This article is aimed to answer the invitation of the organizers of the “First Patagonian Encounter on Political Theory: justice, equality, popular power” in order to rethink the assumptions and questions that we deal with in our research teams. Therefore, this piece deals with a theoretical approach that enables us to analyze the incorporation and expropriation of indigenous peoples and lands in Patagonia by the Argentinean national state since the genocidal process that began with the military campaigns of occupation by the late nineteenth century. At the same time, this article explores the relationship between sovereignty and exceptionalness as well as between the state and its margins from the historical research on the existence of concentration camps during the Campaign of the Desert and the aftermaths of this process during the first half of the twentieth century. Through a detailed analysis of a legal file, this paper proposes to review some common assumptions of Patagonian regional history. The focus is placed on the relationship between indigenous people, businessmen and state bureaucrats in the National Territory of Río Negro during the first decades of the twentieth century. Through this thorough study, different mechanisms of subalternization towards the indigenous population are visibilized. These mechanisms allow the researchers to historicize the relationship between the national state and its margins and, at the same time, it enables to refocus the study of the national state.

    Get PDF
The non-formal education is provided with means that enable the family and the school to keep streams of mutual understanding which favour students’ development in all its dimensions. Currently, family participation in educational centres is very low for different reasons. For this reason, there must be support from both classrooms and public administration in order to tighten the bounds of union between these two institutions which are part of our daily life

The selection and sequencing of syllabus content is one of the main tasks the teacher has to approach in his/her new role as curriculum designer. The teaching proposals produced should be theoretically-driven so that specific procedures are suggested for the analysis of disciplinary content and pupils' characteristics. Knowledge regarding teachers' beliefs about these proposals, the difficulties involved in learning them and their scope of application is necessary in order to analyze how adequate they might be for inducing educational changes. In this paper, we present the initial teaching beliefs and teaching practices of a group of secondary school teachers who had previously received a training course in which a teaching proposal was presented. Also, some information is outlined concerning their assessment of the proposal as well as the learning and educational changes effected

Volatiles from Subtropical Convolvulaceae That Interfere with Bacterial Cell-to-Cell Communication as Potential Antipathogenic Drugs

Increasing chronic bacterial infections create an urgent need for new antimicrobial agents or strategies for their control. Targetingvirulence is one of the alternative approaches to find new medicines to treat persistent infections due to bacteria with biofilmphenotypewhich are more resistant to antibiotics than their planktonic counterparts having an extreme capacity for evading the host defences. A bioguided study of sixteen extracts from flowers and leaves of four subtropical Convolvulaceae species provided evidence of the occurrence of antipathogenic natural products active against Gram positive and negative bacteria.Particularly, volatile metabolites from Merremia dissecta creeper, a food and medicinal plant, were able to interfere with the Pseudomonas aeruginosa quorum sensing system by a strong decrease of N-acyl homoserine lactone (AHL) biosynthesis (63?75%), which attenuated the virulence factor expression like biofilm (55%) and elastase activity (up to 27%), key factors thatenable the colonization and dissemination of the infection in the host. Control of the P. aeruginosa biofilm and the QS process by phytochemicals, such as (+) spathulenol, isolated from a bioactive extract of M. dissecta leaves would be a good strategy for the development of new and effective antipathogenic drugs.Fil: Luciardi, María Constanza. The role of parenting styles on behavior problem profiles of adolescents

    Get PDF
Parental behavior is one of the most influential factors on the development of adolescent externalizing and internalizing behavior problems. These behavioral problems are closely related and often co-occur. The objectives of this work were: (i) to identify adolescents profiles according to their behavior problems; (ii) to explore individual, family, and social characteristics associated with these profiles; and (iii) to analyze the potential role of parenting styles in belonging to adolescents’ profiles. A total of 449 Spanish adolescents (223 from families declared at-risk and enrolled in Child Welfare Services and 226 from families from the general population) participated in this study. The analyses revealed three profiles of adolescents based on external and internal behavior problems (adjusted, external maladjustment, and internal maladjustment). Parenting styles explained the adolescents’ belonging to different profiles, in which the indulgent style was the most favorable in general terms. The distinctive role of parenting styles on two types of maladjustment profiles was confirmed. The relationship between parenting styles and adolescent adjustment is a key component that should be included in interventions according to adolescents’ behavior problem profiles. Furthermore, the results shed light on the need that family interventions are complemented with individualized interventions with adolescents that accumulate stressful life events.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad EDU2013-41441-
