Antecedents of the Intention and Behavior Toward Purchase of Counterfeit Luxury Goods in an Emerging Economy: a Study of Young Vietnamese Consumers

    Get PDF
This study examines some antecedents of the intention and behavior toward buying counterfeit luxury goods among young consumers in Vietnam, an Asian emerging economy. The data was obtained from university undergraduate students in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. The results of structural equation modeling show support for most of our hypotheses. The findings indicate that materialism (the centrality component) has positive impact on attitude toward purchase of counterfeit luxury goods. Attitude and subjective norm toward counterfeit luxury goods are found to be positively related to purchase intention, while perceived behavioral control is not found to have a direct impact on purchase intention. In addition, perceived behavioral control and purchase intention are found to be significant predictors of purchase behavior. The research findings are discussed and implications for managers and policy makers are provided. &nbsp

Management current land use of perennial industrial crops by NDVI index: A case study in Chu Se District, Gia Lai Province, Vietnam: Research article

Remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) - an effective tool for managing naturalresources, is quite common application in establishing thematic maps. However, the application of this modern technology in natural resource management has not yet been popular in Vietnam, particularly mapping the land use/cover. Currently, land use/cover map is constructed as traditional methods and gets limitations of management counting due to time-consuming for mapping andsynthesis the status of land use/cover. Hence, information on the map is often outdated and inaccurate. The main objective of this study is to upgrade the accuracies in mapping current perennialcrops in Chu Se District, Gia Lai Province in Vietnam by interpreted NDVI index (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) from Landsat 8-OLI (Operational Land Imager). The results of studyis satisfied the urgent of practical requirement and scientific research. There are 3 types of perennial industrial plants in the study area including rubber, coffee, and pepper, in which most coffee isgrown, with an area of over 10,000 hectares. The results also show that integration of remote sensing and GIS technology enables to map current management and distribution of perennial industrialplants timely and accurately. This application is fully consistent with the trend of the world, and in accordance with regulations of established land use/cover map, and the process could be appliedat other districts /towns or in higher administrative units.

A review on microalgae and cyanobacteria in biofuel production

    Get PDF
Today, fossil fuel shortages and climate change impacts have led mankind to the search for an alternative energy. With many advantages, bioenergy is a promising source to replace conventional energy. However, biofuel productions in the first and second generation are likely to add more concerns to the problems in water scarcity and threats to food security. Meanwhile, third generation biofuels obtained from microalgae and cyanobacteria are able to overcome existing challenges thanks to their rapid growth rates, abilities to fix CO 2 , high yields in lipid extraction and capabilities to be grown in non-arable lands. Microalgae and cyanobacteria appear to be the only ones among renewable sources that are capable of producing a wide range of biofuels including biohydrogen, biomethane, bioethanol and biodiesel. In this study, we present an overview about microalgae and cyanobacteria use for the production of biofuels in fundamentals, including their biology, cultivation systems taking into account the hydrodynamic conditions, harvesting, and processing. The review also provides a general picture at the current status of this renewable energy industry

Asymptotic integration of linear differential-algebraic equations

Abstract. This paper is concerned with the asymptotic behavior of solutions of lin-ear differential-algebraic equations with asymptotically constant coefficients. Some re-sults of asymptotic integration which are well known for ordinary differential equations (ODEs) are extended to differential-algebraic equations (DAEs)

Symmetry Reduction and Compositional Verification on Timed Automata

This thesis is about techniques for the analysis of concurrent and real-time systems. As the first contribution, we describe a technique that incorporates automatic symmetry detection and symmetry reduction in the analysis of systems modeled by timed automata. First, our approach detects structural symmetries arising from process templates of realtime systems, requiring no additional input from the user. Then, the technique involves finding all variables of type process identifier and computing a set of generators that forms a group of automorphisms. Our technique is fully automatic, and not restricted to fully symmetric systems. The second contribution of this thesis is that we combine elements of compositional proof, abstraction and local symmetry to decide whether a safety property holds for every process instance in a parameterized family of real-time process networks. Analysis is performed on a small cut-off network; that is, a small instance whose compositional proof generalizes to the entire parametric family. Our results show that verification is decidable in time polynomial in the state space of the “cut-off” instance. Then we apply these ideas to analyze Fischer’s protocol, CSMA/CD protocol and Train-Bridge protocol
