Analysis of Patients Visiting Niigata University Medical and Dental Hospital with Chief Complaints of Metal Allergy and/or Focal Infection in the Previous 8 Years
Dental metal allergyand dental focal infection are possible causes of dermatological diseases, but have been the subjects of few reports to date. We have been treating such patients in our special clinicfor more than 20 years. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the mouths of patients visitingour dental hospital over an 8-year period, with the aim of clarifyingwhether dental metal allergy andjor dental focal infection affects their dermatologic conditions. We surveyed all clinicalrecords of the 185 patients who visited Niigata UniversityMedicaland Dental Hospitalwith chiefcomplaints of dental metal allergysince 2002. Diagnosticsof skin diseases, periodontal records, periapical lesions, dental caries, dental metal series patch test results and Electron Probed Micro-Analysis(EPMA)data were investigated. Ninety-two(49%) patients were sufferingfrom pustulosis palmaris et plantaris and 20 (11%)patients had lichen planus. Eighty-two(49%)patients showed positive reactions on patch testing. Based on the result of patch tests, Nishowed the highest positivity rate (62%,51 patients), but on EPMA,the number of patients with Ni as an allergen was 14 (27%).On the other hand, more than 98%of patients who showed positive reactions on patch test to Pd and Au had these metals in their dental prostheses. In addition, 112 (60%)patients showed the possibilityof dental focal infections

On this article, we explored when students escape from `learning\u27. Talking or sleeping in class, apathy, and so on, so called `escape from "learning"\u27 is occured in Suzuka juniorcollege. They are tired in junior college life, and feel dull to class. Their experiences in practice teaching in preschool evoke those feelings. In the process of practice teaching, theyreduce their motivation to want to be a child care giver. Then they lose their purposes of `learning\u27.We regard `escape from learning\u27 as a certain problem about participation to a community of practice. This means we regard `leaning\u27 as participation to communities of practice. Wetook questionnaires to survey their feelings to junior college life and changes of their motivation to be a child care giver, and interviewed some students to survey theirexperiences in practice teaching in preschool

Intestinal microbiome and maternal mental health: preventing parental stress and enhancing resilience in mothers
Matsunaga M., Takeuchi M., Watanabe S., et al. Intestinal microbiome and maternal mental health: preventing parental stress and enhancing resilience in mothers. Communications Biology 7, 235 (2024); https://doi.org/10.1038/s42003-024-05884-5.The number of mothers suffering from mental illness is increasing steadily, particularly under conditions of the coronavirus pandemic. The identification of factors that contribute to resilience in mothers is urgently needed to decrease the risks of poor physical and psychological health. We focused on the risk of parenting stress and psychological resilience in healthy mothers with no psychiatric and physical disorders and conducted two studies to examine the relationships between intestinal microbiota, physical condition, and psychological state. Our results showed that alpha diversity and beta diversity of the microbiome are related to high parenting stress risk. Psychological resilience and physical conditions were associated with relative abundances of the genera Blautia, Clostridium, and Eggerthella. This study helps further understand the gut–brain axis mechanisms and supports proposals for enhancing resilience in mothers
Proliferation of preosteoblasts on TiO 2 nanotubes is FAK/RhoA related
Model for FAK/RhoA modulation of topography-regulated proliferation
RhoA-Mediated Functions in C3H10T1/2 Osteoprogenitors Are Substrate Topography Dependent: TOPOGRAPHY-DEPENDENT RhoA MEDIATED FUNCTIONS
