COVID-19 & Quarantine Measures: A Comparison between India & Russia

    Get PDF
The Governments of the different countries are taking a wide range of measures in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. For assessing the rigour of quarantine measures, the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford has launched the world`'s first COVID-19 government response tracker—the Oxford Coronavirus Government Response Tracker – OxCGRT). This tool aims to track and compare policy responses of governments around the world, rigorously and consistently. According to the COVID-19 Government Response Stringency Index (GRSI) the strictest measures are in India (97.37 points) and less stringent ones are in the Russian Federation (63.89 points). The study compares restrictive measures in India and Russia, analyses their impact on the spread of COVID-19; and estimates mortality rates. Besides, the study also probes population coverage aimed at diagnosing through the use of testing methods and possible economic consequences of quarantine measures

AUTOMATED EVALUATION OF ACOUSTIC QUALITY OF PREMISES USING DEEP LEARNING

    Get PDF
This research is dedicated to the development and evaluation of a deep learning model for automated evaluation of acoustic quality of premises. The model was trained on a large dataset, which included various acoustic parameters, and showed high accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and F1-score. However, some areas were identified where the model could be improved, particularly in assessing the acoustic quality of premises with a high level of noise. Despite these challenges, the research results confirm the potential of using deep learning in the field of acoustic design. This opens up new opportunities for further development and improvement of methods for automated evaluation of acoustic quality of premises, which may have important practical implications for this field

Class piano instruction in Junior Colleges Accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools /

A major division of the study of the class piano instructor was to gather data concerning specified teaching competencies and skills. The results of that portion of the study revealed that the respondents viewed most of these competencies and skills as Very Important to class piano instruction. The responding teachers viewed their preparation as Adequate or Very Adequate, and most of the selected competencies were viewed as having a Moderate effect on class piano instruction at the junior college level. This study sought to investigate the current status of class piano instruction in public and private community/junior colleges accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. It excludes those colleges designated as being vocational, technical, military, scientific, artistic, or professional. The data for this research was obtained through the use of a comprehensive survey of the target population. The results are based on the returns from that survey.Data sought on the junior college class piano instructor revealed that a master's degree is held by the majority of respondents. Age varies widely, ninety-seven percent of the instructors are white, and over half are women. Prior teaching experience varies widely, but is considered Important to junior college teaching. The majority of respondents have never had a course to prepare them to teach in a junior college.Data collected concerning the numbers and sizes of classes revealed that approximately half the institutions in the target population offer class piano instruction to students in general education, continuing education, and senior citizen programs as well as to music major transfer students. Approximately half the students are in the traditional college age bracket; most programs are based on a comprehensive musicianship approach but texts and materials vary widely. Instructional space and faculty salaries are considered Very Adequate, but a majority of the instructors feel they do not have Adequate time for preparation or personal growth and development. This research had two principal foci: the nature of class piano instruction in community/junior colleges and the teachers providing the instruction

ANALYSIS OF THE CLIMATIC FEATURES OF THE REGIONS OF THE PRIMARY APPLICATION OF THE SYSTEMS FOR PRODUCING WATER FROM THE ATMOSPHERIC AIR

    Get PDF
The object of research is the thermal and humidity processes occurring during artificial cooling of atmospheric air to the dew point temperature in the evaporators of refrigeration machines of the compression and absorption type. This study solves the problem of finding energy efficient heat and humidity modes for cooling atmospheric air to the dew point temperature in regions with a shortage of water resources and high solar installations. It is shown that practically in all considered climatic zones with a shortage of water resources, the process of obtaining water from atmospheric air is most energetically expended in the winter period of the year, and the most energetically efficient - in the summer period. In the summer period of the year, the specific energy consumption is numerically comparable in the cooling temperature range from 5 °C to 15 °C. It is also shown that the application of the technology of night radiation will create a reserve of natural cold for additional cooling of condensers of refrigerating machines of various types during the entire period of operation. The area of practical use of the research results: compression and absorption refrigeration machines operating in systems for obtaining water from atmospheric air and taking into account seasonal changes in the thermal and humidity parameters of atmospheric air. An innovative technological product: energy-efficient systems for obtaining water from atmospheric air based on refrigeration machines of the compression and absorption type, which also work with the help of solar radiation. Scope of application of the innovative technological product: systems for supplying the population with drinking and process water, mainly in areas with a shortage of water resources
