The aim of this paper is to show the results of incorporating the 3D geovisualization and the time (as a 4th dimension) to the geographical information and, specifically, to the interoperable geoservices by means of the Internet, applied to the field of Natural Sciences. The Condor geoviewer (with desktop and web-client versions) is a software developed by Elimco Sistemas, a company which keeps a strong relationship with the authors focussed on the design of the functionalities and the usage of graphic semiology to the geographical data. In order to make a test of these geoviewer capabilities, two areas –a coastal and marine one and an alpine geomorphological area- were chosen. The results show the potentialities of this tool in the 3D and multitemporal geovisualization applied to two extreme environments (such as alpine and submerged areas). An obvious additional advantage in the transmission of knowledge of natural environments is given to the geoviewer by means of the addition of some user-friendly interactive analysis tools (real time calculations of slope and shades, topographic profiles, etc)

A set of RLS-type models with ARMA and ARFIMA dynamics is estimated and compared in a forecasting exercise with ARFIMA, GARCH and FIGARCH models. It is an extension of Rodríguez (N Am J Econ Financ 42:393–420, 2017) but using more countries and working with squared returns in the forecasting exercise. The estimation results show: (i) existence of RLS; (ii) measurement errors except in Chile and Colombia. Regarding the fractional parameter, the estimates are quite small indicating the possible absence of long memory with possible exceptions of Chile and Colombia. The forecast exercise using the 10% MCS of Hansen et al. (Econometrica 79:453–497, 2011) and the ratios of MSFE indicate absence of the RLS-ARFIMA models while RLS-ARMA models are selected. In general, the results of the estimations and forecasts indicate probable absence of long memory or its small magnitude, which would makes this characteristic not only unnecessary but also irrelevant to capture the variations of the low frequencies of the series.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

The great technological advances driven by the Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) and the information spreading such as ‘interoperable services’ (INSTIRE directive), at present easily accessible (IDEE, IDEAndalucia), have benefited the integration of geographical information (e.g. territorial, environmental, socio-economical) for the suitable coastal areas management (which have been historically difficult on these areas). Currently, there are different viewer purposes of geographical information: web viewers (such as ‘google map’ for instance) and virtual globes (such as ‘google Earth’). In this paper will be shown the capabilities of 2D/3D geographical viewer developed by the company ‘Elimco Sistemas’ in collaboration with University of Seville, which combines a desktop and a web version that were developed for the ‘Andalusian Litoral Subsystem’ (coastal information subsystem in Andalucia developed by the regional environmental ministry). The graphic potential of the viewer, the current data availability and the easy use for public users will facilitate public awareness about coastal environments and will provide better knowledge of these areas. Additionally, these viewers also have advance tools (e.g. profile creation, digitising, and flooding simulations) that can increment the use possibilities for technical purposes and can also be used by technicians and managers

Dynamical phases transitions in periodically driven Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer systems

We present a systematic study of the dynamical phase diagram of a periodically driven BCS system as a function of drive strength and frequency. Three different driving mechanism are considered and compared: oscillating density of states, oscillating pairing interaction and oscillating external paring field. We identify the locus in parameter space of parametric resonances and four dynamical phases: Rabi-Higgs, gapless, synchronized Higgs and time-crystal. We demonstrate that the main features of the phase diagram are quite robust to different driving protocols and discuss the order of the transitions. By mapping the BCS problem to a collection of nonlinear and interacting classical oscillators, we shed light on the origin of time-crsytalline phases and parametric resonances appearing for subgap excitations.Comment: 15 pages, including 12 figures, appendix and reference

Paediatric and juvenile obesity is a public health problem which control necessarily implies prevention and nutritional education. Objectives: To evaluate the nutritional status of the adolescents and determine the proportion with overweight or obesity, and to establish a Nutritional Intervention Programme and analyse the improvement in the pattern of dietary habits among the adolescents. Methods: The study has been carried out in a population of 372 Obligatory Secondary Education (OSE) students from the Institute of Secondary Education of Gandía (Valencia). Results: 37.8% of the adolescents have improved the level of their diet quality. Those consuming a high quality diet have increased from 30.0% to 58.6%. Also significant is the number of students that have taken up having breakfast and those having discontinued taking industrial bakery with this meal. The decrease in the number of adolescents going to fast food places and of those that have discontinued eating candies regularly isstatistically significant. The data from the KIDMED index show that 47.4% (p < 0.001) of de the students have improved the quality of their diet and in none of them it has worsened. Discussion: Before starting the programme, 30% of the students followed a high quality diet comparable to the traditional Mediterranean Diet, and after the education programme, this percentage increased to 58.6%. Forty-seven point four percent of overweighed or obese students receiving the Nutritional Education and Intervention have improved their diet quality and the percentage of those following a high quality diet varied from 28.9% to 71.0%

This is the pre-peer reviewed version of the following article: Self‐Assembled Nanofibrilar Networks: Boosting Hydrogelation Efficiency by Replacement of a Pyridine Moiety by a Quinoline One, which has been published in final form at https://doi.org/10.1002/cnma.201800219. This article may be used for non-commercial purposes in accordance with Wiley Terms and Conditions for Use of Self-Archived VersionsA new molecular hydrogelator consisting of a L‐Valine derivative with appended quinoline units behaves as a supramolecular superhydrogelator forming gels at such low concentrations as 0.8 mM (0.05% w/w). On the other hand, an analogue compound containing a pyridine moiety is found to be a poor gelator, forming gels at 19 mM. The gels are pH sensitive because of the protonation of the heterocycle and show microcrystallinity. The rheological properties and biocompatibility are also reported
