An Nb-silicide based alloy will require some kind of coating system. Alumina and/or SiO2 forming alloys that are chemically compatible with the substrate could be components of such systems. In this work, the microstructures, and isothermal oxidation at 800 °C and 1200 °C of the alloys (at.%) Si-23Fe-15Cr-15Ti-1Nb (OHC1) and Si-25Nb-5Al-5Cr-5Ti (OHC5) were studied. The cast microstructures consisted of the (TM)6Si5, FeSi2Ti and (Fe,Cr)Si (OHC1), and the (Nb,Ti)(Si,Al)2, (Nb,Cr,Ti)6Si5, (Cr,Ti,Nb)(Si,Al)2 (Si)ss and (Al)ss (OHC5) phases. The same compounds were present in OHC1 at 1200 °C and the (Nb,Ti)(Si,Al)2 and (Nb,Cr,Ti)6Si5 in OHC5 at 1400 °C. In OHC1 the (TM)6Si5 was the primary phase, and the FeSi and FeSi2Ti formed a binary eutectic. In OHC5 the (Nb,Ti)(Si,Al)2 was the primary phase. At 800 °C both alloys did not pest. The scale of OHC1 was composed of SiO2, TiO2 and (Cr,Fe)2O3. The OHC5 formed a very thin and adherent scale composed of Al2O3, SiO2 and (Ti(1−x−y),Crx,Nby)O2. The scale on (Cr,Ti,Nb)(Si,Al)2 had an outer layer of SiO2 and Al2O3 and an inner layer of Al2O3. The scale on the (Nb,Cr,Ti)6Si5 was thin, and consisted of (Ti(1−x−y),Crx,Nby)O2 and SiO2 and some Al2O3 near the edges. In (Nb,Ti)(Si,Al)2 the critical Al concentration for the formation of Al2O3 scale was 3 at.%. For Al < 3 at.% there was internal oxidation. At 1200 °C the scale of OHC1 was composed of a SiO2 inner layer and outer layers of Cr2O3 and TiO2, and there was internal oxidation. It is most likely that a eutectic reaction had occurred in the scale. The scale of OHC5 was α-Al2O3. Both alloys exhibited good correlations with alumina forming Nb-Ti-Si-Al-Hf alloys and with non-pesting and oxidation resistant B containing Nb-silicide based alloys in maps of the parameters δ, Δχ and VEC

Coronin Is a Component of the Endocytic Collar of Hyphae of Neurospora crassa and Is Necessary for Normal Growth and Morphogenesis

Coronin plays a major role in the organization and dynamics of actin in yeast. To investigate the role of coronin in a filamentous fungus (Neurospora crassa), we examined its subcellular localization using fluorescent proteins and the phenotypic consequences of coronin gene (crn-1) deletion in hyphal morphogenesis, Spitzenkörper behavior and endocytosis. Coronin-GFP was localized in patches, forming a subapical collar near the hyphal apex; significantly, it was absent from the apex. The subapical patches of coronin colocalized with fimbrin, Arp2/3 complex, and actin, altogether comprising the endocytic collar. Deletion of crn-1 resulted in reduced hyphal growth rates, distorted hyphal morphology, uneven wall thickness, and delayed establishment of polarity during germination; it also affected growth directionality and increased branching. The Spitzenkörper of Δcrn-1 mutant was unstable; it appeared and disappeared intermittently giving rise to periods of hyphoid-like and isotropic growth respectively. Uptake of FM4-64 in Δcrn-1 mutant indicated a partial disruption in endocytosis. These observations underscore coronin as an important component of F-actin remodeling in N. crassa. Although coronin is not essential in this fungus, its deletion influenced negatively the operation of the actin cytoskeleton involved in the orderly deployment of the apical growth apparatus, thus preventing normal hyphal growth and morphogenesis

