Increased non-face-to-face teaching imparted to large groups due to the ongoing pandemic has led to academic stress and anxiety becoming common among students, because of the continuous challenges they have to face, such as exams, the economic situation, and having to adapt to new teaching/learning methodologies that require greater use of ICT (Information and Communications Technology). Thus, this study, for which an ex post facto design was utilized, aimed to analyze the differences in perceived anxiety according to the course and gender among 203 Spanish university students, most of them pursuing educational sciences and psychology—statistically significant differences were observed according to the course, but not gender. The results obtained could help design relevant psychoeducational actions and interventions for the prevention of stress and anxiety, to contribute to improvement in wellbeing, quality of life, and academic performance in university students.
Planar Solid Oxide Fuel Cells Using PSZ, Processed by Sequential Aqueous Tape Casting and Constrained Sintering
A process for obtaining planar anode‐supported solid oxide fuel cells was developed. Aqueous‐based slurries were prepared and sequentially deposited via tape casting to form half cell tapes consisting of the electrolyte, functional, and structural anode. Sintering of the three‐layered tapes was done in two stages: presintering circular samples of 25 mm diameter in free conditions first, and then sintering them using zirconium disks as light loads (90 Pa), to obtain half cells having 20 mm and 3.8 m−1 in diameter and curvature, respectively. Active materials for the electrolyte, anode, and cathode were partially stabilized zirconia (PSZ), Ni and LSM, respectively. Finally, thicknesses of complete cells were 400, 30, 30, and 80 μm for the structural anode, functional anode, electrolyte, and cathode, respectively. The cells were tested in a no‐chamber (direct‐flame) setup evaluating electrochemical performance and shock thermal resistance. Open circuit voltage was 830 mV at 560°C using methanol as fuel in a burner with porous media to modify the shape of the flame. Cells were also strong enough to resist the rapid temperature changes during several no‐chamber tests
Vida artificial y personajes virtuales

Advancements, deficiencies, and future necessities of studying Saprolegniales: A semi-quantitative review of 1073 published papers
Research on the order Saprolegniales (Oomycota) has been an ongoing quest for more than a century. The best studied genera are Saprolegnia and Aphanomyces, known for their pathogenicity on freshwater animals. In this study, we reviewed 1073 papers and 2803 ITS sequences of Saprolegniales to investigate their taxonomy, diversity and potential roles in mainly freshwater ecosytems. We found that, in general, our knowledge on diversity and ecology of Saprolegniales is limited. Neither classic taxonomy nor available molecular techniques have been sufficient to delineate genera and species and show their relative distribution in freshwater-associated habitats. Also, we currently lack a comprehensive understanding of their involvement in carbon turnover and food web dynamics. Finally, due to lack of using high-throughput sequencing techniques, it is not clear how and to what extent communities of Saprolegniales might differ in freshwater econiches. Therefore, we provide a historical perspective on the establishment of Saprolegniales, explain improvements, highlight deficiencies, and finally propose new research avenues for more systematic studies. We conclude that challenges in studying Saprolegniales can be removed by increasing the practicality of classic taxonomy and applying available molecular toolboxes (multi-gene phylogeny and high-throughput sequencing). Additionally, inclusion of Saprolegniales in freshwater carbon cycling should be addressed for their better ecological resolution

Preparing university teachers for times of uncertainty : the role of a transnational pedagogical-development training in Palestinian higher education
Purpose The aim of this study is to explore the extent to which a transnational pedagogical training affected university teachers' approaches to teaching, as well as their efficacy beliefs and cultural perceptions, and to examine how such training could stimulate teachers' pedagogical-development processes beyond the specific context. Design/methodology/approach An explanatory sequential mixed-methods design was adopted for the study. Quantitative data were collected through an online self-reported questionnaire from two-independent samples, both before (n = 119) and after (n = 110) the training. Qualitative data were collected after the training through episodic narrative interviews with five teachers. Findings The quantitative and qualitative findings indicate contradictory aspects of the teaching approach and perceived culture. While the questionnaire responses highlighted the dominance of teacher-centred teaching approaches and an individualistic culture, a thematic analysis of the interview data showed that teachers experienced pedagogical development as (1) increasing student engagement, (2) improving their own teaching practices, (3) a community activity and (4) an institutionalised process. Research limitations/implications The design of the current research may have limited the authors’ potential to deeply investigate the effect of the transnational pedagogical training, as only snapshots of the teachers' perceptions were elicited. Future studies might consider a within-subject longitudinal design to thoroughly follow teachers' trajectories in learning and development over time. Practical implications The research findings suggest that transnational pedagogical training initiatives are to be promoted amidst these uncertain times. Even though the focus of the study was not to explore the teachers' perceptions of teaching development during the pandemic, the current results imply that the mentioned training helped teachers in tailoring their pedagogical practices to suit the unexpected online teaching settings. Originality/value The study adds to the relatively new literature on the perceived effect of transnational pedagogical training initiatives. This study’s findings contribute to the body of knowledge related to pedagogical development in fragile and conflict-affected contexts.publishedVersionPeer reviewe
