Twisting Hopf algebras from cocycle deformations

    Get PDF
Let HH be a Hopf algebra. Any finite-dimensional lifting of VHHYDV\in {}^{H}_{H}\mathcal{YD} arising as a cocycle deformation of A=B(V)#HA=\mathfrak{B}(V)\#H defines a twist in the Hopf algebra AA^*, via dualization. We follow this recipe to write down explicit examples and show that it extends known techniques for defining twists. We also contribute with a detailed survey about twists in braided categories.Comment: 20 page

Educación Popular e Interculturalidad en Haití

Haiti‟s historical reality put us in a constant philosophical and anthropological debate, about our connections with others and how power relationships are organized, sometimes through a so- called humanitarian assistance, that many times have transformed itself in evidence of the process that‟s left in the fraternal logic of the human being. In Haiti, popular education, that create transforming proposal through a horizontality, it‟s almost mandatory, but especially, provocative. Same thing happens with intercultural relations, because it incites the one that comes from outside to let himself affected, transform his/her life, so this way he can transform a hole continent according the same settings he had thought to change.

Salvinialean megaspores in the Late Cretaceous of southern Patagonia, Argentina

We report here two megaspores species related to the aquatic ferns of the Order Salviniales from the Late Cretaceous Mata Amarilla Formation (Austral Basin), southern Santa Cruz Province, Argentina. They were assigned to the species Arcellites disciformis and Balmeisporites cf. B. holodictyus. The presence of A. disciformis, in particular, is significant not only because it represents the first record for the Southern Hemisphere, indicating a bi-hemispheric distribution for the species, but it also increases the diversity of this genus in Patagonia. The new record enlarge the importance of water ferns in the Late Cretaceous landscapes of southern South America by adding the presence of a new species. The common occurrences of Arcellites and Balmeisporites, whether in shallow, fresh or brackish water facies, support a local aquatic paleoenvironment for the Mata Amarilla Formation, as was also suggested by the sedimentological evidence. They also allow referring the lower and middle levels of the Mata Amarilla Formation to the Chronostratigraphic Zone M3 (Albian-Cenomanian) defined for the cretaceous of Patagonia on the bases of its megaspore content.Centro de Investigaciones Geológica

Hunter-gatherer foraging networks promote information transmission

Central-place foraging (CPF), where foragers return to a central location (or home), is a key feature of hunter–gatherer social organization. CPF could have significantly changed hunter–gatherers’ spatial use and mobility, altered social networks and increased opportunities for information-exchange. We evaluated whether CPF patterns facilitate information-transmission and considered the potential roles of environmental conditions, mobility strategies and population sizes. We built an agent-based model of CPF where agents moved according to a simple optimal foraging rule, and could encounter other agents as they moved across the environment. They either foraged close to their home within a given radius or moved the location of their home to new areas. We analysed the interaction networks arising under different conditions and found that, at intermediate levels of environmental heterogeneity and mobility, CPF increased global and local network efficiencies as well as the rate of contagion-based information-transmission. We also found that central-place mobility strategies can further improve information transmission in larger populations. Our findings suggest that the combination of foraging and movement strategies, as well as the environmental conditions that characterized early human societies, may have been a crucial precursor in our species’ unique capacity to innovate, accumulate and rely on complex culture

Direitas políticas, atores religiosos e projeto conservador no Uruguai: a agenda anti-gênero no centro

    Get PDF
Uruguay, like other countries in the region, experienced a conservative political regression after fifteen years of progressive governments, with a neoliberal government, which has promoted a pro-life strategy, and with an unprecedented presence of personalities linked to the military and religious arena. Anti-feminist movements and policies in Uruguay gained new impetus with the change of government in 2020, managing to promote discursive and legal changes. At the center of the discourse and proposals appears the strengthening of the traditional family, hegemonic masculinity and the limitation of rights related to sexual health. The article examines the implementation of the conservative project in Uruguay at two levels of action: in the promotion of legal regulations with anti-feminist content, and in the legitimization of anti-gender discourses on the one hand. On the other hand, the articulation of social, political and religious actors that occurs around this agenda is studied, at the national level and in its transnational articulation. Both levels of action are articulated in public policies that are promoted by the Executive Branch in key ministries such as public health and social development. The design and implementation of this action research project, carried out at Faculty of Arts and Humanities of University of Porto, arose from the interest of two teachers who share a subject of Spanish as a foreign language (ELE according to its acronym in Spanish) at a B2 level, to establish a closer and more evident connection between the cultural contents, particularly literary, and the linguistic contents throughout the course program. The purpose was to meet the specific training needs of its students in the university educational context, due to the direct relationship between foreign languages learning and literary and cultural studies, which is evident in the curricular structure of the bachelor's degrees in the faculties of Humanities of Portugal. Taking these premises as a starting point and based on the choice of Elvira Lindo's essay 30 maneras de quitarse el sombrero as an extensive reading for the Spanish B2.1 subject, we reflect on how to gradually introduce the figure of this writer and her work closer to students, with the objectives of contributing to a deep understanding of the book and the enjoyment of this reading, delving into socio-cultural aspects of contemporary Spain and better appreciating current Spanish literature thanks to its significant integration within the contents of the course
