Temperature and doping dependence of normal state spectral properties in a two-orbital model for ferropnictides
Using a second-order perturbative Green's functions approach we determined
the normal state single-particle spectral function
employing a minimal effective model for iron-based superconductors. The
microscopic model, used before to study magnetic fluctuations and
superconducting properties, includes the two effective tight-binding bands
proposed by S.Raghu et al. [Phys. Rev. B 77, 220503 (R) (2008)], and intra- and
inter-orbital local electronic correlations, related to the Fe-3d orbitals.
Here, we focus on the study of normal state electronic properties, in
particular the temperature and doping dependence of the total density of
states, , and of in different Brillouin zone
regions, and compare them to the existing angle resolved photoemission
spectroscopy (ARPES) and previous theoretical results in ferropnictides. We
obtain an asymmetric effect of electron and hole doping, quantitative agreement
with the experimental chemical potential shifts as a function of doping, as
well as spectral weight redistributions near the Fermi level as a function of
temperature consistent with the available experimental data. In addition, we
predict a non-trivial dependence of the total density of states with the
temperature, exhibiting clear renormalization effects by correlations.
Interestingly, investigating the origin of this predicted behaviour by
analyzing the evolution with temperature of the k-dependent self-energy
obtained in our approach, we could identify a number of specific Brillouin zone
points, none of them probed by ARPES experiments yet, where the largest
non-trivial effects of temperature on the renormalization are present.Comment: Manuscript accepted in Physics Letters A on Feb. 25, 201
Normal state electronic properties of LaOFBiS superconductors
A good description of the electronic structure of BiS-based
superconductors is essential to understand their phase diagram, normal state
and superconducting properties. To describe the first reports of normal state
electronic structure features from angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy
(ARPES) in LaOFBiS, we used a minimal microscopic model to
study their low energy properties. It includes the two effective tight-binding
bands proposed by Usui et al [Phys.Rev.B 86, 220501(R)(2012)], and we added
moderate intra- and inter-orbital electron correlations related to Bi-(,
) and S-(, ) orbitals. We calculated the electron Green's
functions using their equations of motion, which we decoupled in second-order
of perturbations on the correlations. We determined the normal state spectral
density function and total density of states for LaOFBiS,
focusing on the description of the k-dependence, effect of doping, and the
prediction of the temperature dependence of spectral properties. Including
moderate electron correlations, improves the description of the few
experimental ARPES and soft X-ray photoemission data available for
LaOFBiS. Our analytical approximation enabled us to
calculate the spectral density around the conduction band minimum at
, and to predict the temperature dependence of
the spectral properties at different BZ points, which might be verified by
temperature dependent ARPES.Comment: 9 figures. Manuscript accepted in Physica B: Condensed Matter on Jan.

Uso de redes sociales como elemento de interacción y construcción de contenidos en el aula: cultura participativa a través de Facebook.
Today, it is necessary to innovate in the classroom with resources used by digital natives. This innovation must be present as a motivator in classrooms; therefore, to implement it is currently a challenge. The social networks have allowed to the teachers interact with students in a more natural way, using the same language that they use for their activities outside the classroom. In this research, we expect to know if students accept the strategy of Facebook implementation in the classroom, as a tool for teaching-learning process in the university.
AbstractThis work shows the wave propagation in fluid-solid interfaces due to dynamic excitations, such interface waves are known as Scholte's waves. We studied a wide range of elastic solid materials used in engineering. The interface connects an acoustic medium (fluid) and another solid. It has been shown that by means of an analysis of diffracted waves in a fluid, it is possible to deduce the mechanical characteristics of the solid medium, specifically, its propagation velocities. For this purpose, the diffracted field of pressures and displacements, due to an initial pressure in the fluid, are expressed using boundary integral representations, which satisfy the equation of motion. The initial pressure in the fluid is represented by a Hankel's function of second kind and zero order. The solution to this problem of wave propagation is obtained by means of the Indirect Boundary Element Method, which is equivalent to the well-known Somigliana's representation theorem. The validation of the results was performed by means of the Discrete Wave Number Method. Firstly, spectra of pressures to illustrate the behavior of the fluid for each solid material considered are included, then, the Fast Fourier Transform algorithm to display the results in the time domain is applied, where the emergence of Scholte's waves and the amount of energy that they carry are highlighted
Education and Tourism: The Inclusion of Ancestral Knowledge in the University Degree Curricula
Being able to recognize your own individual rights in vulnerable situations is a good way to live. A new curriculum developed under Ecuador’s Higher Education Board brings together the inter-cultural concept. In ancient cultures, segregation existed among Latin American people in higher education. In this way, the new proposal for education makes it vital for future professionals to develop in the domain of methods and proceeds about ancient acknowledge, traditions, and cultural. To achieve the purpose of having inclusive curricula, it was needed to analyze ancient thoughts focused in the Salasaka community consmovision (descendant from Bolivia settled in Ecuador) and Chibuleos community who formulated the methodology that promotes cultural consciousness and is focused on the development and potentiation of habits and customs that generate different ways of living and thinking in the new educational environments. The obtained results are in function of statistics settings that show inclusive methodologies that link up the university professorship with ancient knowledge and culture. The use of this investigation is the implementation of methodologies in curricula in Ecuadorian universities in higher education. It’s about transforming the ideological challenges on the academic formation of the ancestral towns

Functional Signatures of the Epiphytic Prokaryotic Microbiome of Agaves and Cacti.
Microbial symbionts account for survival, development, fitness and evolution of eukaryotic hosts. These microorganisms together with their host form a biological unit known as holobiont. Recent studies have revealed that the holobiont of agaves and cacti comprises a diverse and structured microbiome, which might be important for its adaptation to drylands. Here, we investigated the functional signatures of the prokaryotic communities of the soil and the episphere, that includes the rhizosphere and phyllosphere, associated with the cultivated Agave tequilana and the native and sympatric Agave salmiana, Opuntia robusta and Myrtillocactus geometrizans by mining shotgun metagenomic data. Consistent with previous phylogenetic profiling, we found that Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria and Firmicutes were the main represented phyla in the episphere of agaves and cacti, and that clustering of metagenomes correlated with the plant compartment. In native plants, genes related to aerobic anoxygenic phototrophy and photosynthesis were enriched in the phyllosphere and soil, while genes coding for biofilm formation and quorum sensing were enriched in both epiphytic communities. In the episphere of cultivated A. tequilana fewer genes were identified, but they belonged to similar pathways than those found in native plants. A. tequilana showed a depletion in several genes belonging to carbon metabolism, secondary metabolite biosynthesis and xenobiotic degradation suggesting that its lower microbial diversity might be linked to functional losses. However, this species also showed an enrichment in biofilm and quorum sensing in the epiphytic compartments, and evidence for nitrogen fixation in the rhizosphere. Aerobic anoxygenic phototrophic markers were represented by Rhizobiales (Methylobacterium) and Rhodospirillales (Belnapia) in the phyllosphere, while photosystem genes were widespread in Bacillales and Cyanobacteria. Nitrogen fixation and biofilm formation genes were mostly related to Proteobacteria. These analyses support the idea of niche differentiation in the rhizosphere and phyllosphere of agaves and cacti and shed light on the potential mechanisms by which epiphytic microbial communities survive and colonize plants of arid and semiarid ecosystems. This study establishes a guideline for testing the relevance of the identified functional traits on the microbial community and the plant fitness
