Observation and study of baryonic B decays: B -> D(*) p pbar, D(*) p pbar pi, and D(*) p pbar pi pi
We present a study of ten B-meson decays to a D(*), a proton-antiproton pair,
and a system of up to two pions using BaBar's data set of 455x10^6 BBbar pairs.
Four of the modes (B0bar -> D0 p anti-p, B0bar -> D*0 p anti-p, B0bar -> D+ p
anti-p pi-, B0bar -> D*+ p anti-p pi-) are studied with improved statistics
compared to previous measurements; six of the modes (B- -> D0 p anti-p pi-, B-
-> D*0 p anti-p pi-, B0bar -> D0 p anti-p pi- pi+, B0bar -> D*0 p anti-p pi-
pi+, B- -> D+ p anti-p pi- pi-, B- -> D*+ p anti-p pi- pi-) are first
observations. The branching fractions for 3- and 5-body decays are suppressed
compared to 4-body decays. Kinematic distributions for 3-body decays show
non-overlapping threshold enhancements in m(p anti-p) and m(D(*)0 p) in the
Dalitz plots. For 4-body decays, m(p pi-) mass projections show a narrow peak
with mass and full width of (1497.4 +- 3.0 +- 0.9) MeV/c2, and (47 +- 12 +- 4)
MeV/c2, respectively, where the first (second) errors are statistical
(systematic). For 5-body decays, mass projections are similar to phase space
expectations. All results are preliminary.Comment: 28 pages, 90 postscript figures, submitted to LP0
Intergenerational representations of schistosomiasis in endemic area, Jaboticatubas, Minas Gerais
The analysis of the intergenerational process of disease/health representations constitutes a requisite for the construction of projects and health education interventions. The objective of this work is to describe the meaning attributed to schistosomiasis in the family context. Twenty-one residents of an endemic area were interviewed. The interviews were submitted to content analysis. The results demonstrated different representations of the disease by the children, parents and grandparents. This paper discusses the differences in these representations and its impact in schistosomiasis control programs

Trabalho e saúde: a atividade da queima de resÃduos tóxicos em fornos de cimenteiras de Cantagalo, Rio de Janeiro Work and health: the activity of burning toxic waste in cement kilns in Cantagalo, Rio de Janeiro State
This study analyzes the work and health conditions through the discourse of the employees involved in the activity of toxic waste co-processing in cement kilns in Cantagalo, RJ. A qualitative approach was adopted using a semi-structured interview with 13 individuals. After analyzing the discourse, it was possible to observe relevant failures in the work process planning, in the identification of risks, in preventing diseases, in monitoring health impacts and to the environment, even their identification and notification to the competent authorities. The assimilation of the uncertainties of the process, favoring the interests of the entrepreneurs, has passed on the workers the burden of illness, rendered acceptable in that they deny clinical evidences. It is imperative to establish a broad debate involving public and private entities, the society in all its representations, confronting ethical, environmental and health issues to the interests of capital in order to set new guidelines for the process
Observation of the Decay B^{-}→D_{s}^{(*)+}K^{-}ℓ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{ℓ}
We report the observation of the decay B(-) -> D(s)(()*()+)K(-)l(-)(nu) over bar (l) based on 342 fb(-1) of data collected at the Y(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e(+)e(-) storage rings at SLAC. A simultaneous fit to three D(s)(+) decay chains is performed to extract the signal yield from measurements of the squared missing mass in the B meson decay. We observe the decay B(-) -> D(s)(()*()+)K(-)l(-)(nu) over bar (l) with a significance greater than 5 standard deviations (including systematic uncertainties) and measure its branching fraction to be B(B(-) -> D(s)(()*())K(-)l(-)(nu) over bar (l) = [6.13(-1.03)(+1.04)(stat) +/- 0.43(syst) +/- 0.51 (B(D(s)))] X 10(-4), where the last error reflects the limited knowledge of the D(s) branching fractions

Observation of the Υ(1^{3}D_{J}) bottomonium state through decays to π^{+}π^{-}Υ(1S)
Based on 122×106Υ(3S) events collected with the BABAR detector, we have observed the Υ(13DJ) bottomonium state through the Υ(3S)→γγΥ(13DJ)→γγπ+π-Υ(1S) decay chain. The significance for the J=2 member of the Υ(13DJ) triplet is 5.8 standard deviations including systematic uncertainties. The mass of the J=2 state is determined to be 10 164.5±0.8(stat)±0.5(syst)  MeV/c2. We use the π+π- invariant mass distribution to confirm the consistency of the observed state with the orbital angular momentum assignment of the Υ(13DJ)

Measurement of the gamma gamma* -\u3e eta c transition form factor
none460siWe study the reaction e+e−→e+e−ηc, ηc→KSK±π∓ and obtain ηc mass and width values 2982.2±0.4±1.6  MeV/c2 and 31.7±1.2±0.8  MeV, respectively. We find Γ(ηc→γγ)ℬ(ηc→KK⎯⎯⎯π)=0.374±0.009±0.031  keV, and measure the γγ∗→ηc transition form factor in the momentum transfer range from 2 to 50  GeV2. The analysis is based on 469  fb−1 of integrated luminosity collected at PEP-II with the BABAR detector at e+e− center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV.noneLees, Jp; Poireau, V; Prencipe, E; Tisserand, V;
