A note on a value with incomplete communication

    Get PDF
The Myerson's models on partial cooperation in cooperative games have been studied extensively by Borm, Owen, Tijs and Myerson. Hamiache proposes a new solution concept for the case in which the communication relations among players are modelled by means of an undirected graph. In this work, we analize this value making some vagueness clear, generalize this value to other models of partial cooperation emphasizing the differences in the generalization and we include some comparative calculations of this value with the Myerson value and the position value.Cooperative game, Myerson value, position value, consistency.

The degree of implementation of the Absys library programme in the centres included in the corporate license held by the Andalusian regional government is analysed focussing on 4 aspects: library/centre resources, use of the 8 basic functions of Absys, reference manuals and technical support. Of the 109 questionnaires sent to the 8 Andalusian provinces, 104 were returned fully answered: 6 from Almeria, 5 from Cadiz, 16 from Cordoba, 18 from Granada, 19 from Huelva, 4 from Jaen, 15 from Malaga and 21 from Seville. The province where there are the highest number of installations of the programme is Seville, followed by Huelva, Granada, Málaga and Cordoba

    Get PDF
Probabilistic values for bicooperative games

    Get PDF
The present paper develops some general conditions under which we analize the bicooperative games introduced by Bilbao (2000). We define the probabilistic values for these games and observe in detail the axioms that characterize such values. Following the work of Weber (1988), these axioms are sequentially introduced observing how they have repercussions on the probabilistic value expression. Also, we introduce the compatible-order values and show the relationship between these values and the efficiency values such that their components are probabilistic values.Bicooperative games, Probabilistic values, Compatible-order values

The Shapley value for bicooperative games

    Get PDF
The aim of the present paper is to study a one-point solution concept for bicooperative games. For these games introduced by Bilbao (2000), we define a one-point solution called the Shapley value, since this value can be interpreted in a similar way to the classical Shapley value for cooperative games. The main result of the paper is an axiomatic characterization of this value.Bicooperative games, Shapley value.

The Tree in Alison and Peter Smithson’s Architecture

[EN] Alison and Peter Smithson were heirs to an outstanding landscape tradition that refers architecture to nature, giving the tree a leading value in this linkage. Their trees are related to architecture in different ways: always respected, sometimes the tree becomes their geometric or symbolic centre; at times it is adapted and "involved" in family life; eventually, the tree is used as the generating idea of a project to later be forgotten or formally hidden, or on the contrary, to manifest itself openly through its construction; often, the tree becomes lattice and seems to dress the architecture, protect it and capture the landscape in fragments; until arriving, at the end of their work, to configure its formal limit. All of them, even the built ones, are trees in motion, which literally or symbolically narrate the course of time. The article attempts to rescue the importance of the tree and its precise configuration in each work, through the analysis of some projects. The way in which architects describe and draw this element in their texts and plans reveals their intention to rescue the beauty of everyday life and attend to the specific versus the generic; an interest that should be rescued in an increasingly globalized and impersonal world.Fernández Villalobos, N.; Jiménez Sanz, A. The impact of type 2 immunity and allergic diseases in atherosclerosis.

    Get PDF
Allergic diseases are allergen-induced immunological disorders characterized by the development of type 2 immunity and IgE responses. The prevalence of allergic diseases has been on the rise alike cardiovascular disease (CVD), which affects arteries of different organs such as the heart, the kidney and the brain. The underlying cause of CVD is often atherosclerosis, a disease distinguished by endothelial dysfunction, fibrofatty material accumulation in the intima of the artery wall, smooth muscle cell proliferation, and Th1 inflammation. The opposed T-cell identity of allergy and atherosclerosis implies an atheroprotective role for Th2 cells by counteracting Th1 responses. Yet, the clinical association between allergic disease and CVD argues against it. Within, we review different phases of allergic pathology, basic immunological mechanisms of atherosclerosis and the clinical association between allergic diseases (particularly asthma, atopic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis and food allergy) and CVD. Then, we discuss putative atherogenic mechanisms of type 2 immunity and allergic inflammation including acute allergic reactions (IgE, IgG1, mast cells, macrophages and allergic mediators such as vasoactive components, growth factors and those derived from the complement, contact and coagulation systems) and late phase inflammation (Th2 cells, eosinophils, type 2 innate-like lymphoid cells, alarmins, IL-4, IL-5, IL-9, IL-13 and IL-17).post-print4164 K

Characterising epithelial tissues using persistent entropy

    Get PDF
In this paper, we apply persistent entropy, a novel topological statis- tic, for characterization of images of epithelial tissues. We have found out that persistent entropy is able to summarize topological and geomet- ric information encoded by -complexes and persistent homology. After using some statistical tests, we can guarantee the existence of signi cant di erences in the studied tissues.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad MTM2015-67072-

Persistent entropy: a scale-invariant topological statistic for analyzing cell arrangements

    Get PDF
In this work, we develop a method for detecting differences in the topological distribution of cells forming epithelial tissues. In particular, we extract topological information from their images using persistent homology and a summary statistic called persistent entropy. This method is scale invariant, robust to noise and sensitive to global topological features of the tissue. We have found significant differences between chick neuroepithelium and epithelium of Drosophila wing discs in both, larva and prepupal stages. Besides, we have tested our method, with good results, with images of mathematical tesselations that model biological tissues
