The Bak-Sneppen Model on Scale-Free Networks

We investigate by numerical simulations and analytical calculations the Bak-Sneppen model for biological evolution in scale-free networks. By using large scale numerical simulations, we study the avalanche size distribution and the activity time behavior at nodes with different connectivities. We argue the absence of a critical barrier and its associated critical behavior for infinite size systems. Bioinspired snapping-claw apparatus to study hydrodynamic cavitation effects on the corrosion of metallic samples

A creative low-cost and compact mechanical device that mimics the rapid closure of the pistol shrimp claw was used to conduct electrochemical experiments, in order to study the effects of hydrodynamic cavitation on the corrosion of aluminum and steel samples. Current-time curves show significant changes associated with local variations in dissolved O2 concentration, cavitation-induced erosion and changes in the nature of the surface corrosion products

Vademécum de cardiología

En este trabajo revisamos los fármacos que pueden emplearse en Cardiología, destacando en negrita aquellos cuyo uso es más frecuente. Los nombres comerciales que citamos no responden a ningún fin publicitario, existiendo otros muchos que pueden ser igualmente utilizados. Las dosis indicadas son aquellas que están internacionalmente reconocidas o, en su defecto, aquellas que los autores consideran adecuadas basándose en su experiencia personal en la Cardiología clínica práctica de los pequeños animales. Cuando no existen dosis reconocidas de algún medicamento, se ha dejado un espacio para poder completar gradualmente este vademécum.This paper reviews the drugs we can use in small animals Cardiology highlighting in bold face those used most often. The brand names named in this report are not used with intention of publicity, existing many other drugs that can be used in their place in Spain. The dosages we indicate are internationaly accepted or they are those the authors employ according to their personal experience in the Cardiology of small animals. When we don 't have recognized dosages of a drug, we have put a space to complete gradually this vademecum

Experiencia clínica con la utilización de nitratos vasodilatadores : Dinitrato de isosorbide y 5-mononitrato de isosorbide en el tratamiento de la insuficiencia cardíaca congestiva en 128 perros

En este trabajo estudiamos el uso de dos nitratos: dinitrato de isosorbide y su forma activa, el 5-mononitrato de isosorbide, vasodilatadores venosos, en 128 perros con insuficiencia cardíaca: congestiva describiendo su utilización, dosis empleadas, asociaciones con otros fármacos y evolución de los pacientes.In this paper we study the use of two nitrates: isosorbide dinitrate and its active metabolite the 5-isosorbide mononitrate, venodilators, in 128 dogs with congestive heart failure. Open access to educational resources in energy and sustainability: Usability evaluation prototype for repositories

The purpose of this paper is to show a PhD dissertation research plan, which aims to assess whether the users’ experience of users to perform various tasks in an open access repository, increases by integrating Discovery Tools. The tasks to perform by the users are management and information design, dissemination and searches of open educational resources (OER) of sustainability energy. This research aims to develop a usability evaluation prototype which will offer new insights in the design of the information architecture. In the first stage, the criteria will be selected to measure the level of usability of the tasks to evaluate and develop the analysis of the current interactive design of the web repository. In the second stage, will consist of measure, once implemented the Discovery Tools in the web repository and check the usability level increase in relation with the criteria. In this paper you could find aspects as the motivations and the context in which it will develop this research, state of the art, hypothesis, research objectives, aspects of the methodology of the research, developed under the method of mixed layout, the current an expected contribution, the results and the validation and dissertation status. The results will contribute for detect new criteria and parameters for provide flexible interfaces, specifically for the web repositories, which are a part of the technological ecosystem of the scientific activity
