The new, Hungarian developed, 100 % low-floor, air-conditioned, articulated IkarusSkoda Trl87.2 type trolleybuses were put in service in 2013-14 in Szeged. These trolleybuses have the ability to roll with batteries independent of the catenary. In this article we discuss in details the development trends of the traction batteries as well as their operation in different environments. We give a summary about the experiences, and their demonstration run within the Eliptic-project framework. We give an outlook to the possibility of the extension of the trolleybus operation in battery mode, and the charging capability of electric midi buses from the catenary.Szegeden 2013-14 során álltak forgalomba az új Ikarus-ákoda Trl87.2-es típusú hazai fejlesztésű, 100%-ban alacsonypadlós, utastéri klímaberendezéssel is felszerelt csuklós trolibuszok. Az új trolibuszok akkumulátoros önjáró képességgel is rendelkeznek. A cikkben részletesen bemutatjuk a vontatási akkumulátorok fejlődésének világtrendjeit, méretezését trolibuszok számára, valamint azok működését különböző üzemi körülmények között. Összefoglalót adunk a járművek üzemeltetési tapasztalatairól, demonstrációs célú működésükről az Eliptic-projekt keretében. Egyben kitekintést nyújtunk a trolibusz üzem kiterjesztésének lehetőségeire önjáró üzemmódban, illetve az elektromos városi midibuszok vonali töltésének megoldására

Simulations for optical design and analysis

Why should we apply optical simulation and light modeling software? More and more improperly designed low-grade products can be found on the market, which can cause negative experiences and financial losses both to the vendors and to the users. Incorrect prototypes or products always require re-design. The worse option is the re-manufacturing, which is extremely expensive. To avoid these problems, we can apply software for optical design and analysis, which is an economical solution. The prototype of the product will be properly designed, thus posterior modification or remanufacturing of the molding and forming tool is avoidable. The time of the design can be significantly reduced as well. A professional light-modeling and simulation software called OPTIS SPEOS is used at the BUTE - MOEI, to design and develop different optical and lighting systems. This paper describes some of our experiences with optical design and light modeling

Development of e-Learning Modules for Teaching Energy for Sustainable World

Within the project ”Teaching Energy for Sustainable World” (SustEner) financed by the European Union nine practically oriented modules with remote experiments or interactive animation materials will be offered in a web based learning portal. Here the development and the operation of two modules titled ”Solar Powered Electric Vehicles” and ”Luminous Efficacy of Modern Light Sources” are described in some detail
