Development of High Granulated Straw Chambers of Large Sizes
We have developed the baseline design for the straw drift tube tracking
detectors for high rate environment application. The low-mass inner straw
elements and the technology of the multianode straws assembly was devised and
checked. The prototype chamber was constructed and studied the granularity of
similar chambers can be reduced to one cm2.

Hyptiogastrites electrinus Cockerell, 1917, from Myanmar (Burmese) amber: Redescription and its placement within the Evanioidea (Insecta: Hymenoptera)
© The Natural History MuseumThe wasp Hyptiogastrites electrinus Cockerell, 1917, from the Lower Cretaceous (Upper Albian) Myanmar (Burmese) amber is redescribed from the well-preserved holotype and its relationship with extant Aulacidae and Gasteruptiidae (Hymenoptera: Evanioidea) evaluated. Although the wing venation is identical to the majority of extant Hyptiogastrinae (Gasteruptiidae), phylogenetic analysis places H. electrinus as sister taxon to the Aulacidae s.str., (i.e. Aulacus + Pristaulacus). Thus, Hyptiogastrinae is confirmed as having a restricted Southern Hemisphere distribution (i.e. Australasia and South America). Consistent with this result, H. electrinus is included within a slightly more broadly defined Aulacidae rather than being placed in a new monotypic family. Characters that align this species with the Aulacidae include: having small circular eyes, percurrent Y-shaped notauli, pyramidal shape of the propodeum and the presence of a groove or ovipositor guide on the hind coxae.John T. First measurement of the Gerasimov-Drell-Hearn integral for Hydrogen from 200 to 800 MeV
A direct measurement of the helicity dependence of the total photoabsorption
cross section on the proton was carried out at MAMI (Mainz) in the energy range
200 < E_gamma < 800 MeV. The experiment used a 4 detection system, a
circularly polarized tagged photon beam and a frozen spin target.
The contributions to the Gerasimov-Drell-Hearn sum rule and to the forward
spin polarizability determined from the data are 226 \pm 5 (stat)\pm
12(sys) \mu b and -187 \pm 8 (stat)\pm 10(sys)10^{-6} fm^4, respectively, for
200 < E_\gamma < 800 MeV.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures, 3 table
The helicity amplitudes A and A for the D resonance obtained from the reaction}
The helicity dependence of the reaction
has been measured for the first time in the photon energy range from 550 to 790
MeV. The experiment, performed at the Mainz microtron MAMI, used a
4-detector system, a circularly polarized, tagged photon beam, and a
longitudinally polarized frozen-spin target. These data are predominantly
sensitive to the resonance and are used to determine its
parameters.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
Deep sub-threshold production in Ar+KCl reactions at 1.76A GeV
We report first results on a deep sub-threshold production of the doubly
strange hyperon in a heavy-ion reaction. At a beam energy of 1.76A GeV
the reaction Ar+KCl was studied with the High Acceptance Di-Electron
Spectrometer (HADES) at SIS18/GSI. A high-statistics and high-purity
sample was collected, allowing for the investigation of the decay channel
. The deduced production
ratio of is significantly larger
than available model predictions.Comment: 4 pages, including 4 figure
Measurements of Transverse Energy Flow in Deep-Inelastic Scattering at HERA
Measurements of transverse energy flow are presented for neutral current
deep-inelastic scattering events produced in positron-proton collisions at
HERA. The kinematic range covers squared momentum transfers Q^2 from 3.2 to
2,200 GeV^2, the Bjorken scaling variable x from 8.10^{-5} to 0.11 and the
hadronic mass W from 66 to 233 GeV. The transverse energy flow is measured in
the hadronic centre of mass frame and is studied as a function of Q^2, x, W and
pseudorapidity. A comparison is made with QCD based models. The behaviour of
the mean transverse energy in the central pseudorapidity region and an interval
corresponding to the photon fragmentation region are analysed as a function of
Q^2 and W.Comment: 26 pages, 8 figures, submitted to Eur. Phys.
Inclusive Dielectron Production in Ar+KCl Collisions at 1.76 AGeV studied with HADES
Results of the HADES measurement of inclusive dielectron production in Ar+KCl
collisions at a kinetic beam energy of 1.76 AGeV are presented. For the first
time, high mass resolution spectroscopy was performed. The invariant mass
spectrum of dielectrons is compared with predictions of UrQMD and HSD transport
codes.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures - To appear in the conference proceedings for

Dilepton production in pp and CC collisions with HADES
Dilepton production has been measured with HADES, the "High Acceptance
DiElectron Spectrometer". In pp collisions at 2.2GeV kinetic beam energy,
exclusive eta production and the Dalitz decay eta -> gamma e+e- has been
reconstructed. The electromagnetic form factor is well in agreement with
existing data. In addition, an inclusive e+e- spectrum from the C+C reaction at
2AGeV is presented and compared with a thermal model.Comment: 11 pages, 3 figures, proceedings of the IVth International Conference
