Solid pseudopapillary neoplasm of the pancreas is a rare tumor that has favorable prognosis. It poses frequently diagnostic challenges. We describe two cases of solid pseudopapillary tumor of the pancreas managed in our department between 2007 and 2011. Two females have mean age of 36.5 years. Clinical presentation include: abdominal pain, bloating and palpable abdominal mass. Tumor is localized in the head of the pancreas in one case and in the tail in the other case. The mean size of the mass was 6 cm (range: 5 to 7 cm). Surgical treatment was performed in two cases. Histological examination confirms the diagnosis of solid pseudopapillary tumor of the pancreas. Immunohistochemical analysis was concordant to the literature data especially concerning CD99 which positivity was in dot, loss of positivity of E-cadherin and nuclear staining of β-catenin. CD10 and α-1-antitrypsin were also positive. One patient was dead 3 days postoperative and neither cancer recurrence nor distant metastases were detected on the follow up of the other. However, solid pseudo-papillary tumor of the pancreas has a distinctive histological appearance; some cases are problematic requiring the use of immunohistochemistry to distinguish it from other pancreatic neoplasm which prognosis is different

Nowadays, the body is seen as a medium, where the unspoken, tensions, and criticisms crystallize. Artists have appropriated it as one of the core materials of their artistic practices. In this article, we will mainly focus on the American artist Cindy Sherman, who portrays her photographs in a way that highlights women-associated stereotypes. We will focus on the different steps of her work in order to educe aesthetic notions and concepts

Observability, left invertibility for hybrid dynamical system

This th esis deal with the observers synthesis and left invertibility problem for the switched linears systems (SLS). Thus, According to the top ological configuration and the hybrid time tra jectory, unobservable s ubsystem can app ear for this cl ass of hybrid system.Based on Z(TN)observability concept and with respect to the hyb rid time tra jectory, a hybrid observer can b e designed to deal with this problem. An application to SingleEnded P rimary Inductor Converter (SEPIC )was done. Dep ending on the switching signal, two cases were discussed in this work. Firstly, when the discret state (switching signal) was known, a fourth order hybrid sliding mo de differentiator was designed to reconstruct SEPIC continuous states. For the second case, by assuming that the active mo de was unknown, a hybrid algorithm was elab orated by using Luenb erger and sliding mo de ob servers to identify the switchin g signal in the first and then continuous states. In addition, we synthesized a voltage Sensorless MPPT algorithm based on the left invertibilty theory. Keywords : Left Invertibility, switched linear system, Z(TN)observability, hybrid sliding mode differentiator, Luenberger observer, sensorless MPPT algorith

International audienceIn this paper, a hybrid observer for a class of DC-DC power converter is proposed. The considered class of switched system including one or several unobservable subspace. Thus, the state vector of a converter is not observable at any time. The aim is to solve this problem of observability by taking into account the hybrid dynamic behavior appearing in the converter. Such problem can be tacked by a new observability concept (Z(TN)-Observability). An application to a Single-Ended Primary Inductor Converter (SEPIC) is presented. After recalling to hybrid dynamic behavior of the SEPIC, an observability analysis is investigated. Following this analysis, a hybrid observer is designed based on homogeneous observer coupled with an estimator. Finally some illustrative results are given in order to show the efficiency of the designed observer

Reactive oxygen species, heat stress and oxidative-induced mitochondrial damage. A review

International audienceIn recent years there has been enormous interest in researching oxidative stress. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are derived from the metabolism of oxygen as by-products of cell respiration, and are continuously produced in all aerobic organisms. Oxidative stress occurs as a consequence of an imbalance between ROS production and the available antioxidant defence against them. Nowadays, a variety of diseases and degenerative processes such as cancer, Alzheimer’s and autoimmune diseases are mediated by oxidative stress. Heat stress was suggested to be an environmental factor responsible for stimulating ROS production because of similarities in responses observed following heat stress compared with that occurring following exposure to oxidative stress. This manuscript describes the main mitochondrial sources of ROS and the antioxidant defences involved to prevent oxidative damage in all the mitochondrial compartments. It also deals with discussions concerning the cytotoxic effect of heat stress, mitochondrial heat-induced alterations, as well as heat shock protein (HSP) expression as a defence mechanism

