    This study aims to describe the character of students received from the zoning system and to find out the teacher's efforts in dealing with the heterogeneous character of students as the impact of the zoning system at UPT SMPN 5 Gresik and to provide an understanding for the teacher to appropriate the efforts used to deal with the heterogeneous character of students as a impact of the zoning system. The theory used is the theory of good character foarmation by Thomas Lickona. The concept of this theory shows that character is formed into three interrelated parts, namely moral knowledge, moral feelings, and moral behavior. The research method used is a qualitative approach with an exploratory design. Data collection techniques using observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The selection of informants as the source of the research data was selected by using purposive sampling technique. The informants of this study include Pancasila & Citizenship Education Teachers, Counseling Guidance Teachers, Islamic Religious Education Teachers and Deputy Principals for Student Affairs. The results of the research carried out revealed that the character of the zoning system students was considered poor brcause they do not have enough tolerance, discipline, responsible, and the efforts made by the teacher, namely by implementing 5S habits in learning at school so that students were more polite towards teachers and peers. The teacher gives punishment to students with poor character. The teacher will conduct individual counseling and provide group guidance and provide reinforcement through religious activities.     Volatility spillover between Bitcoin and financial stress index

    PURPOSE: This paper aims to test the volatility models for Bitcoin (BTC) and the financial stress index (FSI) and examine the volatility spillover among them. This aim was reached by obtaining weekly data from the 7th of January 2011 and the 24th of December 2021.METHODOLOGY: First, volatility modelling for the series is provided, and GARCH (1,1) for the BTC series and IGARC (1,2) for the FSI series are determined as the most appropriate volatility models. Then, residual volatility series are created for each variable over the IGARCH (1,2) and GARCH (1,1) models for the volatility spread between the series. The volatility spread between the series is examined with the diagonal VECH GARCH method. It is concluded that there is a positive volatility spillover effect from the FSI variable to the BTC variable. Then, impulse-response analysis is performed on the volatility residual series created for each variable. The empirical findings from impulse response analysis support a risk transfer between BTC and FSI series.RESULTS AND FINDINGS: Changes in the BTC return series and FSI series are caused mainly by themselves, and the series are most affected by their shocks. By comparing the variance decomposition of the volatility series with the analysis results, it can be said that the changes in the volatility series are caused mainly by each other.peer-reviewe

    Strengths and weaknesses of inviting men to a voluntary-based domestic violence intervention

    This study examines the factors motivating domestic violence perpetrators to participate in a voluntary-based intervention program. The experiences and determining factors around men’s positive and negative responses to this invitation were examined through semi-structured interviews with professionals, observations, and reflexive notes during the first meeting with 29 men. Two major themes emerged from the thematic analysis: the factors making men more likely to attend the first meeting or resisting the group intervention. These findings can help professionals recognize the challenges of inviting perpetrators to interventions, especially in countries with insufficient laws for mandated domestic violence perpetrator programs. The paper discusses the importance during the first meeting of building rapport and trust and recognizing complex family histories to encourage voluntary attendance and intervention engagement

    Abstrak Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan peran guru dalam komunikasi interpersonal dengan siswa khususnya pada proses pembelajaran di SMP Ulul Albab, Kecamatan Taman, Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Data dikumpulkandengan menggunakan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Dalam menetapkan informan menggunakan tekniksnowball sampling. Data dianalisis dengan teknik pengumpulan data, penyajian data, penarikan kesimpulan, dan keabsahan data. Berdasarkan analisis data yang dilakukan, diperoleh hasil bahwa peran guru dalam komunikasi interpersonal dengan siswa pada proses pembelajaran meliputi peran guru sebagai pembimbing dalam mengubah sikap dan tingkah laku siswa, peran guru sebagai model dalam mengubah sikap dan tingkah laku siswa, dan peran guru sebagai mentor (penasehat) dalam mengubah sikap dan tingkah laku siswa, melibatkan lima sikap positif yang mendukung terjadinya komunikasi interpersonal dengan siswa pada proses pembelajaran antara lain sikap keterbukaan, sikap empati, sikap positif, sikap mendukung berupa ketegasan yang konstruktif, dan sikap kesetaraan. Dihasilkan sebuah kesimpulanperan guru dalam melakukan komunikasi interpersonal dengan siswa pada proses pembelajaran di SMP Ulul Albab Taman-Sidoarjo sudahpositif, karena guru dalam melaksanakan perannya pada proses pembelajaran melibatkan lima sikap positif yang mendukung komunikasi interpersonal, sehingga guru dan siswa mampu bekerjasama dalam menciptakan suasana pembelajaran yang menyenangkan. Hal ini dapat dilihat saat siswa berani bertanya, dan siswa berani mengemukakan pendapat pada proses pembelajaran.   Kata Kunci: Peran Guru, Komunikasi Interpersonal, Siswa Abstract The purpose of this research is to described role of teachers in communication interpersonal with students in particular to the process their experiences in the junior high school Ulul Albab, Kecamatan Taman, Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Data were collected by using observation,interview, and documentation.In setting informants using a technique snowball sampling.Data analyzed by technique data collection, presentation of data, the withdrawal of conclusion, and the validity of data.Based on data analysis done, obtained the result that role of teachers in communication interpersonal with students on learning covering role of teachers as the tutors during change attitude and behavior students, the teacher as a model in change attitude and behavior students, and role of teachers as mentor (advisors) in change attitude and behavior students, involving five positiveness that supports the communication interpersonal with students to the process learning between other attitude openness, an empathy, positiveness, attitude support of firmness constructive, and attitude equality. produced a conclusion role of teacher in communicating interpersonal with students on the teaching process in junior high school Ulul Albab,Taman-Sidoarjo is positive, because teachers in carrying out its role in learning involving five positiveness that supports communication interpersonal namely attitude openness, an empathy, positiveness, attitude equality, and attitude support.     Islam dan Multikulturalisme: Urgensi, Transformasi, dan Implementasi dalam Pendidikan Formal

