Allatostatin-C antagonizes the synergistic myostimulatory effect of allatotropin and serotonin in <i>Rhodnius prolixus</i> (Stal)
Haematophagous insects can ingest large quantities of blood in a single meal producing a large quantity of urine in the following hours to eliminate the excess of water and mineral ions incorporated. The excretory activity of the Malpighian tubules is facilitated by an increase in haemolymph circulation as a result of the intensification of aorta contractions, combined with an increase of anterior midgut peristaltic waves. We have recently shown that haemolymph circulation during post-prandial diuresis is modulated by the synergistic activity of allatotropin (AT) and serotonin, resulting in an increase in aorta and crop contraction rates. In the present study we describe the antagonistic effect of allatostatin-C (AST-C) on the increase of aorta frequency of contractions induced by serotonin/AT in Rhodnius prolixus. The administration of AST-C counteracted the increase in the frequency induced by the treatment with serotonin/ AT, but did not affect the increase in frequency induced by the administration of serotonin alone, suggesting that AST-C is altering the synergism between serotonin and AT. Furthermore, the administration of AST-C during post-prandial diuresis decreases the number of peristaltic waves of the anterior midgut. The AST-C putative receptor is expressed in the hindgut, midgut and dorsal vessel, three critical organs involved in post-prandial diuresis. The basal frequency of contractions of the aorta in the afternoon is higher that the observed during the morning, suggesting the existence of a daily rhythmic activity. The AT receptor is expressed in the rectum, midgut and dorsal vessel, three critical organs involved in post-randial diuresis. Relación y comparación entre las variables de clima organizacional, satisfacción y calidad de vida en una empresa de ventas por teléfono en el noroeste de México
Purpose. The assessment of the relationship between organizational climate variables, job satisfaction, and quality of life in a telephone sales company in northwest Mexico.
Methodology. A total of 194 employees participated, including 157 telephone advisors and 36 administrative staff, of which 77 were men and 115 women. Measure scales were applied to assess organizational climate, job satisfaction, and quality of life. Means were compared through contrast tests and correlations.
Findings. Significant differences were found by gender, age, position, and work experience, with lower job satisfaction being perceived among women and telephone advisors.
Originality. The relationship between the organizational climate and job satisfaction and the way in which these impact the quality of life of the employee in call sales companies is a thematic space where social sciences and engineering converge. It is important for the sustainability of these companies to study their senior management leadership style, organizational structure and internal management practices to achieve higher levels of effectiveness than their competitors.
Conclusions. The work environment and job satisfaction in a call center have a significant correlation with turnover in young undergraduate students, mainly women.Objetivo. Se midió la relación entre las variables de clima organizacional, satisfacción laboral y calidad de vida, en una empresa de ventas por teléfono en el noroeste de México.
Metodología. Participaron 194 empleados, 157 eran asesores telefónicos y 36 del personal administrativo, 77 hombres y 115 mujeres. Se aplicaron las escalas de clima organizacional, satisfacción laboral y calidad de vida. Se realizaron comparaciones de medias a través de pruebas de contraste y correlaciones.
Hallazgos. Se encontraron diferencias significativas por sexo, edad, puesto y experiencia laboral, donde destaca la percepción de menor satisfacción laboral en mujeres y asesores telefónicos.
Originalidad. La relación entre el clima organizacional, la satisfacción laboral y la manera en la cual estas impactan la calidad de vida del empleado en las empresas de venta por llamada es un espacio temático donde convergen ciencias sociales y de ingeniería. Es importante para la sostenibilidad de estas empresas el estudio de su estilo de liderazgo de alta dirección, estructura organizacional y prácticas internas de gestión para alcanzar niveles más altos de efectividad que sus competidores (Dhoopar et al., 2023).
Conclusiones. El clima y la satisfacción en un centro de llamadas tienen un nivel importante de correlación con la rotación para jóvenes estudiantes de pregrado en su mayoría mujeres
Sesgo hacia el presente, fuentes de financiamiento y variables productivas: evidencia de un grupo de productores de leche en Hermosillo, Sonora
El objetivo de este trabajo es relacionar el sesgo hacia el presente (SHP) con la elección de fuentes de financiamiento y variables productivas de un grupo de productores de leche en Hermosillo, Sonora. Se seleccionó de manera intencional una muestra de 53 productores de leche (8 mujeres y 45 hombres) con un rango de edad de 29 a 73 años. A través de un cuestionario socioeconómico, productivo, financiero y una prueba de elección, se encontró que (a) el 51% de los productores optan por fuentes informales de financiamiento, de los cuales el 72% presentaron SHP; (b) se registró una producción total de leche de 7,128 litros diarios, en donde el 59% del volumen producido correspondió a productores con SHP; y (c) se obtuvieron diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre el SHP y el tipo de fuente de financiamiento, pero no entre el SHP y la producción. Los resultados obtenidos en la presente investigación no solamente reflejan la alta prevalencia de SHP en los productores, sino que también presentan inconsistencia en sus preferencias, mismas que pueden afectar el desarrollo de la unidad de producción
