Objective: Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) appears frequently in cancer survivors, but not all survivors meet the criteria proposed by the DSM-V to be diagnosed with PTSD. This situation may lead an underestimation of the problem and furthermore, in this patient group, PTSD is related with different aspects of psychological well-being, such as depression, anxiety or quality of life, However, there are only a few psychological interventions designed to reduce these symptoms in cancer survivors. Method: A review of the psychological treatments available for PTSD in cancer survivors in the last 10 years was performed. The data bases used were PubMed, Web of Science (WOS) and PsycInfo with the following descriptors: PTSD (posttraumatic stress disorder) treatment cancer survivors y PTSS (posttraumatic stress symptoms) treatment cancer survivors. Results: The psychological interventions with more evidence are: cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness, ahead other strategies such as stress management training, neuro-emotional therapy, coping skills training and counseling. Conclusions: Despite the relevance of PTSD in this patients group, psychological interventions needs more evidence to establish their efficacy to reduce these symptoms in survivors.
Influence of Maternal and Paternal Parenting Style and Behavior Problems on Academic Outcomes in Primary School
Parents and teachers are concerned about the academic outcomes of children. Among
the variables that play an important role in school success, parenting styles and behavior
problems are some of the most studied. Literature shows that presence of behavioral
problem and parenting styles based on physical punishment, lack of consistency and
ineffective limit setting are related to poor academic achievement. The present study
examined the influence of maternal and paternal parenting styles and behavior problems
on the academic outcomes of primary-school children. Measures used in this study
included the Inventory of Parenting Guide, the Child Behavior Checklist and information
on academic outcomes (n = 78 families). The range age of the students was 6 to
13 years old (mean = 8.08; SD = 1.6; 38 girls). The participation rate was 90.7%. The
results showed that behavior problems and sensitive parenting style were related to
academic outcomes. Specifically, attentional problems and maternal sensitive parenting
styles appeared to be significant predictors of academic outcomes in this study. These
data suggest the relevance of attention and maternal sensitive parenting styles in
understanding processes that promote academic outcomes

Emotional Competence among Future Teachers: A Study on Emotional Intelligence and Empathy Levels

development of social-emotional competences that can be applied throughout their future teaching career. is study aims to assess
how first and fourth year Education Majors perceive their own level of Emotional Intelligence (EI) ad Empathy and explore if
there are any differences among other college majors. e sample used included 569 first- and fourth-year college students majoring
in Preschool Education, Primary School Education, Medicine and Chemistry, who completed the Trait Meta-Mood Scale-24 TMMS-24) Scale for IE assessment and the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI) to assess empathy. A correlation and covariance
analysis were undertaken. e main results regarding perceived levels of EI, reveal that Education Majors had higher levels of
emotional attention upon entering college and that fourth year Education and Medical students had higher levels of emotional
clarity and repair compared to first-year students. Education and Medical students showed higher levels of perceived empathic
concern both upon entering college as well as at the end of their college careers. Yet, students majoring in Education, unlike
students majoring in Medicine, did not show a higher level of perspective taking or empathic concern upon finishing their studies
compared to first year students. In addition, personal distress levels were higher among Education and Chemistry majors. ese
results reflect the importance of changing Education Major curriculums to foster the development of empathic skills
Induced Negative Mood Increases Dictator Game Giving
The study examines the influence of induced negative mood on dictator game giving (DGG) with two recipients. Participants (N = 63) played the role of a dictator in a three-player dictator game. They could choose among two options: an altruistic option, where two receivers receive 10 Euros and the dictator himself receives nothing, or a selfish option, where the dictator himself receives 5 Euros and both receivers receive nothing. For half of the participants, the second option entailed that only one receiver receives nothing and the other receives 10 Euros. After four rounds, participants were randomly assigned to look at 10 pictures with either positive or negative emotional content with the purpose of inducing positive or negative mood. The results show that looking at pictures with negative emotional content increases anxiety and skin conductance and increases DGG in the remaining four rounds of the game. On the other hand, whether the selfish option would imply that one or both recipients receive nothing does not seem to have a strong influence on DGG.PsycINFO Classification code: 2340; 2360

According to the literature, one of the main aims of the European Higher Education Area is that students must develop basic competences, being active agents of their own knowledge, emphasizing discovery learning and the role of the professor as a guide. Following this line, we have developed a project of educational innovation which main aim was fostering autonomy and active learning in students. With this purpose, the students followed a learning methodology based on research and promoting a critical attitude rooted in scientific approach. Thus, the «I Congress of Psychology and Education: the Congress of Students» emerged at the Faculty of Education of the University of Cordoba. A Scientific Congress where the students, who were studying different Psychology subjects in the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education or Bachelor of Primary Education, were the agents of the oral presentations, as well as the scientific posters. The main topic was Educational psychology. In the same line, one year later, it was celebrated the second edition of the Congress. In this edition, we expanded the participation and topics and the methodology was improved
