The effectiveness of dried palm oil mill effluent (decanter cake), which contains 14% organic carbon, and iron solution in promoting aggregation in sand tailing soil was determined. The addition of iron (JT decanter cake at rates of 20 and 60 t h«l had no significant effect on the aggregation and stability of the sand. At a higher rate of 100 t h«l, decanter cake gave a significant effect on aggregate stability. With the addition of 0.1 % Fe, the rate of decanter cake application for effective stabilization was reduced to almost half. However, generally the extent of aggregatian was law (% aggregation>2mm was only 5.6%). This could be due to the low amount of very fine sand and silt amounting to only 5.8%, and the absence of clay in the sand tailings. It is postulated that an improvement in the soil structure of sandy tailings using amendments essentially requires the presence of fine soil fractions viz. clay and silt and/or very fine sand in sufficient amounts. Their presence will kad to better soil structure Jonnation in the sand tailings by the amendments and hence to better water and nutrient economy of the soil

Identifying Predictors of Academic Success for Part-Time Students at Polytechnic Institutes in Malaysia

A central challenge for higher education today is to understand the diversity and complexity of nontraditional students’ life experiences and how these factors influence their academic success. To better understand these issues, this study explored the role of demographic characteristics and employment variables in predicting the academic success of part-time students at four polytechnic institutes in Malaysia. Demographic characteristics studied included respondent’s age, gender, marital status, number of children, parent’s educational level, and financial resources. Employment variables assessed were number of years working, job relatedness to the program, job satisfaction, and monthly salary. A total of 614 part-time students completed the survey. Results indicated that being an older student, being female, paying for their own education, and having high job satisfaction were statistically significant predictors of part-time students’ academic success. Understanding the effects of demographic characteristics and employment variables on students’ academic success might help administrators and educators to develop teaching and learning processes, support services, and policies to enhance part-time students’ academic success

Outcome-Based Education (OBE) is now identified as essential to excellence in education. OBE can be described as the transparent application of a set of measurable criteria in setting a standard of proficiency. The students’ perception is the most crucial part as they are the medium of the system, as they are the ones who undergo the system thoroughly, and are the final product of the OBE system. Thus, their perception will directly show the effectiveness of the OBE system. This study focused on students’ perception on OBE system that had been applied in KPJ Healthcare University College (KPJUC) since 2014, in terms of students’ understanding and academic achievement. This is a mixed model study, which consisted of quantitative and qualitative study. A descriptive method of analysis was used, wherein the quantitative data were gathered using questionnaires and a survey interview was done as a qualitative supplementary data. The findings of this study discovered that the students have a positive perception toward the system

The purpose of this study is to describe the increase in the activity of learners in the learning of Natural Sciences using inquiry methods. This study used a descriptive method of research is the form of action research. This research was conducted for 3 cycles. The results of this study are as follows: baseline physical activity indicator by 24.64% to 97.10% the third cycle. There is a difference of 72.46%. Thus the increase in physical activity can be categorized as "High". Baseline on indicators of mental activity by 21.01% to 96.36% the third cycle. There is a difference of 75.35%. Thus the increase in mental activity can be categorized as "High". Baseline on indicators of emotional activity of 23.92% to 97.83% .Terdapat third cycle difference of 73.91%. Thus the increase in emotional activity can be categorized as "High"

One of the crucial elements in developing or reformulating product is to maintain the quality throughout its entire shelf life. This study aims to determine the effect of different cooking time on the almond milk-based of lemak cili api gravy. Various cooking times of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 minutes were employed to the almond milk-based lemak cili api gravy followed by determination of their effects on physical properties such as total soluble solids content, pH and colour. pH was determined by using a pH meter. Refractometer was used to evaluate the total soluble solids content of almond milk-based lemak cili api gravy. The colours were determined by using spectrophotometer which expressed as L*, a* and b* values. Results showed that almond milk-based lemak cili api gravy has constant values of total soluble solids with pH range of 5 to 6, which can be classified as low acid food. Colour analysis showed that the lightness (L*) and yellowness (b*) are significantly increased while redness (a*) decreased. In conclusion, this study shows that physical properties of almond milk-based lemak cili api gravy changes by increasing the cooking time

This project paper study on the turn-of-the-month (TOM) effect in Estate Investment Trusts (Reits) in Singapore. The study is using five Reds companies that listed in main board Singapore Stock Exchange from 2002 until 2007. The main objective of this study is to examine whether the seasonality affect can be detected in tea' estate investment trust company in small country like Singapore. The sub Objective is to examine whether the TOM effect exist in real estate investment trust. The other Sub Objective is to examine whether the ROM effect exist in red estate investment trust. The test is using parametric and nonparametric test, The parametric test used by independent sample test and non. parametric test is used by Wilcoxon Signed Ranks (WSR) test. By using the independent sample test in order to test the differences between TOM return and ROM return, shows that there is not significantly difference Bur by looking the mean difference show that the ROM return is grater than the TOM return. By using the WSR to compare between the TOM return and the ROM return shows that two out of five companies have significantly difference the other three companies are hot significantly difference. The result shows that TOM effect can be detected by using non-parametric test not parametric test. Even Singapore is a small country there is also have seasonality effect

The Effect Of Trade Specialization And Institutional Quality On Intra-Asean Trade

Intra-ASEAN trade is stagnant at 20% to 25% for the past few decades. This is partly because ASEAN members are overl-reliant on non-ASEAN countries for their exports. Several suggestions have been put forward such as exchange rates and trade agreement which observed so far as having limited effect to increase intra-ASEAN trade. In this study, we propose and examine the role of trade specialization and the quality of institutions among ASEAN for a period between 1996 and 2015. ASEAN countries are generally endowed with similar resources have a tendency to compete with each other for similar products
