Simulation as a method for asymptotic system behavior identification (e.g. water frog hemiclonal population systems)

    Get PDF
Studying any system requires development of ways to describe the variety of its conditions. Such development includes three steps. The first one is to identify groups of similar systems (associative typology). The second one is to identify groups of objects which are similar in characteristics important for their description (analytic typology). The third one is to arrange systems into groups based on their predicted common future (dynamic typology). We propose a method to build such a dynamic topology for a system. The first step is to build a simulation model of studied systems. The model must be undetermined and simulate stochastic processes. The model generates distribution of the studied systems output parameters with the same initial parameters. We prove the correctness of the model by aligning the parameters sets generated by the model with the set of the original systems conditions evaluated empirically. In case of a close match between the two, we can presume that the model is adequately describing the dynamics of the studied systems. On the next stage, we should determine the probability distribution of the systems transformation outcome. Such outcomes should be defined based on the simulation of the transformation of the systems during the time sufficient to determine its fate. If the systems demonstrate asymptotic behavior, its phase space can be divided into pools corresponding to its different future state prediction. A dynamic typology is determined by which of these pools each system falls into. We implemented the pipeline described above to study water frog hemiclonal population systems. Water frogs (Pelophylax esculentus complex) is an animal group displaying interspecific hybridization and non-mendelian inheritance

Learning how to speak truth to power – comparing Ukrainian and Swiss foreign language curricula

    Get PDF
Human Rights Education strives to empower learners to participate meaningfully in a democratic and sustainable society in which human rights are guaranteed for all. Foreign language education enables students to transcend borders, gives them an opportunity to share their views, ideas, and beliefs, and contributes to the development of critical thinking skills. It can thus endow students with a ‘voice’ to claim and defend their rights and learn to ‘speak truth to power’. This article explores if and how the intended foreign language curricula for lower secondary schools in Switzerland and Ukraine integrate human rights education. Drawing on the 2011 UN Declaration on Human Rights Education and Training as an analytical framework, the analysis reveals that ‘education for human rights’ is the best represented dimension in both contexts. Our results may serve as a springboard for exploring further opportunities to integrate human rights education and foreign language education

Social media projects for boosting intercultural communication by means of learning English

    Get PDF
The paper is targeted to explore the intensification of communication among culturally diverse students by means of creating social media groups. In frames of the psycholinguistic experiment, Ukrainian and Chinese students were working together at detecting common, similar and distinct features in idioms from the Ukrainian, English and Chinese languages. They intented to decode the phraseological picture of the world of Ukrainian, English and Chinese. Participation in social media group enabled participants’ exchanging opinions and ideas in the process of learning English. Such intercultural interaction outlined the national-axiological characteristics of Ukrainian, Chinese and English, their outlook and behavioral patterns. Pedagogical observation and interviews with participants revealed that students, who participated in the social media project, learnt traditions, speech etiquette and social norms of other nations, fostered their English speaking and writing skills. It was noted that democratic, uncritical and open-minded style of communication in the social media group allowed participants to build informal cooperation, develop tolerance to fellow students, overcome self-doubt and get motivated to communicate with culturally diverse students

The method for ranking quasi-optimal alternatives in interval game models against nature

    Get PDF
The task of selecting the optimal strategy in the interval game with nature is considered; in particular, the situation when in the interactive dialogue of an analyst and decision support system there are cases of objective ambiguity caused, on the one hand, by interval uncertainty of data, and on the other hand – by the chosen model of the task formalization. The method for ranking quasioptimal alternatives in interval game models against nature is proposed, which enables comparing interval alternatives in cases of classical interval ambiguity. In this case, the function of the analyst preferences is used with respect to the values of the criterion that help determine the indicators for the quantitative ranking of alternatives. By selecting a specific type of the preference function, the researcher artificially converts the primary uncertainty of the data into the uncertainty of the preference function form, which nevertheless enables avoiding the ambiguity in the "fuzzy" areas of quasi-optimal alternatives

The impact of political stability on economic development after a military invasion: the experience of the countries of the Middle East and Southeast Asia

    Get PDF
Economic development after a military invasion depends on a number of factors led by the establishment of peace and political stability. However, the restoration of stability is a difficult test for the post-war economy because of a number of reasons, which include the destruction of institutions, conflicting interests of the government and society, violation of legitimacy, humanitarian crisis, and many others. The aim of the article is to study the ways of achieving political stability and its impact on economic development after the military invasion. The SWOT analysis and case study methods were used during the research. Using the example of Iraq and Vietnam, the appropriateness of using such advantages as the availability of a resource base, opportunities to attract international support, and effective reforms in the economic sphere in the course of post-war recovery was established. Such limitations as the reduction of human potential, the destruction of infrastructure, and the increasing public debt should be taken into account in the course of recovery. The solution to the outlined problems can be effective fight against corruption, the strengthening of the institutional component, effective reforms in the economic sphere, as well as overcoming the environmental consequences of the war and restoring the physical and mental state of the population. The role of political stability in this process is significant. The main ways to achieve it include a team of patriot reformers, increasing the transparency of government actions, conducting inclusive policies and achieving social equality and welfare

The Design Creativity as the way of dealing with students’ stress in the context of the global pandemic challenge

    Get PDF
In this publication we concentrate our attention on finding the ways for dealing with students’ stress during the COVID-2019 pandemic period and implementing them into the constant practice. In the design practice we can consider stress not only as negative, but also positive experience.  We present our own experience that unites educational technologies in the design practice, the design-methods and some moments of the art therapy. We examine students’ diploma projects simultaneously as the design-product and the design-process that have anti-stress effect and are the method of harmonization of the students’ internal world in terms of the changeable medium. We consider different ways of art visualization as the mechanism of self-actualization, decrease of anxiety and dealing with depressive conditions. The work outlines the strategy of using design creativity as the way of overcoming and preventing the effects of stress factors during studying in the context of global pandemic challenges. Keywords: Anti-Stress Processes, Anti-Stress Products, Design Creativity, Design Thinking, Educational Technologies

STUDY OF INFLUENCE OF FREEZING-DEFROSTING ON THERMOPHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF MEAT SYSTEMS

    Get PDF
There were studied thermophysical properties of meat systems, based on comminuted beef with different chemical compositions in the process of freezing-defrosting. It was demonstrated, that the morphological base of meat (the ratio of muscular, connective and fatty tissues) and its chemical composition essentially influence thermophysical properties in the process of freezing-defrosting. It was revealed, that under conditions of realization of freezing-defrosting cycle with the fat mass share increase, the temperature increase of the maximal speed of crystal creation, decrease of the cryoscopic temperature interval, increase of the share of moisture that changes its aggregate state in the cryoscopic temperature interval, increase of specific heat of the phase transfer in the cryoscopic temperature interval are observed in a meat system. The type of changes of the cryoscopic temperature interval allows to detect that fat essentially influences the process of freezing-defrosting. The realized studies of comparison of thermodynamic changes in meat systems at refrigerator processing allowed to determine the strategy of saving meat systems’ stability that is in providing meat proteins’ colloid stability and renewing initial properties of the meat raw material after storage and defrosting.&nbsp