A new organic–inorganic hybrid salt[C4H12N2]4·Pb2Cl11·Cl·4H2O, containing [Pb2Cl11]7−anions, has been synthesized and characterized by several techniques. X-ray diffraction study shows that the compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic system and Pnnm space group with a = 8.210 (5), b = 25.782 (5), c = 9.467 (5) Å and V = 2003.9 (17) Å3.The structure of the title compound can be described by organic-inorganic layers extending parallel to the (a, b) plane at z = 0 and z = ½. These layers are built up by means of hydrogen bonds forming a three-dimensional network. Intermolecular interactions were investigated by Hirshfeld surfaces. Scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) were carried out. Vibrational assignments of the title compound are discussed by FT-IR and FT-Raman spectroscopic studies and DFT calculations allowed the attribution of the spectral bands. The optical study was also investigated by UV–Vis absorption and photoluminescence spectroscopy. The thermal behavior was studied by TGA/DTA analysis.Financial support from Spanish MINECO (MAT2016-78155-C2-1-R, MAT2013-40950-R, and FPI grant BES-2011-046948 to MSM.A.), Gobierno del Principado de Asturias (GRUPIN14-060), FEDER, the Secretary of State for Scientific Research and Technology of Tunisia and Department of Chemistry, College of Sciences and Humanities, Shaqra University, 11911, Ad-Dawadmi, Saudi Arabia are acknowledged.Peer reviewe

The crystal structure of new organic-inorganic hybrid (2-hydroxyethyl)piperazine-1,4-diiumtetrachloromercurate (II), [C6H16N2O]HgCl4, was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. In the atomic arrangement, the different entities are held together through N-H⋯Cl, C-H⋯Cl and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds to form ribbons. The powder XRD pattern was in good relation with the results of single crystal structure analysis. This compound was also investigated by scanning electronic microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray, infrared spectroscopy and differential thermal analysis. DFT calculations allowed the attribution of the IR bands. Intermolecular interactions were investigated by Hirshfeld surfaces. The thermal analysis shows that this compound is stable below 380 K.The financial support from Spanish MINECO (MAT2016-78155-C2-1-R, MAT2013- 40950-R, and FPI grant BES-2011-046948 to MSM.A.), Gobierno del Principado de Asturias (GRUPIN14-060), FEDER, the Secretary of State for Scientific Research and Technology of Tunisia and Department of Chemistry, College of Sciences and Humanities, Shaqra University, 11911, Ad-Dawadmi, Saudi Arabia are acknowledged.Peer reviewe

The new organic-inorganic compound, (C9H14N)2[SnCl6], has been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction at room temperature. Structural analysis indicates that this compound crystallizes in the monoclinic system with C2/m space group. The NH⋯Cl hydrogen bonds between (C9H14N)+ cations and [SnCl6]2- dianions contribute to the cohesion and the stability of the atomic arrangement. Hirshfeld surface analysis was used to investigate intermolecular interactions, as well 2D finger plots were conducted to reveal the contribution of these interactions in the crystal structure quantitatively. Furthermore, the room temperature Infrared (IR) spectrum of the title compound was analyzed on the basis of data found in the literature. The optical properties of the crystal were studied using optical absorption UV–visible and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, which were investigated at room temperature exhibited one band at 237 nm and a photoluminescence emission at 407 nm. Experimental room-temperature X-ray studies were supported by theoretical methods using the DFT/B3LYP methods with the LanL2DZ basis set. The X-ray powder is in agreement with the X-ray structure. To determine molecular electrical transport properties we studied the energy difference between Occupied, HOMO, and Lowest Unoccupied, LUMO orbitals. Moreover, this compound was characterized by thermal analysis between 300 and 750 K and shows that the compound remains stable up to the temperature 383 K. Finally, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis is reported to determine the degree of oxidation of tin in this compound and analyze the surface chemistry of (C9H14N)2[SnCl6].Financial support from Spanish MINECO (MAT2016-78155-C2-1-R, MAT2013-40950-R, and FPI grant BES-2011-046948 to MSM.A.), GobiernodelPrincipado de Asturias (GRUPIN14-060), FEDER, and the Secretary of State for Scientific Research and Technology of Tunisia, are acknowledged
