    H_infinity controller design to control the single axis magnetic levitation system with parametric uncertainty

    In this study the force control design of single axis magnetic levitation system using H_infinity controller is presented. First, the system dynamics are linearized and described in transfer function form. Second, the magnetic force is regulated using H_infinity controller to achieve robust stability, disturbance/noise rejection and asymptotic tracking. A multiplicative unstructured model extracted from the parametric uncertainty is used for H_infinity control design. The obtained results showed that robust stability and performance have been achieved. On the other hand, an improved and more reliable time response compared with previous work also has been achieved in this study

    A Study of the Expression of Aflatoxin B1 Regulatory Gene in Clinical and Environmental Aspergillus flavus using Real-time PCR

    This recent study investigated the differences in the expression of Aflatoxin B1 regulatory gene among clinical and environmental (Aspergillus flavus) isolates. Samples were subjected to RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis and PCR amplification. Electrophoresis demonstrated clean bands 798 bp upon amplification with aflR1 primers. The ability of A. flavus confirmed the presence of the aflR2 gene in product size 400 bp in all the studied isolates with a different gene expression (Sentence not clear. Rephrase). There was a direct correlation between the aflr gene expression and the isolates source. The source of isolates significantly influenced the aflr gene expression. It appeared that the aflr gene expression increased at the A. flavus isolated from patients with aspergillosis with a gradual gene expression in A. flavus isolated from grains of Zea mays (maize) and with no clear expression in the A. flavus isolated from rice grain. These results indicate a suitable molecular method for detecting and controlling the spread of A. flavus in the grainer and in hospitals to avoid infection

    [EN] We report the development of a table-top high peak power Titanium:Sapphire (Ti:Sa) CPA laser working at 100 Hz capable of delivering 205 mJ, 55 fs pulses. Every amplification stage is pumped by Nd-doped solid-state lasers and fully powered by diodes. Thermal effects in the Ti:Sa amplifiers are compensated passively with optics.     Postoperative outcomes in oesophagectomy with trainee involvement

    BACKGROUND: The complexity of oesophageal surgery and the significant risk of morbidity necessitates that oesophagectomy is predominantly performed by a consultant surgeon, or a senior trainee under their supervision. The aim of this study was to determine the impact of trainee involvement in oesophagectomy on postoperative outcomes in an international multicentre setting. METHODS: Data from the multicentre Oesophago-Gastric Anastomosis Study Group (OGAA) cohort study were analysed, which comprised prospectively collected data from patients undergoing oesophagectomy for oesophageal cancer between April 2018 and December 2018. Procedures were grouped by the level of trainee involvement, and univariable and multivariable analyses were performed to compare patient outcomes across groups. RESULTS: Of 2232 oesophagectomies from 137 centres in 41 countries, trainees were involved in 29.1 per cent of them (n = 650), performing only the abdominal phase in 230, only the chest and/or neck phases in 130, and all phases in 315 procedures. For procedures with a chest anastomosis, those with trainee involvement had similar 90-day mortality, complication and reoperation rates to consultant-performed oesophagectomies (P = 0.451, P = 0.318, and P = 0.382, respectively), while anastomotic leak rates were significantly lower in the trainee groups (P = 0.030). Procedures with a neck anastomosis had equivalent complication, anastomotic leak, and reoperation rates (P = 0.150, P = 0.430, and P = 0.632, respectively) in trainee-involved versus consultant-performed oesophagectomies, with significantly lower 90-day mortality in the trainee groups (P = 0.005). CONCLUSION: Trainee involvement was not found to be associated with significantly inferior postoperative outcomes for selected patients undergoing oesophagectomy. The results support continued supervised trainee involvement in oesophageal cancer surgery

    631 The Effect of Serotonin on Leptin and Grelin Hormones Concentrations in Female Rats

    This study was aimed to investigate the relationship of hyperserotoninemia on the adipose tissues performance and satiety status on thirty six female rats. Randomly divided into four groups that individually housed. The first group of six females as a short-term study were given daily serotonin (25 mg/kg) for a week and six controls received saline subcutaneously. Long-term treatment study included 12 females given daily serotonin injections for 3 months vs. 12 controls given saline. The results show significantly decreased in body weights after 7 days and 3 months serotonin injection with mean (200 ± 9.31 g vs. controls 224 ± 11.9 g, p = 0.003 and 234 ± 7.12 g vs. controls 246 ± 14.8 g, p = 0.025 respectively). Plasma leptin were significantly decreased in the rats syringe with serotonin after short-term (133±32.0 vs. controls 208±58.4 pg/ml; p = 0.029) and long-term treatment (172 ± 35.6 vs. controls: 234 ± 60.5 pg/ml; p = 0.007), whereas ghrelin concentrations were unaffected. Consequently, hyperserotoninemia results in low concentrations of plasma leptin with unaffected ghrelin concentrations that may explains a direct serotonin influence on adipose tissues with a significant reduction in body weights of rats vs. control

    Uterus didelphys in a buffalo heifer: a case report

    Uterus didelphys or true double cervix is a congenital anatomical defect of the female genital tract of monotocous species, including cattle and humans (1). The defect is characterized by presence of completely separated cervices, each one leading to a separate uterine horn. The condition has been attributed to failure of fusion of the caudal portions of the paramesonephric ducts during embryonic development, resulting in a double cervix or a divided uterine funds (2). These cases could conceive normally, but may show dystocia due to a fetal limb entering each cervical canal (3). Case reports of uterus didelphys in cows are sporadic (4,5).