Surface topography broadly influences cellular responses. Adherent cell activities are regulated, in part, by RhoA, a member of the Rho-family of GTPases. In this study, we evaluated the influence of surface topography on RhoA activity and associated cellular functions. The murine mesenchymal stem cell line C3H10T1/2 cells (osteoprogenitor cells) were cultured on titanium substrates with smooth topography (S), microtopography (M), and nanotopography (N) to evaluate the effect of surface topography on RhoA-mediated functions (cell spreading, adhesion, migration, and osteogenic differentiation). The influence of RhoA activity in the context of surface topography was also elucidated using RhoA pharmacologic inhibitor. Following adhesion, M and N adherent cells developed multiple projections, while S adherent cells had flattened and widespread morphology. RhoA inhibitor induced remarkable longer and thinner cytoplasmic projections on all surfaces. Cell adhesion and osteogenic differentiation was topography dependent with S < M and N surfaces. RhoA inhibition increased adhesion on S and M surfaces, but not N surfaces. Cell migration in a wound healing assay was greater on S versus M versus N surfaces and RhoA inhibitor increased S adherent cell migration, but not N adherent cell migration. RhoA inhibitor enhanced osteogenic differentiation in S adherent cells, but not M or N adherent cells. RhoA activity was surface topography roughness dependent (S < M, N). RhoA activity and -mediated functions are influenced by surface topography. Smooth surface adherent cells appear highly sensitive to RhoA function, while nano-scale topography adherent cell may utilize alternative cellular signaling pathway(s) to influence adherent cellular functions regardless of RhoA activity
Cyclophilin-B Modulates Collagen Cross-linking by Differentially Affecting Lysine Hydroxylation in the Helical and Telopeptidyl Domains of Tendon Type I Collagen
Covalent intermolecular cross-linking provides collagen fibrils with stability. The cross-linking chemistry is tissue-specific and determined primarily by the state of lysine hydroxylation at specific sites. A recent study on cyclophilin B (CypB) null mice, a model of recessive osteogenesis imperfecta, demonstrated that lysine hydroxylation at the helical cross-linking site of bone type I collagen was diminished in these animals (Cabral, W. A., Perdivara, I., Weis, M., Terajima, M., Blissett, A. R., Chang, W., Perosky, J. E., Makareeva, E. N., Mertz, E. L., Leikin, S., Tomer, K. B., Kozloff, K. M., Eyre, D. R., Yamauchi, M., and Marini, J. C. (2014) PLoS Genet. 10, e1004465). However, the extent of decrease appears to be tissue- and molecular site-specific, the mechanism of which is unknown. Here we report that although CypB deficiency resulted in lower lysine hydroxylation in the helical cross-linking sites, it was increased in the telopeptide cross-linking sites in tendon type I collagen. This resulted in a decrease in the lysine aldehyde-derived cross-links but generation of hydroxylysine aldehyde-derived cross-links. The latter were absent from the wild type and heterozygous mice. Glycosylation of hydroxylysine residues was moderately increased in the CypB null tendon. We found that CypB interacted with all lysyl hydroxylase isoforms (isoforms 1–3) and a putative lysyl hydroxylase-2 chaperone, 65-kDa FK506-binding protein. Tendon collagen in CypB null mice showed severe size and organizational abnormalities. The data indicate that CypB modulates collagen cross-linking by differentially affecting lysine hydroxylation in a site-specific manner, possibly via its interaction with lysyl hydroxylases and associated molecules. This study underscores the critical importance of collagen post-translational modifications in connective tissue formation
大学生向け殺生行動尺度の作成の試み : 子ども時代の生活体験の効果の分析を通して
The purpose of this study is to investigate how contemporary college students perceive destroying living things. In Study 1, an attempt was made to make a scale incorporating factor analysis of various items concerning destroying lives. The result extracted three subscales: "brutal destruction for play", "destruction for human living", and "destruction for educational practice". In Study 2, we examined relationships between the three subscales and student past experiences. Results showed that the three subscales had correlations with "wild play experience" and "experience of gathering food". In Study 3, the scale of destroying lives was completed, and the correlation with human living experience and their sense of life value were investigated. The results showed that experience of keeping a pet worked negative toward "brutal destruction" and "dissection". Also, "field play experiences" and "experiences in home" worked positive toward "dissection"
