DIPROSOPIA EM UM OVINO DE DOIS MESES DE IDADE

Fetal malformations are abnormalities extremely present in the sheep industry, and these are causing large numbers of deaths in young animals and premature. An extremely rare anomaly is the disease called of Diprosopia, which is a congenital anomaly in which the animal has a double skull and brain, also featuring a total separation or partial heads. The present work has the purpose of making an exploration about this disease, highlighting then some features of the disease as well as describe a case occurred in a sheep that managed to survived for two months with this rare abnormality. Therefore, the present work has the purpose of exploring this disease, describe some particularities of the pathology, as well as emphasizing a clinical case that occurred in a newborn sheep that survived for two months with this rare abnormality, where characteristically it was observed a Animal with a facial duplicity, however did not observe a clear division of the cranial box, the animal managed to have an extended period of survival because the owner had provided breastfeeding for this through bottle, and through forced feeding the animal acquired a serious aspiration bronchopneumonia Which culminated in his death.Malformação fetais são anomalias extremamente presentes na ovinocultura, sendo estas causadoras de altos números de mortes em animais jovens e prematuros. Uma anomalia especialmente rara é a doença denominada de diprosopia, que é uma anomalia congênita em que o animal apresenta uma duplicidade craniana e encefálica apresentando também uma separação parcial ou total das cabeças.Diante disso o presente trabalho tem a finalidade de fazer uma exploração a cerca desta enfermidade ressaltando algumas particularidades da patologia como também enfatizar um caso clínico ocorrido em um ovino recém nascido que conseguiu sobreviver durante dois meses com essa rara anormalidade, onde caracteristicamente observou-se um animal com uma duplicidade facial, entretanto não se observava uma clara divisão da caixa craniana, o animal conseguiu ter um período de sobrevida aumentado devido a proprietária ter proporcionado aleitamento para este através de mamadeira, e justamente através do aleitamento forçado ao animal, o mesmo adquiriu uma grave broncopneumonia aspirativa que culminou com a morte deste

Imaginários de nação no romance brasileiro contemporâneo: Os Rios inumeráveis e A República dos bugres

Programa de Pós-Graduação em Literatura.Esta tese apresenta a leitura de dois romances contemporâneos, produzidos na década de 90 do século XX, intitulados Os Rios Inumeráveis (1997), de Álvaro Cardoso Gomes, A República dos Bugres (1999), de Ruy Reis Tapioca. Esses romances fazem parte do romance histórico contemporâneo, que busca reconstruir, recompor, imaginar e ficcionalizar aspectos da história brasileira. Nesses romances, de fundo histórico, buscou-se verificar qual o imaginário de nação produzido na literatura brasileira do final do século XX. Efetuou-se um trabalho arqueológico, ao serem revisitados os textos formadores dos romances de Álvaro Cardoso Gomes e de Ruy Tapioca. Nessa revisita, percorreu-se uma série de problemas postos na formação da nação brasileira, tais como os desajustes das idéias importadas para a realidade brasileira, o mal-estar em nossa civilização e, conseqüentemente, em nossa cultura, a fim de se perceber como se faziam, essas questões, presentes nos textos em análise. Como se tratava de buscar a construção do imaginário sobre a nação em textos contemporâneos, que remetiam, no entanto, a imaginários já postos e repostos pela tradição historiográfica e literária brasileira, uma tensão básica perpassa a análise e o jogo que se constrói, nos romances, justamente entre essa tradição, ou/entre o cânone, e a contemporaneidade. Em suma, Álvaro Cardoso Gomes e Ruy Tapioca rompem com o cânone estabelecido sobre a nação, rompem, nesse sentido, com o discurso monológico erigido pelos construtores da nação, a partir do Romantismo, mesmo que imersos na contemporaneidade, ou o reafirmam? Qual a natureza, enfim, desse jogo nos romances analisados

A Spitzer c2d Legacy Survey to Identify and Characterize Disks with Inner Dust Holes

