The effects of salt loading via two different routes on feed intake, body water turnover rate and on electrolyte excretion in sheep
The effect of dosing identical amounts of sodium chloride, via 2 different routes, on feed intake and water and electrolyte balance was investigated in sheep. Feed intake and plasma sodium concentrations were unaffected by salt loading, while water intake, fractional turnover of body water, plasma and urine potassium concentrations and urine sodium concentration changed significantly from control values (P< 0,05). With a few exceptions, parameters were in general similar irrespective of the route

Close limit evolution of Kerr-Schild type initial data for binary black holes
We evolve the binary black hole initial data family proposed by Bishop {\em
et al.} in the limit in which the black holes are close to each other. We
present an exact solution of the linearized initial value problem based on
their proposal and make use of a recently introduced generalized formalism for
studying perturbations of Schwarzschild black holes in arbitrary coordinates to
perform the evolution. We clarify the meaning of the free parameters of the
initial data family through the results for the radiated energy and waveforms

The Erpenbeck high frequency instability theorem for ZND detonations
The rigorous study of spectral stability for strong detonations was begun by
J.J. Erpenbeck in [Er1]. Working with the Zeldovitch-von Neumann-D\"oring (ZND)
model, which assumes a finite reaction rate but ignores effects like viscosity
corresponding to second order derivatives, he used a normal mode analysis to
define a stability function V(\tau,\eps) whose zeros in
correspond to multidimensional perturbations of a steady detonation profile
that grow exponentially in time. Later in a remarkable paper [Er3] he provided
strong evidence, by a combination of formal and rigorous arguments, that for
certain classes of steady ZND profiles, unstable zeros of exist for
perturbations of sufficiently large transverse wavenumber \eps, even when the
von Neumann shock, regarded as a gas dynamical shock, is uniformly stable in
the sense defined (nearly twenty years later) by Majda. In spite of a great
deal of later numerical work devoted to computing the zeros of V(\tau,\eps),
the paper \cite{Er3} remains the only work we know of that presents a detailed
and convincing theoretical argument for detecting them.
The analysis in [Er3] points the way toward, but does not constitute, a
mathematical proof that such unstable zeros exist. In this paper we identify
the mathematical issues left unresolved in [Er3] and provide proofs, together
with certain simplifications and extensions, of the main conclusions about
stability and instability of detonations contained in that paper.
The main mathematical problem, and our principal focus here, is to determine
the precise asymptotic behavior as \eps\to \infty of solutions to a linear
system of ODEs in , depending on \eps and a complex frequency as
parameters, with turning points on the half-line
On quantum teleportation with beam-splitter-generated entanglement
Following the lead of Cochrane, Milburn, and Munro [Phys. Rev. A {\bf 62},
062307 (2000)], we investigate theoretically quantum teleportation by means of
the number-sum and phase-difference variables. We study Fock-state entanglement
generated by a beam splitter and show that two-mode Fock-state inputs can be
entangled by a beam splitter into close approximations of maximally entangled
eigenstates of the phase difference and the photon-number sum
(Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen -- EPR -- states). Such states could be experimentally
feasible with on-demand single-photon sources. We show that the teleportation
fidelity can reach near unity when such ``quasi-EPR'' states are used as the

Capnocytophaga canimorsus endocarditis with root abscess in a patient with a bicuspid aortic valve
Infective endocarditis caused by a zoonotic micro organism is a rare clinical condition. Capnocytophaga canimorsus is a commensal bacterium living in the saliva of dogs and cats which produces rarely reported endocarditis whose incidence may be underestimated, considering its failure to grow on standard media. We reported the case of a 65-year-old man with bicuspid aortic valve endocarditis and multiple abscesses of the aortic wall caused by the canine bacteria C. canimorsus
The experimental production of krimpsiekte in sheep with Tylecodon grandiflorus (Burm.f.) Toelken and some of its bufadienolides.
Six bufadienolides were isolated from Tylecodon grandiflorus (Burm. f.) Toelken. The paretic syndrome, krimpsiekte, could be induced in sheep either by repeated oral administration of small quantities of plant material or the intravenous injection of small quantities of certain bufadienolides. A mild to moderate, acute to subacute, multifocal cardiomyopathy was evident in sheep poisoned by both the plant and the bufadienolides.The articles have been scanned in colour with a HP Scanjet 5590; 600dpi.

Addressing marine and coastal governance conflicts at the interface of multiple sectors and jurisdictions
Marine and coastal activities are closely interrelated, and conflicts among different sectors can undermine management and conservation objectives. Governance systems for fisheries, power generation, irrigation, aquaculture, marine biodiversity conservation, and other coastal and maritime activities are typically organized to manage conflicts within sectors, rather than across them. Based on the discussions around eight case studies presented at a workshop held in Brest in June 2019, this paper explores institutional approaches to move beyond managing conflicts within a sector. We primarily focus on cases where the groups and sectors involved are heterogeneous in terms of: the jurisdiction they fall under; their objectives; and the way they value ecosystem services. The paper first presents a synthesis of frameworks for understanding and managing cross-sectoral governance conflicts, drawing from social and natural sciences. We highlight commonalities but also conceptual differences across disciplines to address these issues. We then propose a novel analytical framework which we used to evaluate the eight case studies. Based on the main lessons learned from case studies, we then discuss the feasibility and key determinants of stakeholder collaboration as well as compensation and incentive schemes. The discussion concludes with future research needs to support policy development and inform integrated institutional regimes that consider the diversity of stakeholder interests and the potential benefits of cross-sectoral coordination
