Euclidean position in Euclidean 2-orbifolds

Intuitively, a set of sites on a surface is in Euclidean position if points are so close to each other that planar algorithms can be easily adapted in order to solve most of the classical problems in Computational Geometry. In this work we formalize a definition of the term “Euclidean position” for a relevant class of metric spaces, the Euclidean 2-orbifolds, and present methods to compute whether a set of sites has this property. We also show the relation between the convex hull of a point set in Euclidean position on a Euclidean 2-orbifold and the planar convex hull of the inverse image (via the quotient map) of the set

Triage and the route of care for pediatric patients in times of Covid-19, Pinar del Rio

Introducción: en el marco de la pandemia por COVID-19, el triaje estructurado es un elemento imprescindible para priorizar y definir la ruta de atención, que además de garantizar una asistencia oportuna, podría reducir la exposición del personal de salud y por ende, la transmisión de la enfermedad.Objetivo: establecer recomendaciones para el triaje y determinar la ruta de atención de los pacientes pediátricos que acuden al Hospital Pediátrico Provincial Pepe Portilla en el contexto de la pandemia por COVID-19.Desarrollo: se presentan particularidades de una ruta de atención según el triaje pediátrico estructurado a través de la valoración del triángulo de evaluación pediátrica y la definición de caso sospechoso de COVID-19 como procesos básicos de evaluación clínico preliminar en el servicio de urgencias, y se establecen dos flujos de pacientes: flujo 1 para sospechosos de COVID-19 y flujo 2 para no sospechosos de COVID-19.Conclusiones: las recomendaciones descritas son generales y cada hospital, de acuerdo con sus características, deberá decidir la organización óptima para garantizar una atención de calidad y la seguridad de usuarios internos y externos.Introduction: in the framework of Covid-19 pandemic the structured triage is an indispensable element to prioritize and define the route of care, guaranteeing a timely assistance which could reduce the exposure of the healthcare personnel and consequently, the spreading of the disease.   Objective: to establish recommendations for the triage and to determine the route of care for pediatric patients attending Pepe Portilla Pediatric Teaching Hospital in the context of Covid-19 pandemic.Development: particularities in the route of care are introduced considering the pediatric triage, structured by means of the assessment of the triangle used for pediatric evaluation; in addition to the definition for a suspected case of Covid-19, as a basic process for the preliminary-clinical-evaluation in emergency services and establishing two flows of patients: flow 1- suspected case of Covid-19 and flow 2- not suspected case of Covid-19.Conclusions: the recommendations described are general and each hospital, depending on its characteristics, should decide the most favorable organization to guarantee a care of quality along with the safety of inpatients and outpatients

Analysis of Sociodemographic and Psychological Variables Involved in Sleep Quality in Nurses

Background: Sleep quality is related to health and quality of life and can lead to the development of related disorders. This study analyzed the sociodemographic and psychological factors related to sleep quality in nurses. Methods: The sample comprised 1094 nurses who were assessed according to the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, the Rosenberg Self-esteem Questionnaire, the Goal Content for Exercise Questionnaire, the Brief Emotional Intelligence Inventory, and the Three-Factor Eating Questionnaire-R18. Results: The results confirm the impacts of diet, motivation for physical exercise, emotional intelligence, and overall self-esteem on sleep quality in nurses. Conclusions: Sleep quality in healthcare professionals is vitally important for performance at work; therefore, appropriate strategies should be applied to improve it

Quadrangulations and 2-Colorations

Any metric quadrangulation (made by segments of straight line) of a point set in the plane determines a 2-coloration of the set, such that edges of the quadrangulation can only join points with different colors. In this work we focus in 2-colorations and study whether they admit a quadrangulation or not, and whether, given two quadrangulations of the same 2-coloration, it is possible to carry one into the other using some local operations, called diagonal slides and diagonal rotation. Although the answer is negative in general, we can show a very wide family of 2-colorations, called onions 2-coloration, that are quadrangulable and which graph of quadrangulations is always connected

Self-Efficacy and Emotional Intelligence as Predictors of Perceived Stress in Nursing Professionals

Background: Nursing professionals face a variety of stressful situations daily, where the patients’ own stresses and the demands of their family members are the most important sources of such stress. Methods: The main objectives pursued were to describe the relationships of self-efficacy and emotional intelligence with perceived stress in a sample of nursing professionals. We also developed predictive models for each of the components of perceived stress based on the dimensions of emotional intelligence and self-efficacy, for the total sample, as well as samples differentiated by sex. This study sample consisted of 1777 nurses and was conducted using multiple scales: the perceived stress questionnaire, general self-efficacy scale, and the brief emotional intelligence survey for senior citizens. Results: The variables stress management, mood, adaptability, intrapersonal skills, and self-efficacy explained 22.7% of the variance in the harassment–social component, while these same variables explained 28.9% of the variance in the irritability–tension–fatigue dimension. The variables mood, stress management, self-efficacy, intrapersonal, and interpersonal explained 38.6% of the variance in the energy–joy component, of which the last variable offers the most explanatory capacity. Finally, the variables stress management, mood, interpersonal, self-efficacy and intrapersonal skills explained 27.2% of the variance in the fear–anxiety dimension. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that one way to reduce stress in professionals would be to help them improve their emotional intelligence in programs (tailored to consider particularities of either sex) within the framework of nursing, enabling them to develop and acquire more effective stress coping strategies, which would alleviate distress and increase the wellbeing of health professionals

