Power system frequency estimation using linear and nonlinear techniques

    Get PDF
In an electrical power system frequency is an important parameter. The frequency of operation is not constant but it varies depending upon the load conditions. In the operating, monitoring and controlling of electric device power system parameters are having great contribution. So it is very important to accurately measure this slowly varying frequency. Under steady state conditions the total power generated by power stations is equal to system load and losses. Frequency can deviate from its nominal value due to sudden appearance of generation-load mismatches. Frequency is a vital parameter which influences different relay functionality of power system. This study was made to estimate the frequency of measuring voltage or current signal in presence of random noise and distortion. Here we are first using linear techniques such as complex least mean square (LMS), least square (LS) and recursive least square (RLS) algorithm for measuring the frequency from the distorted voltage signal. Then comparing these results with nonlinear techniques such as nonlinear least mean square (NLMS), nonlinear least square (NLS), nonlinear recursive least square (NRLS) algorithms. The performances of these algorithms are studied through simulation

A performance of network is evaluated by considering different parameters. The network lifetime depends on many factors Residual energy, Link lifetime and Delay. The Major Challenge in IoT is to the increased lifetime of low power and lossy network (RPL).The process considering input and output to evaluate Network performance by considering the above factors. The proposed system makes use of FIS (Fuzzy Inference System) for selecting the best path to maximize network lifetime. The outcome obtained by using MATLAB and Network performance is increased. The excellent route is selected if Residual Energy is 194, Link quality is 51.2 and Delay is 1.05 then excellent route quality is 73.4%

There is always a possibility of errors to happen into the system when we transmit data over a data link or a network which may affect the integrity of the system leading into a compromised transmission, according to this The performance of the system can be estimated by bit error rate AS (BER)provides an ideal way to achieved such transmission. In this paper we present a graphical user interface (GUI) design of the OSI Physical layer in order to calculate the BER (bit error ratio) of three different modulators (QPSK,16QAM And 64QAM) Each modulator will individually work to achieve results in simulation with respect to the (SNR) signal to noise ratio. We will show a clean figures of the process when simulation is running and comparison of the modulators. Previous researches of (BER) have shown that there are different ways to calculate the BER in order to ensure the quality of digital transmission system

    An Adaptive Color Image Segmentation

    Get PDF
A novel Adaptive Color Image Segmentation (ACIS) System for color image segmentation is presented. The proposed ACIS system uses a neural network with architecture similar to the multilayer perceptron (MLP) network. The main difference is that neurons here uses a multisigmoid activation function. The multisigmoid function is the key for segmentation. The number of steps i.e. thresholds in the multisigmoid function are dependant on the number of clusters in the image. The threshold values for detecting the clusters and their labels are found automatically from the first order derivative of histograms of saturation and intensity in the HSV color space. Here, the main use of neural network is to detect the number of objects automatically from an image. The advantage of this method is that no a priori knowledge is required to segment the color image. ACIS label the objects with their mean colors. The algorithm is found to be reliable and works satisfactorily on different kinds of color images. Experimental results show that the performance of ACIS is robust on noisy images also

An Empirical Investigation of Big Data Analytics: The Financial Performance of Users versus Vendors

    Get PDF
In the age of digitisation and globalisation, businesses have shifted online and are investing in big data analytics (BDA) to respond to changing market conditions and sustain their performance. Our study shifts the focus from the adoption of BDA to the impact of BDA on financial performance. We explore the financial performance of both BDA-vendors (business-to-business) and BDA-clients (business-to-customer). We distinguish between the five BDA-technologies (big-data-as-a-service (BDaaS), descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics) and discuss them individually. Further, we use four perspectives (internal business process, learning and growth, customer, and finance) and discuss the significance of how each of the five BDA-technologies affect the performance measures of these four perspectives. We also present the analysis of employee engagement, average turnover, average net income, and average net assets for BDA-clients and BDA-vendors. Our study also explores the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on business continuity for both BDA-vendors and BDA-clients

Coarse grained dynamics of the freely cooling granular gas in one dimension

We study the dynamics and structure of clusters in the inhomogeneous clustered regime of a freely cooling granular gas of point particles in one dimension. The coefficient of restitution is modeled as r0<1r_0<1 or 1 depending on whether the relative speed is greater or smaller than a velocity scale δ\delta. The effective fragmentation rate of a cluster is shown to rise sharply beyond a δ\delta dependent time scale. This crossover is coincident with the velocity fluctuations within a cluster becoming order δ\delta. Beyond this crossover time, the cluster size distribution develops a nontrivial power law distribution, whose scaling properties are related to those of the velocity fluctuations. We argue that these underlying features are responsible behind the recently observed nontrivial coarsening behaviour in the one dimensional freely cooling granular gas.Comment: 7 Pages, 9 Figure
