Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is a plant that is not resistant to the salt stress, but the development of agriculture in coastal areas requires the analysis of rice genotypes that are resistant to the salt stress. The salt stress may cause chromosomal abnormality, such as sticky chromosome. This study was aimed to analyze the influence of the salt stress on the formation of chromosomes in four rice genotypes originating from Bantan Air village, Bengkalis. This research was conducted using randomized block design (RBD) with two factors, i.e. NaCl concentrations (0 mM, 60 mM, 75 mM, and 90 mM) and the rice genotypes (IR64, Indragiri, Solok, Sadani, Yamin, and Amat Candu) with three replications for each treatment. Normal anaphase chromosomes were visible in control, whereas sticky chromosomes were seen in 90 mM salt exposure. It concluded that salt stress may cause sticky chromosomes

Time-budget of horses reared for meat production: Influence of stocking density on behavioural activities and subsequent welfare

Horses reared for meat production can be kept in intensive breeding farms where they are housed in group pens at high stocking densities. The present study aimed to evaluate whether the expressed behaviours correlated with stocking density, and to compare their time-budget with that of wild-living horses. An ethogram of 13 mutually exclusive behavioural activities was developed. Behavioural observations were performed over a 72 h period on group pens selected on the basis of stocking density and the homogeneity of breed, age, height at the withers, and time since arriving at the farm. Scan sampling (n = 96 scans/horse/day) was used on 22 horses. The mean frequency (%) standard deviation (SD) for each behavioural activity was calculated to obtain the time-budget. The associations between time-budget and stocking density were evaluated using a bivariate analysis. The relationships were analysed by Pearson’s correlation coecient (r). Our results show that locomotion, playing, and self-grooming positively correlated with a reduction in stocking density, indicating the potential to use these behaviours as positive welfare indicators for young horses kept in group pens. The data also revealed an unusual time-budget, where the main behavioural activity expressed was standing (30.56% 6.56%), followed by feeding (30.55% 3.59%), lying (27.33% 2.05%), and locomotion (4.07% 1.06%)

O formato ?shape? ou SHP representa um conjunto de arquivos digitais frequentemente usado para elaboração de mapas temáticos utilizando sistemas de informações geográficas, para representação de informações como localização geográfica, tipo de feição vetorial (ponto, linha, polígono) e atributos associados. SQL (Structured Query Language ou Linguagem de Consulta Estruturada) é a linguagem de pesquisa declarativa padrão para banco de dados relacional. A organização de informações em Sistemas Gerencias de Banco de Dados (SGBD) oferece inúmeros benefícios, mas, em alguns casos, transformar a informação para a entrada no SGBD é um desafio. Small Molecule Enhancers of Endosome-to-Cytosol Import Augment Anti-tumor Immunity

Cross-presentation of antigens by dendritic cells (DCs) is critical for initiation of anti-tumor immune responses. Yet, key steps involved in trafficking of antigens taken up by DCs remain incompletely understood. Here, we screen 700 US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved drugs and identify 37 enhancers of antigen import from endolysosomes into the cytosol. To reveal their mechanism of action, we generate proteomic organellar maps of control and drug-treated DCs (focusing on two compounds, prazosin and tamoxifen). By combining organellar mapping, quantitative proteomics, and microscopy, we conclude that import enhancers undergo lysosomal trapping leading to membrane permeation and antigen release. Enhancing antigen import facilitates cross-presentation of soluble and cell-associated antigens. Systemic administration of prazosin leads to reduced growth of MC38 tumors and to a synergistic effect with checkpoint immunotherapy in a melanoma model. Thus, inefficient antigen import into the cytosol limits antigen cross-presentation, restraining the potency of anti-tumor immune responses and efficacy of checkpoint blockers
