Stopping Criterion for the Mean Shift Iterative Algorithm
Image segmentation is a critical step in computer vision tasks constituting
an essential issue for pattern recognition and visual interpretation. In this
paper, we propose a new stopping criterion for the mean shift iterative
algorithm by using images defined in Zn ring, with the goal of reaching a
better segmentation. We carried out also a study on the weak and strong of
equivalence classes between two images. An analysis on the convergence with
this new stopping criterion is carried out too.Comment: Have 8 pages. Is the first version of the more general pape
Multiscale permutation entropy analysis of laser beam wandering in isotropic turbulence
We have experimentally quantified the temporal structural diversity from the
coordinate fluctuations of a laser beam propagating through isotropic optical
turbulence. The main focus here is on the characterization of the long-range
correlations in the wandering of a thin Gaussian laser beam over a screen after
propagating through a turbulent medium. To fulfill this goal, a
laboratory-controlled experiment was conducted in which coordinate fluctuations
of the laser beam were recorded at a sufficiently high sampling rate for a wide
range of turbulent conditions. Horizontal and vertical displacements of the
laser beam centroid were subsequently analyzed by implementing the symbolic
technique based on ordinal patterns to estimate the well-known permutation
entropy. We show that the permutation entropy estimations at multiple time
scales evidence an interplay between different dynamical behaviors. More
specifically, a crossover between two different scaling regimes is observed. We
confirm a transition from an integrated stochastic process contaminated with
electronic noise to a fractional Brownian motion with a Hurst exponent H = 5/6
as the sampling time increases. Besides, we are able to quantify, from the
estimated entropy, the amount of electronic noise as a function of the
turbulence strength. We have also demonstrated that these experimental
observations are in very good agreement with numerical simulations of noisy
fractional Brownian motions with a well-defined crossover between two different
scaling regimes.Comment: 8 pages, 6 figure

Evaluation of intellectual disability in Ecuador: a challenge for psychology
One of the crucial aspects that Psychology assumes in the study of people with limitations in the Republic of Ecuador is the approach to intellectual disability. It is precisely and, within the framework of the implementation of the Manuela Espejo Solidarity Mission, it was necessary to address this issue of high social impact, this purpose the methodology used in conducting previous studies has taken as background in Cuba and Venezuela and of which the largest of the Antilles has been protagonist and manager. With this work, the objective has pursued, in the first instance, of reflecting on the complexity of the subject, due to the factors so diverse and dynamic that intervene in the classification of the different levels of intellectual affectation. Descriptively, the methods used in the 24 provinces of Ecuador have explained, verifying their effectiveness in the sample studied by the specialty. It has suggested, as a significant element, the implementation of new psychometric methods for subsequent studies, as well as the creation of diagnostic centers that detect, from earlier ages, people with intellectual disabilities for better treatment, intervention and quality improvement of life
Plan of psychological actions for anger control in taekwondo athletes
The present investigation has carried out intending to design a plan of psychological actions that contributes to the control of anger in athletes of the Taekwondo school category of the EIDE «Captain Orestes Acosta» of Santiago de Cuba. For this, a diagnosis of the state of anger and its expression has made to ten athletes of that category, with the application of observations, interviews and the expression inventory of Ira Trago-Estado, child-adolescent version. The experience of anger has described, describing the situations and related thoughts, where the efforts and/or resources of the athletes are not sufficient, effective or adequate for their control. This diagnosis made possible the elaboration of the plan with actions designed for the evaluation and adequate response to the situations that have propitiated in the course of the preparation and the competences
Applications of Viscoelastic Fluids Involving Hydrodynamic Stability and Heat Transfer
Rayleigh and Marangoni convection and rheology are linked in the thermal convection of viscoelastic fluids to some recent technological applications. Such technology developments as the ones presented here undoubtedly shall be based on interdisciplinary projects involving not only rheology or fluid mechanics but several other disciplines. Three practical applications which use Rayleigh or Marangoni convection in their working principle are presented along with some technical details. This contribution focus mainly on the physical mechanism and the involved hydrodynamics of some lab and industrial applications. Finally, a short discussion on the role play by the convective mechanisms is given in order to provide integration of the exposed ideas

Influence of defects on the irreversible phase transition in the Fe-Pd doped with Co and Mn
The appearance of BCT martensite in Fe-Pd-based ferromagnetic shape memory alloys, which develops at lower temperatures than the thermoelastic martensitic transition, deteriorates the shape memory properties. In a previous work performed in Fe70Pd30, it was shown that a reduction in defects density reduces the non thermoelastic FCT-BCT transformation temperature. In the present work, the influence of quenched-in-defects upon the intensity and temperature of the thermoelastic martensitic (FCC-FCT) and the non thermoelastic (FCT-BCT) transitions in Fe-Pd doped with Co and Mn is studied. Differential scanning calorimetric and mechanical spectroscopy studies demonstrate that a reduction in the dislocation density the stability range of the FCC-FCT reversible transformation in Fe67Pd30Co3 and Fe66.8Pd30.7Mn2.5 ferromagnetic shape memory alloys.Fil: Bonifacich, Federico Guillermo. Anatomy of corpus callosum in prenatally malnourished rats
Indexación: Web of Science; ScieloThe effect of prenatal malnutrition on the anatomy of the corpus callosum was assessed in adult rats (45-52 days old). In the prenatally malnourished animals we observed a significant reduction of the corpus callosum total area, partial areas, and perimeter, as compared with normal animals. In addition, the splenium of corpus callosum (posterior fifth) showed a significant decrease of fiber diameters in the myelinated fibers without changing density. There was also a significant decrease in diameter and a significant increase in density of unmyelinated fibers. Measurements of perimeter's fractal dimensions from sagittal sections of the brain and corpus callosum did not show significant differences between malnourished and control animals. These findings indicate that cortico-cortical connections are vulnerable to the prenatal malnutrition, and suggest this may affect interhemispheric conduction velocity, particulary in visual connections (splenium).http://ref.scielo.org/nph4s
