In this work we describe two bell beakers, with filiation in productions of
Southern Meseta, whose remaining portions were collected in the corridor of the dolmen
of Bencafede (concelho of Évora). The respective comparative study was done, being outstanding
the occurrences so far known in the Portuguese territory of bell beaker productions
with identical origin, all in stations of the Alto and Baixo Alentejo. To finish, one
brief synthesis is presented on the occurrence of Bell-Beakers findings, including a summary
typological characterization and its geographic distribution
Merece destaque a análise
A Cabranosa vem, deste
Andaluzia ocidental). In this work we study the archeological materials collected on the surface and during the excavation of the Early Neolithic site of Cabranosa. These materials are studied in detail for the first time and the absolute date of the site is given. The cardial ceramics group of artifacts is one of the largest in portuguese territory with several vessels nearly complete. Remains of stone work (flakes, nuclei) predominate in the flint group of artefacts as well as an important component of lamellae obtained by pression technique this local productions used the silex available in the region and the same ocurred for polisbed stone tools. The settlement appears stable and based on the berding of ovricaprids, on an incipient agriculture made on sandy soils near-by the rivers and on the collection of marine resources available at less than 2 km distance. The settlement of Cabranosa documents the existence in this region of sedentary populations dedicated to agriculture and berding during the Early Neolithic. Some nom-cardinal vessels suggest an exogenous origin, but from distances less than 40km. In terms of cultural integration, this human settlement presents stronger affinities with the late cardial Neolithic of the Mediterranean litoral (East Andaluzia Valencia)than with the nearest regions (littoral Alentejo and West Andaluzia)
A group of amphorae collected in the site "Cidade das Rosas" (Serpa), a roman villa from Serpa region, on the left margin of the Guadiana river, is studied. There was a small proportion of wine and olive
oil amphorae and higher proportion of those related to the fish derivates: this is a fea ture common with other studied groups of amphorae from Alto and Baixo Alentejo. Unlike these, however, the studied
ensemble presents a low representation of Dressel 14 type, and instead it has a large number of Beltran II.
This situation may be explained by the strong economic liaison between lhe roman villae located on the left margin ofthe Guadiana and the southern littoral areas, using the river as a waterway. From there, fish by-products and oysters were imported, rather than those comming from the Sado and Tejo estuaries. Only when the betic amphorae begun their decline, those coming from the Sado and Tejo became dominant. An
interesting aspect is related to the production of some Almagro 50 amphorae, from the betic área, confimed by the results from the analysis perfomed (both macroscopic as the observation of thin sections), namely the likelihood with the Beltran II productions
Phenotypic characterization of national Brazilian buffalo breeds and Baio type
_________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThe objective of this study was to verify the influence of environmental and genetic factors on buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) of the Carabao, Jaffarabadi, Mediterranean, and Murrah breeds and of the Baio type, utilizing the GLM procedure of SAS (Statistical Analysis System). The mean birth weight was 32.79 kg (from 32.22 to 34.71 kg), mature female weight was 514.31 kg, first calving interval was 501.30 days (from 483 to 564 days), service period was 191.30 days (from 86 to 190 days), age at first calving was 1,088.03 days (from 1,040 to 1,156 days) and calving interval was 380.32 days (from 373 to 392 days). Sire group significantly affected all traits studied, except mature female weight. Calf sex affected both birth weight and age at first calving. Calving order affected birth weight, service period and calving interval while year of calving significantly affected most traits studied. The productive characteristics studied on the buffalo populations raised on the Brazilian Amazon show that this species is well adapted to those harsh conditions and that it can be considered as an alternative for breeders
Unitary representations of cyclotomic hecke algebras at roots of unity: Combinatorial classification and BGG resolutions
We relate the classes of unitary and calibrated representations of cyclotomic Hecke algebras, and, in particular, we show that for the most important deformation parameters these two classes coincide. We classify these representations in terms of both multipartition combinatorics and as the points in the fundamental alcove under the action of an affine Weyl group. Finally, we cohomologically construct these modules via BGG resolutions
Exercise‑based cardiac rehabilitation and parasympathetic function in patients with coronary artery disease: a systematic review and meta‑analysis
Purpose The effects of exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation (CR) on parasympathetic modulation are controversial. This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to (a) determine the effect of exercise-based CR on heart-rate-derived indices associated with cardiac parasympathetic modulation in resting and post-exercise conditions in coronary artery disease (CAD) patients and (b) identify the possible moderator variables of the effect of exercise-based CR on parasympathetic modulation. Methods We searched CENTRAL and Web of Science up to November 2018 for the following terms: adult CAD patients, controlled exercise-based CR interventions and parasympathetic modulation measured in resting (vagal-related heart rate variability [HRV] indices of the root mean square of the differences in successive in RR interval [RMSSD] and high frequency
[HF]) and post-exercise (heart rate recovery [HRR]) pre- and post-intervention. We estimated a random-effects model of standardised mean difference (SMD) and mean difference (MD) for vagal-related HRV indices and HRR, respectively. We assessed the influence of categorical and continuous variables.
Results The overall effect size showed significant differences in RMSSD (SMD+ = 0.30; 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.12–0.49) and HRR (MD+ = 5.35; 95% CI = 4.08–6.61 bpm) in favour of the exercise-based CR group. The overall effect size showed no differences in HF between groups (SMD+ = 0.14; 95% CI, −0.12–0.40). Heterogeneity analyses reached statistical significance, with high heterogeneity for HF (p < 0.001; I2 = 70%) and HRR (p < 0.001; I2 = 85%). Analysis of the moderator variables showed that the effect on HRR is greater in young patients (p = 0.008) and patients treated with percutaneous intervention (p = 0.020).
Conclusions Exercise-based CR improves the post-exercise parasympathetic function, with greater effects in younger CAD patients and in those who were revascularised with percutaneous intervention. The effects on resting parasympathetic function are more controversial due to methodological inconsistencies in measuring HRV, with the use of RMSSD recommended instead of HF because its results show higher consistency. Future studies involving women, focusing on methodological issues, and performing other training methods are needed to increase our knowledge about this topic
