Dental Health in Preschool and Schoolchildren in Relation to Dental Fear and Some Fear-Related Factors, and the Outcome of a Caries Prevention Program in Offspring of Fearful Mothers

Dental caries and dental fear and anxiety (DFA) are common interrelated problems but so far little is known about these problems in Estonia. The aim was to study dental health in relation to DFA, some fear-related factors, and to study the effect of a caries prevention program in children of fearful mothers. Dental health and DFA were assessed in two Estonian [2-4-year-olds (n=472) and 8-10-year-olds (n=344)], and the effect of some medical conditions on DFA in one Finnish child group [3-year-olds (n=148)]. 120 mother-child-pairs participated in the xylitol-based prevention program. Dental health was examined using the WHO or the ICDAS criteria and expressed as dmft/DMFT-indices. The modified children’s fear survey schedule dental subscale (MCFSS-DS) was used to assess DFA of schoolchildren, one single question to assess parental DFA, and the Corah’s dental anxiety scale (DAS) to assess DFA of mothers in the prevention study. Dentine caries was diagnosed in 42% of the 2-4-year-old and in 93% of the 8-10-year-old Estonian children. DFA of 8-10-year-olds (17%) was associated with experience of dental treatment, and maternal and paternal DFA. Dental apprehension at 9 years of age was associated with frequent exposure to invasive medical care. The xylitol-based prevention was successful irrespective of poor dental hygiene habits and maternal severe DFA. In conclusion, experience of operative dental treatment and DFA of Estonian children were closely associated. Invasive medical care and parental DFA were also linked to children’s DFA. Habitual use of xylitol by mothers was effective in preventing caries even in children of severely fearful mothers.Siirretty Doriast

A Case Study: The Feminist and Cultural Contribution to Transpersonal Experience

Indeed feminist spirituality belongs to the woman. However, a woman is not automatically attune with feminist spirituality if she is not aware of and open to. This case study presents that man can experience the feminist spirituality when he is open to that spirit. Because of the awareness and openness, the hidden qualities of his anima side is connected and transformed by the feminist spirituality of the participants of this study. Therefore, researcher believe that anyone who is aware of her and his feminists spiritual qualities can be connected with the spirit within and around that lead toward spiritual integration that bear fruit of transformation

Питання, пов’язані з інформаційною безпекою, протягом довгого часу в Польщі були недооціненими фінансови ми інституціями, хоча право на конфіденційність гарантувалося Європейською конвенцією забезпечення прав людини та фундаментальних свобод від 4 квітня 1950 р., яка була ратифікована Польщею 15 грудня 1992 р. Стаття 8 згаданої Конвенції стосується захисту конфіденційності осіб: «Кожен має право на повагу до його приватного і сімейного життя, його домівки та кореспонденції». Одним із елементів конфіденційності, перерахованих у цьому документі та в юриспруденції Європейського Суду з прав людини, є фінансова та економічна ситуація фізичної та юридичної особи. У рамках цього також включені відносини споживачів з фінансовими інституціями, а отже, очевидною є необхідність захисту інформації стосовно цих відносин. Pet attachment dan Self Esteem Pada Mahasiswa yang Memiliki Hewan Peliharaan

: 1) Mengetahui adakah hubungan antara pet attachment dengan self esteem pada mahasiswa yang memiliki hewan peliharaan; 2) mengidentifikasi seberapa tinggi tingkat pet attachment; 3) mengidentifikasi seberapa tinggi tingkat self esteem; 4) mengidentifikasi butir item skala pet attachment mana saja yang teridentifikasi tidak optimal yang dapat diusulkan sebagai topik bimbingan; 5) mengetahui butir item skala self esteem mana saja yang teridentifikasi tidak optimal yang dapat diusulkan sebagai topik bimbingan. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu deskriptif kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian korelasional. Sampel yang digunakan adalah mahasiswa yang memiliki hewan peliharaan di Univeristas Sanata Dharma berusia antara 18-22 tahun yang berjumlah 98 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan survei yang dilakukan secara online dengan link google form. Item valid pada skala pet attachment berjumlah 26 item, sendangkan pada skala self esteem item yang valid berjumlah 21 item. Pengujian koefisien reliabilitas instrumen pada penelitian ini menggunakan teknik alfa cronbach. Hasil uji reliabilitas instrumen tingkat pet attachment senilai 1.000 dan pada instrumen tingkat self esteem senilai 0.808. Kedua instrumen tersebut teruji reliabel dan layak digunakan. Hasil analisis hipotesis korelasional diperoleh nilai r Spearman sebesar 0.248 dengan nilai ρ 0.014 (ρ 0.05) . Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif yang signifikan antara pet attachment dengan self esteem pada mahasiswa yang memiliki hewan peliharaan. Hasil capaian pet attachment yaitu cenderung tinggi dan hasil capaian self esteem cenderung tinggi. Item pet attachment pada mahasiswa yang terindikasi sedang berjumlah 2 item, sedangkan item self esteem pada mahasiswa yang terindikasi rendah berjumlah 1 item. Resolution of electric field distribution and conductivity in a non-uniform electric field: A teaching proposal

This work offers an alternative teaching proposal for the instruction of challenging concepts of electric field distribution and specific conductivity in a non-uniform electric field. Specifically, electric field lines are initially plotted and later on the relation between the electric potential difference and electric field strength is validated.  Additionally, on a selected electric field line, electric field strength versus path length and also conductivity versus path length are plotted to comprehend and teach exceedingly difficult concepts of uniform and non-uniform electric fields. In order to accomplish those tasks, a basic conducting sheet, that is simply a wet cardboard, is designed as a part of the apparatus together with a dc power supply, a multi meter and connecting cables. The established method is interesting in the sense that designed the conducting wet cardboard is novel, very practical, beneficial and minimal costing, hence the approach offers physics educators fresh teaching routes and opportunities to clarify the puzzling concepts of electrical field and conductivity

Komunikacja jako warunek funkcjonowania organizacji samorządowych

Artykuł podejmuje próbę wykazania, iż procesy komunikacji wpływają na rozwój samorządów terytorialnych. Są bowiem one podstawą budowy sprawnej i efektywnej administracji samorządowej, która wspiera i inicjuje działania na rzecz rozwoju oraz zadowolenia społecznego. Autor omawia najistotniejsze z tego punktu widzenia czynniki mające wpływ na skuteczne zarządzanie podmiotami samorządowymi. Na podstawie ich analizy stwierdza, że wskazane jest podejście interdyscyplinarne obejmujące zarówno metody, jak i sposoby komunikowania się. Empiryczna weryfikacja wybranych aspektów komunikacji została przeprowadzona na przykładzie czterech samorządów terytorialnych województwa podkarpackiego. Rezultaty badań pokazały, że komunikacja i realizacja misji samorządowej zależy od organizacji urzędu, co ma wpływ na współpracę między samorządem terytorialnym a organizacjami pozarządowymi (NGO), lokalnym biznesem oraz społecznością lokalną. Ponadto komunikacja jest podstawowym narzędziem umożliwiającym wpływ mieszkańców na realizację celów wyznaczonych przez samorządy

Analysis of the Flipped Classroom Model on Students' Critical Thinking Skills

The role of education is very important in improving human resources. The purpose of education is to prepare students to be able to develop and apply knowledge. This study analyzes students’ critical thinking skills using the flipped classroom model. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected through class observations and interviews. The results of the study show that the use of the flipped classroom model can help shorten learning time in class, that learning is not boring, the students’ analytical ability increases, as well as their ability to work together and communicate.