Understanding how disks dissipate is essential to studies of planet formation. However, identifying exactly how dust and gas dissipates is complicated due to difficulty in finding objects clearly in the transition of losing their surrounding material. We use Spitzer IRS spectra to examine 35 photometrically-selected candidate cold disks (disks with large inner dust holes). The infrared spectra are supplemented with optical spectra to determine stellar and accretion properties and 1.3mm photometry to measure disk masses. Based on detailed SED modeling, we identify 15 new cold disks. The remaining 20 objects have IRS spectra that are consistent with disks without holes, disks that are observed close to edge-on, or stars with background emission. Based on these results, we determine reliable criteria for identifying disks with inner holes from Spitzer photometry and examine criteria already in the literature. Applying these criteria to the c2d surveyed star-forming regions gives a frequency of such objects of at least 4% and most likely of order 12% of the YSO population identified by Spitzer. We also examine the properties of these new cold disks in combination with cold disks from the literature. Hole sizes in this sample are generally smaller than for previously discovered disks and reflect a distribution in better agreement with exoplanet orbit radii. We find correlations between hole size and both disk and stellar masses. Silicate features, including crystalline features, are present in the overwhelming majority of the sample although 10 micron feature strength above the continuum declines for holes with radii larger than ~7 AU. In contrast, PAHs are only detected in 2 out of 15 sources. Only a quarter of the cold disk sample shows no signs of accretion, making it unlikely that photoevaporation is the dominant hole forming process in most cases.Comment: 24 pages, 18 figures and 8 tables. Differentiation in Access to, and the Use and Sharing of (Open) Educational Resources among Students and Lecturers at Technical and Comprehensive Ghanaian Universities

This paper is the second in a series of three with a common goal to present a fair OER picture for Sub-Saharan Africa, represented by large-scale studies in three countries: Kenya, Ghana, and South Africa. This paper examines a deliberate selection of four Ghanaian universities with randomly sampled students and lecturers. Distinct questionnaires for students and the lecturers have been used, which generated a response from in total 818 students and 38 lecturers. The major outcomes based on the empirical data are: (i) there is a significant digital differentiation among lecturers and students at technical versus comprehensive universities in terms of their proficiency and internet accessibility; and (ii) the awareness and appreciation of the OER concept and open licensing is low but from the actual variety and types of processing by respondents of educational resources (not necessarily open) there is a preparedness for openness for the future

ASHY DERMATOSIS ASSOCIATED WITH ORAL ANTIDEPRESSANTS

Dermatose cinzenta ou eritema discrômico persistente (EDP) é uma síndrome clínica de classificação controversa. A condição é rara no Brasil. Foi descrita inicialmente em El Salvador, mas também tem sido encontra- da em vários países da América do Sul e em outras regiões do mundo. Sua etiologia é desconhecida, porém alguns autores acreditam que ela representa uma apresentação difusa de erupção medicamentosa fixa, enquanto outros a consideram como uma variante do líquen plano pigmentoso por apresentar achados histopatológicos semelhantes. Clinicamente apresenta-se com lesões na forma de numerosas máculas cinza de tamanhos variados. Não há trata- mento eficaz até o momento, no entanto, os benefícios foram relatados com o uso de clofazimina. Neste relato de caso, os autores descrevem um caso de ashy dermatose associada ao uso de inibidores específicos da recaptação da serotonina. The condition is rare in Brazil. It was initially reported in El Salvador but has also been found in several South American countries and in other regions of the world. Its etiology is unknown; however, some authors believe that it represents a diffuse presentation of fixed drug eruption, while others consider it to be a variant of lichen planus pigmentosus in view of the similar histopathological findings. Clinically, the condition presents with lesions in the form of numerous gray macules of varying sizes. There is no effective treatment to date; however, benefits have been repor- ted with the use of clofazimine. In this report, the authors describe a case of ashy dermatosis associated with the use of serotonin-specific reuptake inhibitors. Surto de sarampo na regiao metropolitana de Campinas, SP

O Brasil não apresenta circulação endêmica do vírus do sarampo desde o ano 2000. Entre maio e junho de 2011, a Região Metropolitana de Campinas, Estado de São Paulo, registrou três casos de sarampo. Foram descritos casos, as medidas de controle, a busca de possível fonte e de casos secundários. A caracterização genotípica do vírus identificou o genótipo D4, circulante no continente europeu. Não foram encontrados casos índice ou secundários. As medidas de controle efetuadas, aliadas à cobertura vacinal adequada da Região Metropolitana de Campinas contribuíram para que a transmissão da doença fosse interrompida