    The current development of society demonstrates openness in evaluating various aspects of life, including understanding towards religious matter. In another side, this fact turns into a challenge because some people, especially some Muslims, are still exclusive. Responding to the challenge, Islam as a set of universal principle should operate in providing solutions through its views upon the essence of multiculturalism. This paper examines theoretically the factual reality of multiculturalism in Indonesia, how Islam positions multiculturalism, and views for educational institutions in developing multiculturalism perspectives to grow inclusive attitudes in society. The results of the study show that the multiculturalism facts in Indonesia cannot be neglegted and must be maintained  and developed by promoting tolerance and justice. In Islamic perspectives, multiculturalism is a fact that is often found in the al-Qur’an and Hadith as well as in the historical records of the Prophet’s life. Through educational channels, the perspective of multiculturalism can be disseminated to develop a society that respects the value and practice of the multiculturalism itself.Perkembangan masyarakat saat ini menunjukkan keterbukaan dalam menilai berbagai aspek kehidupan termasuk dalam pemahaman keagamaan. Hal ini menjadi tantangan karena selama ini sebagian masyarakat, khususnya sebagian umat Islam, masih memiliki sikap eksklusif. Menjawab tantangan tersebut, Islam sebagai ajaran universal berperan penting memberikan solusi melalui ajaran-ajarannya tentang esensi dasar multikulturalisme. Tulisan ini mengkaji secara teoritik kenyataan faktual multikulturalisme di Indonesia, bagaimana Islam memposisikan multikulturalisme, dan pandangan bagi lembaga pendidikan dalam mengembangkan perspektif multikulturalisme untuk tumbuhnya dan sikap inklusif di tengah masyarakat. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa fakta multikulturalisme bangsa Indonesia merupakan suatu keniscayaan untuk dipelihara dan dikembangkan keberlangsungannya dengan mengedepankan sikap toleransi dan keadilan. Dalam perspektif Islam, multikulturalisme adalah fakta yang banyak ditemui pada al-Quran dan Hadits dan pada fakta historis kehidupan Nabi sendiri. Melalui saluran pendidikan, perspektif multikulturalisme dapat disemai untuk mengembangkan mengembangkan masyarakat yang menghargai nilai dan praktis kemajemukan itu sendiri

    Evaluation of epicardial fat tissue thickness and aortic stiffness in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus

    Objective We aimed to assess the relationship between gestational diabetes mellitus and coronary artery disease by measuring epicardial fat tissue thickness and aortic stiffness in pregnant women diagnosed with gestational diabetes mellitus. Methods 28 pregnant women diagnosed with gestational diabetes mellitus and 25 pregnant women without gestational diabetes mellitus were included in the research. Body mass index, laboratory values, blood pressure measurements and obstetric history findings of the study population were recorded. All participants of the study population were evaluated with transthoracic echocardiography between 24 and 28 weeks of gestational period. The measurement of epicardial fat tissue thickness was taken and aortic stiffness index was also calculated. Results The age, gravidity, parity and obstetric history of the two groups were similar. Epicardial fat tissue thickness was found significantly higher in gestational diabetes mellitus group than control group (0.416 cm and 0.336 cm, respectively; p<0.001). However, no significant difference was found in aortic stiffness measurements of the two groups (p=0.079). Conclusion According to the results of our study, epicardial fat tissue thickness was found to be statistically significantly higher in pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus compared to the control group. The fact that no difference was detected in other cardiovascular parameters suggests that measurement of epicardial fat tissue thickness in gestational period may be a beneficial adjunctive tool in early detection of gestational diabetes mellitus

    Sustainability and performance analysis of a solar and wind energy assisted hybrid dryer

    In this study, energy, exergy and sustainability analysis of the solar and wind energy assisted hybrid drying system were discussed. The drying process was carried out by solar dryer. Wind energy was used to provide the electrical energy required for the operation of the fan in the drying unit. So, no external energy source was required for the drying process. The main purpose of the study was to contribute to the development of an economical and environmentally friendly drying system that was operated using only two different renewable energy sources. The drying characteristics of banana slices were determined in the experiments. It was found that the exergy efficiency of the dryer was in the range of 68.04-83.89%, as a result of the experiments. The system was also examined in terms of waste exergy rate, improvement potential and environmental sustainability. The evaluations showed that the hybrid dryer had 57.7% and 21.52% higher exergy efficiency compared to other conventional solar dryers and solar assisted-hybrid dryers, respectively. Moreover, the energy payback period was determined as 1.36 years. This result clearly indicated that the system can recover the energy it consumed in approximately 38.18% shorter time compared to other solar dryers.(c) 2022 Elsevier Ltd.
