Using Sociodrama in EFL Speaking Class
This paper address the improvement of students' speaking skill through sociodrama method for higher education students. In Indonesia, English is studied as a foreign language from elementary school up to university degree. But, generally speaking, Indonesians' English competency is nothing up to intermediate level. This concern led to action research which uses design Kemmis and Mc. Taggart model and is applied in four steps; they are planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. It illustrates the way in which the result of teaching learning in every cycle. The study examines in detail how students develop their speaking skills when engaging in play. The instruments to collect information were students' test, students' interviews, observation sheets and field notes. The study examines in detail how students develop their speaking activity when engaging in play in every cycle. In cycle 1, students' participation is they establish communication with acceptance criteria, while in cycle 2 and 3 they grow their communication well after the researcher gives additional treatment about the sociodrama-base speaking task. The findings revealed that doing speaking task based on sociodrama were the most frequent activities done by students to develop and practice speaking in the classroom with the additional task in the form of homework and it improved every cycle. This research indicated that the implementation of sociodrama task-based helped the students practice speaking skills a lot and improved their speaking skills on aspects of pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, fluency, and comprehension
Yield and Quality in Purple-Grained Wheat Isogenic Lines
Breeding programs for purple wheat are underway in many countries but there is a lack of information on the effects of Pp (purple pericarp) genes on agronomic and quality traits in variable environments and along the product chain (grain-flour-bread). This study was based on unique material: two pairs of isogenic lines in a spring wheat cv. Saratovskaya-29 (S29) background differing only in Pp genes and grain color. In 2017, seven experiments were conducted in Kazakhstan, Russia, and Turkey with a focus on genotype and environment interaction and, in 2018, one experiment in Turkey with a focus on grain, flour, and bread quality. The eect of environment was greater compared to genotype for the productivity and quality traits studied. Nevertheless, several important traits, such as grain color and anthocyanin content, are closely controlled by genotype, offering the opportunity for selection. Phenolic content in purple-grained lines was not significantly higher in whole wheat flour than in red-colored lines. However, this trait was significantly higher in bread. For antioxidant activities, no differences between the genotypes were detected in both experiments. Comparison of two sources of Pp genes demonstrated that the lines originating from cv. Purple Feed had substantially improved productivity and quality traits compared to those from cv. Purple

The main function of the game is limited to entertainment venues. But actually in the field, it is often used as a means of gambling by managers / entrepreneurs. The violation collided regulations and with the laws, one of which is the Criminal Code (KUHP).The Criminal Code regulates, distinguishes criminal sanctions from managers / entrepreneurs and gambling players. Based on this, legal uncertainty arises which violates the principle of legal certainty in Indonesia when the decision is not in accordance with the Laws and Regulations, the government should only be guided by the written legislation, because the government (Judge) is only a mouthpiece of the Act
Verbal Humor in American Situational Comedy the Office: Semantics View
The semantic analysis attempts to define and completely comprehend the word’s meaning. The purpose of this study was to delve into the types of lexical relations in verbal humor and investigate the humor styles of the American sitcom The Office. This study used a qualitative design to collect data on verbal humor. The findings revealed that The Office frequently uses homonym, polysemy, hyponym, antonym and synonym in the construction of humor and potentially creates a humorous effect. Additionally, the humor style of the sitcom is sarcastic humor. It can be concluded that linguistically the use of homonym, polysemy, hyponym, antonym and synonym in the punchline provides an amusing effect and generates a comical situation. On the other hand, it also creates an ambiguity effect which results in a double interpretation of certain jokes due to the multiple meanings of a single word
STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION ON GOOGLE MEET VIDEO CONFERENCING PLATFORM DURING ENGLISH SPEAKING CLASS IN PANDEMIC ERA
The aim of the research was to investigate students’ perception while teaching learning process in 16 meeting by having google meet video conferencing. Method of the research used qualitative research by focusing at descriptive analysis to explore students’ perception in English speaking class as it was followed by 13 English students at the second semester of English study program of STKIP Setia Budhi Rangkasbitung who join speaking lesson. Instruments used were observation, questionnaire, and interview. The results of the research about students’ perception emphasized on interaction, teaching learning process, psychological aspects, and speaking skills. The researcher found that interaction showed that there were three patterns of interaction, they were interaction lecturer-students, students-lecturer, and students-students interaction. The three interactions happened well since the number of them was 100% and all students were involved in speaking activity. Teaching learning process was done as usual like in a real classroom such as pre-activity, main activity, and post-activity. In the form of psychological aspects, students were happy, secure, confident, and brave. Data showed 100%, it meant that they did not have any barriers during English speaking class with google meet video conference. Speaking skills in the form of pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, fluency, and comprehension. Students kept having their right to learn about those aspects supported by the teacher in google meet. When students did some mistakes, lecturer explained directly in general at the end of class and this way was very helpful for students in learning speaking. From these findings, the conclusion was the usage of google meet video conferencing in the speaking class showed positive respond that students’ perception on google meet showed mostly perceive the advantages rather than disadvantages of google meet video conferencing provided
