Treatment of dairy wastewater in UASB reactors inoculated with flocculent biomass

This work assesses the possibility of using flocculent sludge in UASB reactors applied to the treatment of dairy wastewater and studies the effect of hydraulic retention time (6, 8, 12 and 16 h) on the performance of the reactors. The results show that the performance of flocculent sludge is similar to what has been reported in literature for granular sludge. It was observed that by raising the HRT from 6 to 12 h the performance of the system is improved concerning the maximum applicable load, the COD removal efficiency and methane production, but by raising the HRT from 12 to 16 h the differences are not meaningful. To attain soluble COD removals, VFA removals and protein mineralisation near 80% and fat removals above 60% it is necessary to operate the UASB reactors at an HRT of at least 12 h. In addition to this the reactors must be operated at loads under 2.5 g COD/ℓ•d in order to attain a conversion to methane of the removed COD above 70%. O processo de debugging tem sido um processo que ao longo dos tempos tem causado diversas dores de cabeça a muitos programadores. Algumas vezes acontece que o erro é encontrado numa fase muito tardia do projeto, o que torna a correção deste um processo custoso. Outras vezes, uma função não contempla todos os casos que seria necessário, e as ferramentas de debugging vão indicar o problema em partes relacionadas, por considerarem que a função foi executada com sucesso. Certas ferramentas como o Crowbar dão-nos, a partir de um conjunto de casos de teste, a possibilidade de ter uma perceção mais visual do projeto que está a ser analisado, bem como a probabilidade de encontrar o erro em certas partes do código. Tendo como base algoritmos que primam pela eficiência em projetos de elevada escala, como o Spectrum-based fault localization, e estando integrado no IDE, é possível ao utilizador ter uma nova abordagem ao problema de localização de falhas. No entanto, até à data ainda não é possível comprovar o verdadeiro impacto de ter uma ferramenta deste tipo na experiência geral do utilizador. Assim, um estudo foi realizado para comparar não só o facto de haver, ou não, uma melhoria da performance dos utilizadores em localizar falhas, assim como a pertinência de ter tal ferramenta integrada num IDE, a facilidade com que conseguiu utilizar a ferramenta e limitações sentidas ao usar o IDE em específico, enquanto que no caso oposto (sem ferramenta) pretendeu-se avaliar qual a abordagem utilizada pelo programador para encontrar o erro, dificuldade que teve no mesmo. Comparando estas duas diferentes experiências com um número relevante de casos em cada uma, será possível tirar conclusões sobre se de facto ferramentas como o Crowbar tornam os utilizadores melhores.Debugging has been a process that is causing various headaches to a large of programmers along time.Sometimes, the error is found at a very late stage of development, leading to added high costs for its correction. Other times, a function is not contemplating all the cases it should, specially some that are not easily perceptible, which lead to an indication by debugging tools that the fault is on related parts, since this function is seen as executed successfully. Some tools like Crowbar give us, from a set of tests, the possibility of having a more visual perception of the project that is being analyzed, as well as the probability of finding the error in certain parts of the code. Having its base on algorithms that strive for efficiency, such as Spectrum-based fault localization, and being integrated in the IDE, the user has the possibility of having a new approach to the fault localization problem. However, so far it is still not possible to state the real impact that having this kind of tool in the general user experience. Therefore, a user study was done to compare not only the fact of having or not a performance improvement by the users on locating faults, but also the importance of having this tool integrated in the IDE, the ease of use of the tool and finally obstacles that the user had due to the need of using a specific IDE. For those who will test the opposite case (the usual process with no tool), we aim to evaluate the approach used by the developer to find the error as well as the difficulty on finding it. By comparing these two experiences, with a relevant number of cases in each, it will be possible to conclude wether or not tools like Crowbar make users better

A DEFINIÇÃO DE FAMILIA COMO UMA LACUNA NO SISTEMA JURÍDICO BRASILEIRO

Nesse curto paper veremos a complexidade da análise das lacunas jurídicas, ao classificá-las e apontar, tanto na teoria como na prática, possíveis soluções. Para tanto, utilizaremos como parâmetro de estudo o caso concreto de concessão do benefício da pensão por morte para o companheiro remanescente de um casal homossexual, cujo parceiro, servidor público, houvera falecido. A celeuma se estabelecerá, pois o INSS se via impedido de conceder tal benefício pelo artigo 127 da Lei 8.112/90 (que dispõe sobre o regime jurídico dos servidores públicos civis da União), entendendo que o conceito de casal homossexual não se enquadrara na noção de “entidade familiar” contido na definição do art. 226, §3°, da Constituição Federal. A questão será debatida sob a perspectiva da possibilidade da aplicação, pelos magistrados, da analogia como forma de supressão da lacuna de norma específica, numa construção argumentativa que efetivamente possa levar a um resultado „justo‟, na acepção mais aberta do termo. Afinal, com dito por Carnelutti, na obra Discurso sobre o direito, “as leis valem pelo que contém de justiça, assim como as moedas valem ou deveriam valer pelo tanto de metal nobre que entra na composição delas”.Palavras-chave: Sistema jurídico. Ideologia. In this short paper we will see the complexity of the legal gap analysis, to classify them and to point out, both in theory and in practice, possible solutions. For this purpose, we use as parameter for evaluating the case for granting the benefit of death pension for the spouse remaining a homosexual couples, whose partner, public servant, there had died. The stir will settle, because the INSS is via prevented from granting this benefit by Article 127 of Law 8.112/90 (which provides for the legal system for civil servants of the Union), understanding that the concept of homosexual couples does not will fit on the notion of "family entity" contained in the definition of art. 226, § 3°, of the Brazilian Federal Constitution. The issue will be discussed from the perspective of the possibility of implementation by the magistrates, the analogy as a form of suppression of the gap of a specific rule, a construction argument that can effectively lead to a result 'fair' within the meaning of the term more open. After all, as said by Carnelutti, the work Discourse on the right, "the laws are worth it contains justice as well as the coins are worth or should enforce both the noble metal in the composition of them."Keywords: Legal system.
