    Effect of Hydrocyclone Inlet Device (HID) in Three Phase Gravity Separator for Oil-Water Separation Improvement

    As the oil production field reaches its mature phase and the surface processing facilities reaches its maximum capacity, more water is produced together with the reservoir fluid. The management and control of water production have become a vital activity in order to enhance the quality of crude oil processing in meeting customer satisfaction. The option that is currently adopted in the oil and gas industry is the introduction of Hydrocyclone Inlet Device (HID) in a gravity separator. This new design takes advantage of both the centrifugal force of HID and gravity torce of a gravity separator. The main advantage of this HID is the reduction in foaming of the inlet flow of the gravity separator. isy applying HiĂź at One inlet or gravity separator, the rejuvenation of new separator vessel is not required since it is more economical to replace the current inlet with cyclone inlet. The HID helps to increase separation capacity without additional vessel and major modification to the existing facilities. However, for the application of HID in high water cut from oil production field, the mixture of oil and water is of difficult oil-water emulsion pattern. This complex emulsion pattern is caused by the changes in oil-water composition and also different sizes of oil droplets due to the choke variations. The retention time taken by the droplets to coalescence during gravity settling process is affected and this causes the reduction in the efficiency of separator in oil-water separation. Apart from that, this oil and water mixture exhibits different properties at certain operating parameters such as at high temperature, flowrate and oil-water proportion. Therefore, the interest of this project is to investigate the effect of HID in gravity separator at certain parameters. An experimental approach for oil and water separation with constructed prototype using waste crude oil at different operating temperature, flowrate and oil-water proportion is performed in this project to improve the oil-water separation. Results obtained from the experiment shows that the HID performs better at high operating temperature and high incoming fluid flowrate. However, at high water cut, the performance of HID is lesser compared to typical plate diverter, since the swirling action exerted by HID causes more complex reverse water-in-oil emulsion

    Efektivitas Gracillaria gigas Sebagai Biofilter Logam Berat Timbal (Pb) pada Media Tanam

    Limbah industri, pertanian, dan rumah tangga yang mengandung logam Pb dan dibuang ke perairan tanpa melalui proses pengolahan akan mengakibatkan terjadinya peningkatan konsentrasi logam berat. Untuk itu diperlukan upaya meminimalkan kadar logam Pb dalam perairan, di antaranya dengan memanfaatkan Gracillaria gigas sebagai biofilter. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh konsentrasi dan waktu pemaparan serta pengaruh interaksi antara konsentrasi dengan waktu pemaparan terhadap daya serap Pb oleh G. gigas. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan dua faktor perlakuan, yaitu konsentrasi dan waktu pemaparan. Faktor perlakuan konsentrasi yaitu, 0 ppm; 0,03 ppm; 0,06 ppm; dan 0,09 ppm. Faktor waktu pemaparan yaitu, 7 hari, 14 hari, dan 21 hari. Parameter yang diamati meliputi kadar Pb pada G. gigas, pada media tanam, serta berat basah G. gigas. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan Anava 2 arah dan dilanjut dengan uji Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi dan waktu pemaparan serta interaksi antara konsentrasi dengan waktu pemaparan berpengaruh terhadap daya serap G. gigas terhadap logam Pb pada media tanam. Kadar logam Pb pada G. gigas tertinggi terjadi pada perlakuan penambahan konsentrasi 0,09 ppm dengan waktu pemaparan 21 hari yaitu sebesar 0,337 ppm. Dengan demikian G. gigas efektif digunakan sebagai biofilter logam berat timbal (Pb) pada media tanam.   Kata kunci: logam berat; timbal (Pb); Gracillaria gigas; biofilte

    An Analysis on The Students’ Problems in Translating English Compound Words into Indonesian (A Study at the third-grade of SMAN 3 Banda Aceh)

    The purpose of this study was to find out the students’ problems in translating English compound words into Indonesian. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach by using a test to obtain the data. The participants of this study were 20 students of third-grade in SMA Negeri 3 Banda Aceh. The class was taken in purposively. The result of this research showed the problems encountered by students in translating English compound word into Indonesian were that they had difficulties in modulating lexical elements of the words relevant to the context. They also had difficulties in making adjustments of their translation relevant to the context and had difficulties in identifying the words. In conclusion, to overcome the difficulties in the translation process, students use a strategy, students tend to use word-to-word in doing the translation process

    Factor that influence purchase intention of counterfeit product among university students in Kedah / Nur Nasuha Idris

    The study aims to investigate the factor that influence purchase intention of university students in Kedah towards counterfeit products. A conceptual model is proposed by Phau et al, 2009. A survey of 150 respondents was conducted in the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). Pearson correlation, multiple regression test were used to test the hypotheses postulated and research question. It is discovered that price, subjective norm, personal gratification, product preference and perceived risk are the independent variables that strongly influence consumers' attitude towards counterfeit product. By having a better understanding of the consumers' behavioral intentions of buying counterfeit products, the manufacturers and marketers of the genuine brand products can make better marketing strategies to entice the consumer to buy the original product and not the counterfeit version. Theoretical contribution of this study is an extension of knowledge of consumers' attitude with regards to counterfeit products

