Study of unstable particle through the spectral function in O(4) theory
We test application of the maximum entropy method to decompose the states
contributing to the unstable correlation function through the spectral
function in the four dimensional O(4) theory. Reliable results are
obtained for the mass and two-particle state energy using
only the correlation function. We also find that the property of the
particle is different between the unstable ()

Low-speed aerodynamic characteristics of a 0.08-scale YF-17 airplane model at high angles of attack and sideslip
Data were obtained with and without the nose boom and with several strake configurations; also, data were obtained for various control surface deflections. Analysis of the results revealed that selected strake configurations adequately provided low Reynolds number simulation of the high Reynolds number characteristics. The addition of the boom in general tended to reduce the Reynolds number effects
Low speed aerodynamic characteristics of an 0.075-scale F-15 airplane model at high angles of attack and sideslip
An 0.075 scale model representative of the F-15 airplane was tested in the Ames 12 foot pressure wind tunnel at a Mach number of 0.16 to determine static longitudinal and lateral directional characteristics at spin attitudes for Reynolds numbers from 1.48 to 16.4 million per meter (0.45 to 5.0 million per foot). Angles of attack ranged from 0 to +90 deg and from -40 deg to -80 deg while angles of sideslip were varied from -20 deg to +30 deg. Data were obtained for nacelle inlet ramp angles of 0 to 11 deg with the left and right stabilators deflected 0, -25 deg, and differentially 5 deg and -5 deg. The normal pointed nose and two alternate nose shapes were also tested along with several configurations of external stores. Analysis of the results indicate that at higher Reynolds numbers there is a slightly greater tendency to spin inverted than at lower Reynolds numbers. Use of a hemispherical nose in place of the normal pointed nose provided an over correction in simulating yawing moment effects at high Reynolds numbers
Long-Tailed Trapping Times and Levy Flights in a Self-Organized Critical Granular System
We present a continuous time random walk model for the scale-invariant
transport found in a self-organized critical rice pile [Christensen et al.,
Phys. Rev. Lett. 77, 107 (1996)]. From our analytical results it is shown that
the dynamics of the experiment can be explained in terms of L\'evy flights for
the grains and a long-tailed distribution of trapping times. Scaling relations
for the exponents of these distributions are obtained. The predicted

B_K from quenched overlap QCD
We present an exploratory calculation of the standard model Delta S=2 matrix
element relevant for indirect CP violation in K -> pi pi decays. The
computation is performed with overlap fermions in the quenched approximation at
beta=6.0 on a 16^3x32 lattice. The resulting bare matrix element is
renormalized non-perturbatively. Our preliminary result is B_K^{NDR}(2
GeV)=0.61(7), where the error does not yet include an estimate of systematic

The associations of metformin and statins with overall survival (OS) and prostate specific antigen response rate (PSA-RR) in trials in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer remain unclear.
Objective
To determine whether metformin or statins ± abiraterone acetate plus prednisone/prednisolone (AAP) influence OS and PSA-RR.
Design, setting and participant
COU-AA-301 and COU-AA-302 patients were stratified by metformin and statin use. Cox proportional hazards models were used to estimate hazards ratio (HR) stratified by concomitant medications, and a random effects model was used to pool HR. We compared PSA-RR using Chi χ2 test.
Results
In COU-AA-301-AAP, metformin was associated with improved PSA-RR (41.1% versus 28.6%) but not prolonged OS. In COU-AA-301-placebo-P, there was no association between metformin and prolonged OS or PSA-RR. In COU-AA-302-AAP, metformin was associated with prolonged OS (adjHR 0.69, 95% CI 0.48–0.98) and improved PSA-RR (72.7% versus 60.0%). In COU-AA-302-P, metformin was associated with prolonged OS (adjHR 0.66, 95% CI 0.47–0.93). In pooled analysis, OS was prolonged among those treated with metformin (pooled HR 0.77, 95% CI 0.62–0.95).In COU-AA-301-AAP, statins were associated with an improved OS (adjHR 0.76, 95% CI 0.62–0.93), while there was no difference in COU-AA-301-P. There was no association with statins and OS in either COU-AA-302 groups. When pooling HR, OS was prolonged among those treated with statins (pooled HR 0.78, 95% CI 0.68–0.88).
Conclusion
Within the limitations of post-hoc sub-analyses, metformin and statins are associated with a prolonged OS and increased PSA-RR, particularly in combination with AAP
A kinematic analysis of the spine during rugby scrummaging on natural and synthetic turfs
Artificial surfaces are now an established alternative to grass (natural) surfaces in rugby union. Little is known, however, about their potential to reduce injury. This study characterises the spinal kinematics of rugby union hookers during scrummaging on third-generation synthetic (3G) and natural pitches. The spine was sectioned into five segments, with inertial sensors providing three-dimensional kinematic data sampled at 40 Hz/sensor. Twenty-two adult, male community club and university-level hookers were recruited. An equal number were analysed whilst scrummaging on natural or synthetic turf. Players scrummaging on synthetic turf demonstrated less angular velocity in the lower thoracic spine for right and left lateral bending and right rotation. The general reduction in the range of motion and velocities, extrapolated over a prolonged playing career, may mean that the synthetic turf could result in fewer degenerative injuries. It should be noted, however, that this conclusion considers only the scrummaging scenario
Infant motor development predicts the dynamics of movement during sleep
The characteristics of infant sleep change over the first year. Generally, infants wake and move less at night as they grow older. However, acquisition of new motor skills leads to temporary increases in night waking and movement at night. Indeed, sleep-dependent movement at night is important for sensorimotor development. Nevertheless, little is known about how movement during sleep changes as infants accrue locomotor experience. The current study investigated whether infant sleep and movement during sleep were predicted by infants\u27 walking experience. Seventy-eight infants wore an actigraph to measure physical activity during sleep. Parents reported when their infants first walked across a room \u3e10 feet without stopping or falling. Infants in the midst of walking skill acquisition had worse sleep than an age-group estimate. Infants with more walk experience had more temporally sporadic movement during sleep and a steeper hourly increase in physical activity over the course of the night. Ongoing motor skill consolidation changes the characteristics of movement during sleep and may alter sleep state-dependent memory consolidation. We propose a model whereby changes in gross motor activity during night sleep reflect movement-dependent consolidation
Localized and Delocalized Charge Transport in Single-Wall Carbon-Nanotube Mats
We measured the complex dielectric constant in mats of single-wall
carbon-nanotubes between 2.7 K and 300 K up to 0.5 THz. The data are well
understood in a Drude approach with a negligible temperature dependence of the
plasma frequency (omega_p) and scattering time (tau) with an additional
contribution of localized charges. The dielectric properties resemble those of
the best ''metallic'' polypyrroles and polyanilines. The absence of metallic
islands makes the mats a relevant piece in the puzzle of the interpretation of
