No unbounded arbitrage, weak no market arbitrage and no arbitrage price system conditions: The circular results.

Page and Wooders (1996) prove that the no-unbounded-arbitrage (NUBA) condition introduced by Page (1987) is equivalent to the existence of a no arbitrage price (NAPS) when no agent has non-null useless vectors. Al- louch, Le Van and Page (2002) show that their generalized NAPS condition is actually equivalent to the weak-no-market-arbitrage (WNMA) condition introduced by Hart (1974). They mention that this result implies the one given by Page andWooders (1996). In this note, we show that these results are actually circular.Arbitrage, Equilibrium, Recession cone.

Nonlinear Control of an Active Magnetic Bearing with Output Constraint

    Get PDF
In this paper, an appropriate control strategy is proposed to handle the nonlinear dynamics ofan active magnetic bearing (AMB). The goal of the control design is to drive the AMB rotor to the origin with improved transient response. In order to achieve this task, back stepping control technique with a barrier Lyapunov function are employed to keep the tracking error trajectory inside a predefined zone to avoid possible mechanical contact between rotor and stator. Besides, a speed observer is also used since information about rotor speed is not always available. The stability of the closed-loop system is proven. The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is verified by numerical simulations

Influence of Annealing Conditions on Structure and Critical Parameters of Ni50Mn37Sn13 Magnetocaloric Material

In this paper, we present the influence of annealing conditions on structure and magnetic behavior of Ni50_{50}Mn37_{37}Sn13_{13} magnetocaloric alloy prepared by arc-melting technique. The results show that the almost single phase of the full Heusler structure of Ni2_{2}MnSn could be achieved by appropriate annealing. The transformation between martensite and austenite phases, and multi-magnetic phase behavior are observed more clearly with higher fraction of Ni2_{2}MnSn phase. By using Arrott-Noaks method, critical parameters were determined to be β 0.464± 0.021\beta   0.464 \pm  0.021, γ =1.117± 0.073\gamma  = 1.117 \pm  0.073 and δ =3.41\delta  = 3.41, which lay between mean-field model (β =0.5\beta  = 0.5 and γ=1\gamma = 1, δ =3\delta  = 3) with long-range ferromagnetic orders and 3D Heisenberg model (β =0.365\beta  = 0.365, γ=1.336\gamma = 1.336, δg=4.66\delta {\rm g}= 4.66) with short-range ferromagnetic orders. The calculated results are in good accordance with the experimentally observed coexistence of weak-ferromagnetic martensite and strong-ferromagnetic austenite phases

Magnetic Properties and Giant Magnetocaloric Effect In Mn-based Heusler Compounds

    Get PDF
Magnetic properties and giant magnetocaloric effect (GMCE) of Mn-based Heusler compounds such as Co-Mn-Si, Ni-Mn-Sn, Ni-Mn-Sb have been investigated. The results show that the structure strongly influences on magnetic properties and GMCE of these alloys. The coexistence of ferromagnetic (FM) and antiferromagnetic (AFM) orders is observed. The magnetic phase transitions can be controlled by changing composition and annealing condition of the alloys. GMCEs with large magnitude and wide working temperature range have been obtained on these alloys showing their application potential for magnetic refrigeration technology

Literature Review: The traditional approach to teaching English in Vietnamese medical schools prioritises grammar over communication skills, the effectiveness of which is increasingly under consideration. The objective of this study was to assess undergraduate medical students' satisfaction and needs with their current English training in order to evaluate the appropriateness of a training program based on CEFR. Methods: In a crosssectional survey utilizing a self-reported structured questionnaire, a sample of 487 students was selected from the students of Hanoi Medical University. Results: Forty-two percent of students reported they were not satisfied with the existing English curriculum with 77.2% and 55.4% of students identifying a disproportionate focus on medical terminology and grammar respectively, rather than on listening and communication skills. Most (83%) preferred a CEFR-based English program with extra course focusing on medical disciplines in active manners (pair work, group work, role play). All undergraduate student groups preferred CEFR-based training (ranging from 77.92% among general medical doctors up to 94.44% among bachelor of public health). The perceived need for English language skills was high with almost 60% of students wanting English courses focusing on the communication skills of reading, listening, speaking and writing. Conclusions: The results of this study highlight the need for a review and revision of the English language curriculum as taught within Vietnamese Medical Schools with an emphasis on the design of new teaching materials that meet the needs of both medical students and society. The curriculum should prioritize the communication skills of reading, listening, speaking and writing. It should cover topics related to medicine such as human anatomy, surgery and medical advances and offer learners a wide range of exercises including true/false, matching, multiple choice and gap-filling questions

Arbitrage and asset market equilibrium in infinite dimensional economies with risk-averse expected utilities

We consider a model with an infinite numbers of states of nature, von Neumann - Morgenstern utilities and where agents have different prob- ability beliefs. We show that no-arbitrage conditions, defined for finite dimensional asset markets models, are not sufficient to ensure existence of equilibrium in presence of an infinite number of states of nature. How- ever, if the individually rational utility set U is compact, we obtain an equilibrium. We give conditions which imply the compactness of U. We give examples of non-existence of equilibrium when these conditions do not hold

Multiple Visual-Semantic Embedding for Video Retrieval from Query Sentence

Visual-semantic embedding aims to learn a joint embedding space where related video and sentence instances are located close to each other. Most existing methods put instances in a single embedding space. However, they struggle to embed instances due to the difficulty of matching visual dynamics in videos to textual features in sentences. A single space is not enough to accommodate various videos and sentences. In this paper, we propose a novel framework that maps instances into multiple individual embedding spaces so that we can capture multiple relationships between instances, leading to compelling video retrieval. We propose to produce a final similarity between instances by fusing similarities measured in each embedding space using a weighted sum strategy. We determine the weights according to a sentence. Therefore, we can flexibly emphasize an embedding space. We conducted sentence-to-video retrieval experiments on a benchmark dataset. The proposed method achieved superior performance, and the results are competitive to state-of-the-art methods. These experimental results demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed multiple embedding approach compared to existing methods.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figure
