Modelo para la estimación de la oferta hídrica que incorpora el agua subterránea en microcuencas sin información hidrológica
(Eng) Surface water (SUP) and groundwater (SUB) interact inside the hydrological cycle according to geomorphologic
and climatic characteristics that compose the landscape. Therefore, the impact on any of these compounds will
inevitably affect the quantity and/or quality of the other. In this context, a simple method was proposed based
on the general water balance equation; which incorporates the exchange flow of superficial and groundwater in
the estimate of the total water availability (OHtotal) in a watershed, starting from minimum hydroclimologic
and hydrogeologic data. This method was applied to the micro-basin of La Arenosa-La Margarita creek
(Pereira, Colombia) and it was noticed that the input of the groundwater flow influences in the estimate of the
water availability. Also, it was analyzed that these results are quite similar to the ones obtained by widely used
theoretical models used in hydrology; such as the SCS, UNESCO, added tanks, Long-term hydric balance and
Hydric Efficiency for the same study area. Thus, it was concluded that the proposed method is viable to be
applied in micro-basins with little hydrologic and hydrogeological information.(Spa) El agua superficial (SUP) y subterránea (SUB) interactúan dentro del ciclo hidrológico según las características
geomorfológicas y climáticas que configuran el paisaje; por tanto, los impactos sobre cualquiera de estos
componentes afectarán inevitablemente la cantidad y/o calidad del otro. En este contexto, se propuso un método
simple basado en la ecuación general de balance hídrico, que incorpora el flujo de intercambio SUP-SUB en la
estimación de la oferta hídrica total (OHtotal) en una cuenca hidrográfica, a partir de datos hidroclimatológicos e
hidrogeológicos mínimos. Este método fue aplicado en la microcuenca de la quebrada La Arenosa-La Margarita
(Pereira, Colombia) y se observó que el aporte de flujo subterráneo influye en la estimación de la oferta hídrica.
También se analizó que estos resultados son similares a los obtenidos por modelos teóricos ampliamente
utilizados en la hidrología tales como el SCS, UNESCO, Tanques agregados, Balance Hídrico de Largo Plazo y
Rendimiento Hídrico para la misma zona de estudio. Por lo tanto, se concluyó que el modelo propuesto es viable
para su aplicabilidad en microcuencas con poca información de tipo hidrológico e hidrogeológico
Species‐specific effects of biocrust‐forming lichens on soil properties under simulated climate change are driven by functional traits
(1) Biocrusts are key drivers of ecosystem functioning in drylands, yet our understanding of how climate change will affect the chemistry of biocrust‐forming species and their impacts on carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) cycling is still very limited. (2) Using a manipulative experiment conducted with common biocrust‐forming lichens with distinct morphology and chemistry (Buellia zoharyi, Diploschistes diacapsis, Psora decipiens and Squamarina lentigera), we evaluated changes in lichen total and isotopic C and N and several soil C and N variables after 50 months of simulated warming and rainfall reduction. (3) Climate change treatments reduced δs13C and C:N ratio in B. zoharyi, and increased δ15N in S. lentigera. Lichens had species‐specific effects on soil dissolved organic N (DON), NH4+, β‐glucosidase and acid phosphatase activity regardless of climate change treatments, while these treatments changed how lichens affected several soil properties regardless of biocrust species. Changes in thallus δ13C, N and C:N drove species‐specific effects on DON, NH4+, β‐glucosidase and acid phosphatase activity. Astroclimatic Characterization of Vallecitos: A candidate site for the Cherenkov Telescope Array at San Pedro Martir
We conducted an 18 month long study of the weather conditions of the
Vallecitos, a proposed site in Mexico to harbor the northern array of the
Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA). It is located in Sierra de San Pedro Martir
(SPM) a few kilometers away from Observatorio Astron\'omico Nacional. The study
is based on data collected by the ATMOSCOPE, a multi-sensor instrument
measuring the weather and sky conditions, which was commissioned and built by
the CTA Consortium. Additionally, we compare the weather conditions of the
optical observatory at SPM to the Vallecitos regarding temperature, humidity,
and wind distributions. It appears that the excellent conditions at the optical
observatory benefit from the presence of microclimate established in the

Wildlife and Antibiotic Resistance
Antibiotic resistance is a major human health problem. While health care facilities are main contributors to the emergence, evolution and spread of antibiotic resistance, other ecosystems are involved in such dissemination. Wastewater, farm animals and pets have been considered important contributors to the development of antibiotic resistance. Herein, we review the impact of wildlife in such problem. Current evidence supports that the presence of antibiotic resistance genes and/or antibiotic resistant bacteria in wild animals is a sign of anthropic pollution more than of selection of resistance. However, once antibiotic resistance is present in the wild, wildlife can contribute to its transmission across different ecosystems. Further, the finding that antibiotic resistance genes, currently causing problems at hospitals, might spread through horizontal gene transfer among the bacteria present in the microbiomes of ubiquitous animals as cockroaches, fleas or rats, supports the possibility that these organisms might be bioreactors for the horizontal transfer of antibiotic resistance genes among human pathogens. The contribution of wildlife in the spread of antibiotic resistance among different hosts and ecosystems occurs at two levels. Firstly, in the case of non-migrating animals, the transfer will take place locally; a One Health problem. Paradigmatic examples are the above mentioned animals that cohabit with humans and can be reservoirs and vehicles for antibiotic resistance dissemination. Secondly, migrating animals, such as gulls, fishes or turtles may participate in the dissemination of antibiotic resistance across different geographic areas, even between different continents, which constitutes a Global Health issue. The BIODESERT survey: assessing the impacts of grazing on the structure and functioning of global drylands
Grazing by domestic livestock is both the main land use across drylands worldwide and a major desertification and global change driver. The ecological consequences of this key human activity have been studied for decades, and there is a wealth of information on its impacts on biodiversity and ecosystem processes. However, most field assessments of the ecological impacts of grazing on drylands conducted to date have been carried out at local or regional scales and have focused on single ecosystem attributes (e.g., plant productivity) or particular taxa (mainly aboveground, e.g., plants). Here we introduce the BIODESERT survey, the first systematic field survey devoted to evaluating the joint impacts of grazing by domestic livestock and climate on the structure and functioning of dryland ecosystems worldwide. This collaborative global survey was carried out between 2016 and 2019 and has involved the collection of field data and plant, biocrust, and soil samples from a total of 326 45 m × 45 m plots from 98 sites located in 25 countries from 6 continents. Here we describe the major characteristics and the field protocols used in this survey. We also introduce the organizational aspects followed, as these can be helpful to everyone wishing to establish a global collaborative network of researchers. System dependence graphs in sequential Erlang
The system dependence graph (SDG) is a data structure used in the imperative paradigm for different static analysis, and particularly, for program slicing. Program slicing allows us to determine the part of a program (called slice) that influences a given variable of interest. Thanks to the SDG, we can produce precise slices for interprocedural programs. Unfortunately, the SDG cannot be used in the functional paradigm due to important features that are not considered in this formalism (e.g., pattern matching, higher-order, composite expressions, etc.). In this work we propose the first adaptation of the SDG to a functional language facing these problems. We take Erlang as the host language and we adapt the algorithms used to slice the SDG to produce precise slices of Erlang interprocedural programs.