THE DEVELOPMENT OF LEARNING DEVICE BASED CONTEXTUAL TEACHING LEARNING (CTL) ASSISTED AUTOGRAPH TO IMPROVE THE ABILITY OF PROBLEM SOLVING MATHEMATICS CLASS X SMA NEGERI 1 TELUKDALAM
This research study aims to describe: 1) Validity learning devices CTL based with autograph aid; 2) practicality learning devices CTL with autograph aid; 3) effectiveness learning devices CTL with autograph aid; 4) increase problem solving skills by problem based learning model developed. This research is a research development (research and development). The development of CTL based learning used 4-D model which include define, design, develop, and disseminate. The results of the defining phase is used to design a learning instruments. Then this draft is validated and teste in classroom to see its practically and effectiveness. The tes is done in class X SMA Negeri 1 Telukdalam. This research used students in class XIA1 and XIA2. From this development obtained that; (1) learning instruments developed is valid criteria with the average validity total of lesson plan = 4.506, Student’s Book = 4.687, worksheet = 4.412. Test problem-solving abilities in valid categories with reliability of 0.87; 2) Learning intruments satisfy practice criteria based on (a) assessment of teachers' ability to implement excellent category learning; (b) assessment of students' ability to follow excellent category learning; 3) learning instruments is effective based on the results of student’s mathematical problem-solving skills tests meet the classical completeness, the achievement of the ideal percentage of time, and the results of questionnaire responses of students, 4) the increasing of problem solving skills of student’s from first to second test was 0.37 points with the classical learning completeness increase by 37,5%. An Analysis of English Video of @carolinakowanz on TikTok
In the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0, leveraging technology for language learning, particularly English, has become increasingly vital. Social media, with its wide reach and accessibility, presents a promising avenue for enhancing English language skills. TikTok, a popular social media platform, has emerged as a significant resource for English language learning, particularly among Generation Z. This study delves into the content analysis of English videos on TikTok, focusing on the educational impact of @carolinakowanz's account. The research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of aspect of speaking and their combined impact on user engagement and understanding, especially among Generation Z learners. The study addresses the identified issues such as the prevalence of non-educational content on TikTok, the platform's commercialization, and user boredom in learning. By analyzing @carolinakowanz's content, this research seeks to contribute to the understanding of how TikTok can serve as an effective tool for English language education. Theoretical and practical implications of the study are discussed, emphasizing the role of social media in facilitating language learning, understanding Generation Z preferences in digital education, and providing accessible learning opportunities
CARA PENCEGAHAN PENYEBARAN COVID-19
ABSTRAKSaat ini dunia sedang mengalami pandemi yang disebabkan oleh virus covid-19, virus ini sangatlah berbahaya dan sudah memakan banyak korban meninggal dunia, hingga saat ini data terakhir pada tanggal 9 Februari 2020 tercatat sudah terjadi sebanyak 106 juta kasus, dengan jumlah korban meninggal dunia sebanyak 2,32 juta. Covid-19 dapat menyebar dengan sangat cepat karena dapat ditransmisikan dengan mudah, yaitu melalui droplet (percikan air liur) yang dihasilkan saat orang yang terinfeksi batuk, bersin, atau mengembuskan nafas. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan langkah-langkah pencegahan untuk meminimalisir jumlah korban positif hingga meninggal dunia. Untuk mengetahui Langkah pencegahan yang efektif dilakukan observasi pengumpulan data dari pihak-pihak yang ahli dalam bidangnya. The Phenomenon of “Literally” Slang Term on Twitter: Semantics View
This study focused on using “literally” slang terms on Twitter which aims to find out what the meaning of language variations. This research uses a qualitative approach, with a descriptive analysis method. The way to collect the data is the statements taken from Twitter as media used by people. this study showed that the use of literally word that happened nowadays had many purposes and meaning conveyed by the person. The finding of the research are the people use literally term to emphasize, surprised and the meaning is real not figurative on what she/he stated on their Twitter account. The conclusion is the use of slang must be in accordance with the context when, where, with whom to speak because not all slang terms are used in all situations. The use of slang can be used among teenagers, among colleagues, in casual or informal situations. Users of slang terms must be smart in placing the words because if they do not know how to place the words, they will be considered as an impolite or arrogant person by others. KORELASI ANTARA MOTIVASI BELAJAR DAN PENCAPAIAN AKADEMIK SISWA DI SMP NEGERI 1 DELITUA
Perubahan energi yang terjadi pada diri seseorang, yang ditandai dengan "perasaan" dan didahului dengan tanggapan terhadap tujuan, dikenal sebagai motivasi. Motivasi dapat memainkan peran penting dalam setiap hal, termasuk belajar. Tidak ada kegiatan yang nyata jika tidak ada motivasi. Prestasi adalah bukti keberhasilan. Prestasi belajar adalah hasil terbaik setelah melakukan upaya belajar. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendorong keinginan dan keinginan para siswa untuk meningkatkan prestasi belajar mereka sehingga tujuan pendidikan yang diharapkan dapat dicapai dan dimasukkan ke dalam kurikulum sekolah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan korelasi; maksudnya adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada hubungan antara variabel indenpenden dan variabel dependen. dengan sampel 63 orang yang dipilih oleh peneliti sendiri. Hasil penelitian motivasi belajar menunjukkan bahwa rxy = 0,135; P = (-145) (< 0,05), yang menunjukkan bahwa prestasi belajar siswa lebih baik. Ada juga hasil korelasi antara motivasi belajar dan prestasi siswa di SMP Negeri 1 Delitua, dengan angka 0,470 (p < 0,05), yang menunjukkan bahwa hubungan kedua variabel tersebut signifikan