    The purpose of this study is to discover differentiation financialperformance of five sharia banks in Indonesia (BNI Syariah, BRI Syariah, BJB Syariah, Bank Syariah Bukopin, and Bank Victoria Syariah) one year before spin-off activity and one year after spin-off activity. The method used in this research is Wilcoxon Match Pairs Test with nine variables, which are asset, financing, third party funds, net incomes, dan five ratios: CAR, NPF, FDR, ROA, and ROE. The result of this study are, four variables indicate that there are differences in financial performance.     Berdasarkan pengamatan di lapangan pada prakteknya pembuatan surat keterangan ahli waris masih menggunakan penggolongan penduduk sesuai dengan Surat Edaran Departemen Dalam Negeri Direktorat Jenderal Agraria tanggal 20 Desember 1969 Nomor Dpt/12/63/12/69, yang digunakan untuk pendaftaran tanah bagi golongan penduduk asli atau pribumi disahkan oleh Lurah, Tiongha oleh notaris dan Keturunan Asia lainnya oleh Balai Harta Peninggalan padahal penggolongan penduduk atau diskriminasi ini sudah dihapuskan sesuai dengan Pasal 27 (ayat 1) dan Pasal 28D ayat (1) Undang-Undang Dasar Negara Republik Indonesia Tahun 1945 serta Undang-Undang Nomor 40 Tahun 2008 Tentang Penghapusan Diskriminasi Ras dan Etnik. Tetapi pada prakteknya masih banyak masyarakat menggunakan surat keterangan ahli waris yang disahkan oleh Lurah bagi pribumi untuk pendaftaran tanah serta untuk kepentingan lainnya seperti perbankan ataupun asuransi dengan bentuk surat yang bermacam-macam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui mengenai prosedur pengesahan surat keterangan ahli waris oleh Lurah, bentuk atau format surat keterangan waris serta kedudukan surat keterangan ahli waris yang disahkan oleh Lurah. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan yuridis emperis peneliti memperoleh data dari bahan-bahan hukum dan wawancara, data dianalisis secara kualitatif. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa proses pembuatan surat keterangan ahli waris yang disahkan oleh Lurah dan dikuatkan Camat hanya denga melampirkan surat keterangan kematian pewaris, kartu tanda penduduk ahli waris, kartu tanda penduduk para saksi ,dan surat pernyataan ahli waris, kemudian surat keterangan ahli waris ini bentuk surat yang digunakan bervariasi serta kedudukan suratnya masih sebagai surat di bawah tangan.     Comparative study on structural, electrical transport and magnetic properties of cr-doped in charge-ordered Pr0.75Na0.25Mn1-Xcrxo3 and Nd0.75Na0.25Mn1-Ycryo3 manganites

    Cr doping in charge-ordered Pr0.75Na0.25Mn1-xCrxO3 and Nd0.75Na0.25Mn1-yCryO3 have been synthesized using conventional solid-state method to investigate its effect on structural, electrical transport and magnetic properties. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis for both compounds showed that the samples were crystallized in an orthorhombic structure with Pnma group. The unit cell volume value decrease as the Cr-doped increased indicating the possibility of Mn3+ ion was replaced by Cr3+ due to the different of ionic radius. The temperature dependence of electrical resistivity showed an insulating behavior down to the lower temperature the both parent compound (x = 0 and y = 0). Successive substitution of Cr at Mn-site in Pr0.75Na0.25Mn1-xCrxO3 manganites induced the metal-insulator (MI) transition temperature around TMI~120 K and TMI~122 K for x = 0.02 and x = 0.04 samples respectively suggestively due to the enhancement of double-exchange (DE) mechanism as a result of suppress the CO state. Analysis of resistivity data of dlnρ/dT-1 vs. T in Nd0.75Na0.25Mn1-yCryO3 manganite, showed a peak around 210 K and 160 K for y = 0 and 0.02 samples respectively while no peak was observed for y = 0.05 sample indicate the charge-ordered (CO) weakened. AC susceptibility, χ ’ measurements in Pr0.75Na0.25Mn1-xCrxO3 exhibits paramagnetic to ferromagnetic-like with curie temperature, TC increases from 132 K for x = 0.02 to 141 K for x = 0.04 with Cr content indicate the suppression of CO state meanwhile in Nd0.75Na0.25Mn1-yCryO3 showed paramagnetic to anti-ferromagnetic transition as Neel temperature TN increases from 115 K for y = 0.02 to 125 K for y = 0.05

    Effects of Mix Composition on Microwave Incinerated Rice Husk Ash (MIRHA) Mortar

    There are many cement replacement materials (CRM) have been commercialized in the industry. Microwave Incinerated Rice Husk Ash (MIRRA) is a new material that can be used as CRM in the industry. The used of MIRRA in concrete has been extremely studied in Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). The study on use of MIRRA in mortar has not been studied. The objectives of this project were to obtain optimum water cement ratio for MIRRA mortar mix, to obtain the suitable mix composition and to obtain the optimum cement replacement by MIRRA in MIRRA mortar. Various water cement ratios (0.60 and 0.65), binder aggregate ratios (1 :3 and 1 :4) and different percentages of cement replacement by MIRRA (0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% and 30%) were used to cast mortar cubes. The sample preparation follows BS 1881 and compressive strength (7, 28 and 60 days after curing), water absorption (60 days after curing) and initial rate of suction (IRS) (60 days after curing) values were determined. The highest result for 28-day compressive strength test for all samples is 46.17MPa from sample 5M360 which contains 5% of cement replacement by MIRRA, binder to sand ratio of 1:3 and water cement ratio of 0.60. Whereas for IRS test, almost all IRS values of all samples fall between accepted range within between 0.25 to 1.5 k:g/m.2.min. For water absorption, almost all samples were under maximum water absorption value for bricks which is 18% water absorption