El distrito de Barranco posee proyectos muy interesantes, enfocados a los sectores A, B y C . En estos momentos existe una ley elaborada por el Ministerio de Vivienda para dinamizar el mercado inmobiliario a través del arrendamiento, que se acaba de enviar hace pocos días al Congreso y podrá entrar en funcionamiento a fines de año. Los programas sociales y la efectividad de sus resultados

The objective of this research was to study the different conceptions of social programs and the effectiveness of their results. Regarding the method used, it was necessary to take into account the inductive-deductive method, with the intention of analyzing and purchasing previously published studies, carrying out a historical review of the existing data, without considering any time restriction, however, it was necessary to consult updated information. The research is divided into two categories; social programs and effectiveness. The results show that these programs will reach levels of effectiveness when they carry out their program activities according to the established purposes, the actions undertaken and the efficiency in the use of their resources. Regarding the conclusions, to achieve the effectiveness of social support programs, it is necessary to know the reality of the target audience or beneficiaries, with the intention of effectively addressing their needs, for this purpose, monitoring and continuous evaluation of the tasks undertaken, will allow the adoption of timely strategic actions, which make it possible to make corrections or adjustments to the activities carried outEl objetivo de la presente investigación fue estudiar las diversas concepciones de los programas sociales y la efectividad de sus resultados. Respecto al método utilizado fue necesario tomar en cuenta el inductivo–deductivo, con la intensión de analizar y comprar estudios previamente publicados, realizando una revisión histórica de los datos existentes, no considerándose ninguna restricción de tiempo, no obstante, fue necesario consultar información actualizada. La investigación está dividida en dos categorías; los programas sociales y la efectividad. Los resultados muestran que estos programas llegaran a los niveles de efectividad cuando lleven a cabo sus actividades programas en función a los propósitos establecidos, a sus acciones emprendidas y a la eficiencia en el uso de sus recursos. Referente a las conclusiones, para alcanzar la efectividad de los programas de apoyo social, es necesario conocer la realidad del público objetivo o sus beneficiarios, con la intensión de atender de manera efectiva sus necesidades, para tal efecto el monitoreo y la evaluación continua a las tareas emprendidas, permitirá adoptar las acciones estratégicas oportunas, que posibiliten realizar correcciones o adecuaciones a las actividades desarrolladas

El control interno y su influencia en la gestión de recursos financieros

The State uses its budgetary and financial resources, however, in its execution and use, there are usually some difficulties, conflict of interest, due to the availability of vast amounts of resources and the presence of corruption (Kirn, et al, 2019), a situation that can affect the effectiveness of management in the use of public resources. To overcome this situation, governments establish various strategies with the purpose of achieving the integrity of the events and verifying (controlling), the actions carried out, for the sake of transparency and effectiveness in the management of available resources, mainly financial. Various studies maintain that the absence of control generates a lack of effectiveness due to the existence of bureaucratic barriers (Pliscoff-Varas, 2017), lack of transparency and corruption (Salnave and Lizarazo, 2017) and direction in management, difficulties in the fulfillment of goals and deficiencies in the management of the processes. For this reason, the importance of internal control is highlighted, to eliminate the deficiencies described, this motivates the present work, whose proposed question is: how does internal control influence the effectiveness of financial resource management? The findings can serve as a reference for the use of internal control. In this review article, the inductive-deductive method is used to reach general conclusions (Prieto, 2017, p. 11). In addition, the analytical - synthetic method is used, based on bibliographic information to build the foundations of this work.El Estado utiliza sus recursos presupuestales y financieros, sin embargo, en su ejecución y empleo, suelen presentarse algunas dificultades, conflicto de intereses, debido a situación de la disponibilidad de vastas cantidades de recursos y presencia de la corrupción (Kirn, et al, 2019), situación que puede afectar la efectividad de una gestión en el uso de los recursos públicos. Para superar esta situación, los gobiernos establecen diversas estrategias con el propósito de lograr la integridad de los eventos y verificar (controlar), las acciones que realiza, en aras de la transparencia y efectividad en la gestión de los recursos que se disponen, principalmente financieros.Diversos estudios sostienen que, la ausencia del control, genera la falta de efectividad por la existencia de barreras burocráticas (Pliscoff-Varas, 2017), falta de transparencia y corrupción (Salnave y Lizarazo, 2017) y direccionamiento en la gestión, dificultades en el cumplimiento de metas y deficiencias en la gestión de los procesos.