SSDSS IV MaNGA - Properties of AGN host galaxies

We present here the characterization of the main properties of a sample of 98 AGN host galaxies, both type-II and type-I, in comparison with those of about 2700 non-active galaxies observed by the MaNGA survey. We found that AGN hosts are morphologically early-type or early-spirals. For a given morphology AGN hosts are, in average, more massive, more compact, more central peaked and rather pressurethan rotational-supported systems. We confirm previous results indicating that AGN hosts are located in the intermediate/transition region between star-forming and non-star-forming galaxies (i.e., the so-called green valley), both in the ColorMagnitude and the star formation main sequence diagrams. Taking into account their relative distribution in terms of the stellar metallicity and oxygen gas abundance and a rough estimation of their molecular gas content, we consider that these galaxies are in the process of halting/quenching the star formation, in an actual transition between both groups. The analysis of the radial distributions of the starformation rate, specific star-formation rate, and molecular gas density shows that the quenching happens from inside-out involving both a decrease of the efficiency of the star formation and a deficit of molecular gas. All the intermediate data-products used to derive the results of our analysis are distributed in a database including the spatial distribution and average properties of the stellar populations and ionized gas, published as a Sloan Digital Sky Survey Value Added Catalog being part of the 14th Data Release: http://www.sdss.org/dr14/manga/manga-data/manga-pipe3d-value-added-catalog/Comment: 48 pages, 14 figures, in press in RMxA

http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.4521634 In recent years, Ecuador has experienced significant growth in the productive and business spheres, with changes that today maintain it as a regional leader in the entrepreneurial sphere. This indicator is categorized under two main parameters such as opportunity and necessity rates, and it is in the latter that we observe Ecuador stand out from its regional counterparts. The present work was carried out with the purpose of analyzing the perspective or incidence of the different parameters of innovations, such as: the idea and creativity as the basis for starting a business and the success and failure of the entrepreneur. The methodology used is descriptive since the behaviour of the analyzed data was observed and described, the technique used is bibliographic collection. The Ecuadorian entrepreneurship must have innovation and creativity when choosing and starting a business, creating day-by-day new ideas for its growth and development, since the success or failure will depend on it.http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.4521634 En los últimos años el Ecuador refleja un importante crecimiento en el ámbito productivo y empresarial, con cambios que hoy en día lo mantienen como líder regional en el ámbito emprendedor. Rib fractures are common lesions, being present in 10% of patients with closed chest trauma. It is not a serious pathology, but it is an indicator of morbidity and mortality. The risk complications, especially the pulmonary mechanics compromise of the affected patient makes it imperative to achieve optimal pain control. What makes multimodal analgesia an important pillar in the management of this entity, within this, the blocks with local anesthetic use, play an important role. Recently, the erector spinae plan block (ESP) with different analgesic purposes has been described given its anatomical coverage. This technique has been implemented for management of several painful syndromes and compromises with considerable success. This report attempts to describe the erector spinae plan block for analgesic control in a patient with several thorax fractures secondary to multiple trauma

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>The Airtraq® optical laryngoscope (Prodol Ltd., Vizcaya, Spain) is a novel disposable device facilitating tracheal intubation in routine and difficult airway patients. No data investigating routine tracheal intubation using the Airtaq® in patients at a high cardiac risk are available at present. Purpose of this study was to investigate the feasibility and hemodynamic implications of tracheal intubation with the Aitraq® optical laryngoscope, in high-risk cardio-surgical patients.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>123 consecutive ASA III patients undergoing elective coronary artery bypass grafting were routinely intubated with the Airtraq® laryngoscope. Induction of anesthesia was standardized according to our institutional protocol. All tracheal intubations were performed by six anesthetists trained in the use of the Airtraq® prior.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Overall success rate was 100% (n = 123). All but five patients trachea could be intubated in the first attempt (95,9%). 5 patients were intubated in a 2nd (n = 4) or 3rd (n = 1) attempt. Mean intubation time was 24.3 s (range 16-128 s). Heart rate, arterial blood pressure and SpO2 were not significantly altered. Minor complications were observed in 6 patients (4,8%), i.e. two lesions of the lips and four minor superficial mucosal bleedings. Intubation duration (p = 0.62) and number of attempts (p = 0.26) were independent from BMI and Mallampati score.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Tracheal intubation with the Airtraq® optical laryngoscope was feasible, save and easy to perform in high-risk patients undergoing cardiac surgery. In all patients, a sufficient view on the vocal cords could be obtained, independent from BMI and preoperative Mallampati score.</p> <p>Trial Registration</p> <p>DRKS 00003230</p
