Natural communities, based on the existence of a minimal thought, expressed through religion, werethe only form of social organization until the English Revolution put the bases of an alternative form, the individual communities. The individual communities, grounded in the empowerment of theindividual, broke this minimal thought, facilitating the emergence of alternative thoughts inside thecommunity, making possible the scientific revolution and the participation of all in the sovereignty. As societies dynamic, in constant change, though they facilitate the search at liberty of thehappiness of everyone, they expose the individual to a lack of references, to the abyss of happiness. This means that in his own crib, the West, individual communities have been fought and lacking anuniversal power of attraction. Improving the Performance of Low Voltage Networks by an Optimized Unbalance Operation of Three-Phase Distributed Generators

    Get PDF
This work focuses on using the full potential of PV inverters in order to improve the efficiency of low voltage networks. More specifically, the independent per-phase control capability of PV three-phase four-wire inverters, which are able to inject different active and reactive powers in each phase, in order to reduce the system phase unbalance is considered. This new operational procedure is analyzed by raising an optimization problem which uses a very accurate modelling of European low voltage networks. The paper includes a comprehensive quantitative comparison of the proposed strategy with two state-of-the-art methodologies to highlight the obtained benefits. The achieved results evidence that the proposed independent per-phase control of three-phase PV inverters improves considerably the network performance contributing to increase the penetration of renewable energy sources.

Rotenone selectively occludes sensitivity to hypoxia in rat carotid body glomus cells

    Get PDF
Carotid body glomus cells release transmitters in response to hypoxia due to the increase of excitability resulting from inhibition of O2 -regulated K+ channels. However, the mechanisms involved in the detection of changes of O2 tension are unknown. We have studied the interaction between glomus cell O2 sensitivity and inhibition of the mitochondrial electron transport chain (ETC) in a carotid body thin slice preparation in which catecholamine release from intact single glomus cells can be monitored by amperometry. Inhibition of the mitochondrial ETC at proximal and distal complexes induces external Ca2+-dependent catecholamine secretion. At saturating concentration of the ETC inhibitors, the cellular response to hypoxia is maintained. However, rotenone, a complex I blocker, selectively occludes the responsiveness to hypoxia of glomus cells in a dose-dependent manner. The effect of rotenone is mimicked by 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium ion(MPP+), an agent that binds to the same site as rotenone, but not by complex I inhibitors acting on different sites. In addition, the effect of rotenone is not prevented by incubation of the cells with succinate, a substrate of complex II. These data strongly suggest that sensitivity to hypoxia of carotid body glomus cells is not linked in a simple way to mitochondrial electron flow and that a rotenone (and MPP+)-sensitive molecule critically participates in acute oxygen sensing in the carotid body.Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnología 1FD97–161

Market Efficiency and price discovery relationships between spot, futures and forward prices: The case of the Iberian Electricity Market (MIBEL)

    Get PDF
This paper analyses the relationships between prices from three different markets within the Spanish zone of the Iberian Electricity Market (MIBEL), namely futures, spot and over the counter (OTC) forward markets. The study focuses on three items: (i) contrasting the Weak-form efficiency hypothesis of the markets involved in the study, (ii) analysing the Semi-strong-form efficient market hypothesis (EMH) of the MIBEL futures market and (iii) examining the price discovery relationships between the series of prices of the considered markets. The empirical results confirm that 1-month-, 1-quarter-, 1-year-ahead futures and spot markets satisfy, generally, the Weak-form efficiency hypothesis and that MIBEL futures market does not contradict the EMH in its Semi-strong-form. In addition, price discovery relationships have also been found. In particular, there is unidirectional causality from the futures market to the forward market and from the futures market to the spot market for 1-month- and 1-quarter-ahead maturities. This result may be indicative of the agents to use the price of the futures market as a valuable reference

In-service training on teaching in the University of Granada: an answer to the teaching needs of academics

International Conference on Education. Bilbao, 18-20 de julio de 2013In the last years, Spanish universities have given great importance to in-service training focusing mainly on the quality of teaching. This increase, which is a clear sign of the effort done by Spanish universities to improve the professional competence of academics, must be accompanied by asp ects such as the evaluation of the given training/courses, the inclusion of different elements to be assessed, i.e. the lecturers, contents, structure of the course, number of participants, degree of satisfaction of the participants with the received training, the impact of the course on the development of teaching competences and the impact of the new skills on the teaching practice, considering, mainly, the teaching of the participants. This paper analyses the needs expressed by academics as well as the offer proposed by the University of Granada to those needs. A survey conducted in 2012/13 of more than 500 academics is used to gather informatio

In this paper, we introduce a new extension of the generalized Apostol-Frobenius-Euler polynomials ℋn[m−1,α](x; c,a; λ; u). We give some algebraic and differential properties, as well as, relationships between this polynomials class with other polynomials and numbers. We also, introduce the generalized Apostol-Frobenius-Euler polynomials matrix ????[m−1,α](x; c,a; λ; u) and the new generalized Apostol-Frobenius-Euler matrix ????[m−1,α](c,a; λ; u), we deduce a product formula for ????[m−1,α](x; c,a; λ; u) and provide some factorizations of the Apostol-Frobenius-Euler polynomial matrix ????[m−1,α](x; c,a; λ; u), which involving the generalized Pascal matrix
