    We present the first records of the Truandó Toad, Rhaebo haematiticus (Cope, 1862), in the inter-Andean valley of the Middle Cauca River, Colombia, the second largest inter-Andean basin of the country. In Colombia, this species has been extensively documented in the Chocó biogeographic region, on the western slopes of the Cordillera Occidental, in the valley of Magdalena River, and the foothills of the western slope of the northern Cordillera Oriental. Our records help fill an expansive hiatus in the known distribution of this species and increases the number of amphibians known to occur in the basin of the Cauca River

    En el caribe colombiano existe un amplio acervo cultural que lo posiciona como una de las regiones más ricas a nivel nacional e internacional y el cual posibilita el desarrollo de iniciativas cuyo propósito sea mejorar el bienestar de la población a través del fortalecimiento y la salvaguardia de sus espacios culturales. El Centro de Convenciones "La Perla", en la ciudad de Santa Marta, cuyo principal objetivo es la recuperación de la cultura de las comunidades indígenas de la Sierra Nevada. Funcionará como centro de convenciones, centro recreacional y espacio para demostraciones culturales en las que se brinde un espacio para el comercio formal de artesanías indígenas. El proyecto se encuentra ubicado en la zona industrial de Santa Marta, al lado de la pista de BMX, y adyacente a la Vía Alterna al Puerto, una vía nacional con alto tránsito vehicular, lo cual se tuvo en cuenta para estimar las entradas al centro y el diseño de pavimentos que pudiera soportar la composición vehicular esperada. Cabe resaltar que al ser una zona industrial, sin cuerpos de agua ni áreas de bosque protegido,no se espera mayor impacto ambiental, sin embargo, se proponen planes de mitigación y medidas compensatorias. Adicionalmente, la capacidad estimada es de 5000 espectadores, por lo que cuenta con salones de conferencias con capacidad suficiente, zona de parqueo subterránea y en las afueras de la primera planta, plazoletas que pueden ser usadas para eventos, zona de cafetería y baños múltiples. Se utilizará presupuesto del departamento de magdalena para la financiación de este proyecto y un convenio con la sociedad portuaria de Santa Marta para la realización de la vía, puesto que esta beneficiará a las empresas adyacentes. En general, es un proyecto que beneficia a la parte social, empresarial y turística de Santa Marta, dado que es un espacio que generará mayores oportunidades de empleo, captará la atención de los turistas y beneficiará al sector económico de la ciudad.In the Colombian Caribbean, there is a broad cultural heritage that positions it as one of the richest regions at the national and international level and which enables the development of initiatives whose purpose is to improve the well-being of the population through the strengthening and safeguarding of its cultural spaces. "La Perla" Convention Center, in Santa Marta, whose main objective is the recovery of the culture of the indigenous communities of the Sierra Nevada. It will work as a convention/recreational center and space for cultural demonstrations in which provides a space for the formal trade of indigenous crafts. The project is located in the industrial area of ​​Santa Marta, next to the BMX track, and adjacent to the Vía Alterna al Puerto, a national highway with high vehicular traffic, which was taken into account to estimate the entrances to the center and the design of pavements that could support the expected vehicular composition. It should be noted that being an industrial zone, without water bodies or protected forest areas, no greater environmental impact is expected, however, mitigation plans and compensatory measures are proposed. Additionally, the estimated capacity is 5000 spectators, which is why it has conference rooms with sufficient capacity, an underground parking area, and on the outskirts of the first floor, platforms that can be used for events, a cafeteria area, and multiple bathrooms. A budget from the department of Magdalena will be used to finance this project and an agreement with the port society of Santa Marta to carry out the road since it will benefit adjacent companies. In general, it is a project that benefits the social, business, and tourist part of Santa Marta, given that it is a space that will generate greater employment opportunities, capture the attention of tourists and benefit the city's economic sector

It is important to estimate their quantitative impact on COVID-19 mortality upon SARS-CoV-2 infection, by age and sex, as both the prevalence of these autoantibodies and the risk of COVID-19 death increase with age and are higher in men. Using an unvaccinated sample of 1,261 deceased patients and 34,159 individuals from the general population, we found that autoantibodies against type I IFNs strongly increased the SARS-CoV-2 infection fatality rate at all ages, in both men and women. Autoantibodies against type I IFNs are strong and common predictors of life-threatening COVID-19. Testing for these autoantibodies should be considered in the general population

    Highly-parallelized simulation of a pixelated LArTPC on a GPU

    The rapid development of general-purpose computing on graphics processing units (GPGPU) is allowing the implementation of highly-parallelized Monte Carlo simulation chains for particle physics experiments. This technique is particularly suitable for the simulation of a pixelated charge readout for time projection chambers, given the large number of channels that this technology employs. Here we present the first implementation of a full microphysical simulator of a liquid argon time projection chamber (LArTPC) equipped with light readout and pixelated charge readout, developed for the DUNE Near Detector. The software is implemented with an end-to-end set of GPU-optimized algorithms. The algorithms have been written in Python and translated into CUDA kernels using Numba, a just-in-time compiler for a subset of Python and NumPy instructions. The GPU implementation achieves a speed up of four orders of magnitude compared with the equivalent CPU version. The simulation of the current induced on 10310^3 pixels takes around 1 ms on the GPU, compared with approximately 10 s on the CPU. The results of the simulation are compared against data from a pixel-readout LArTPC prototype

The dual-site experiment will employ an intense neutrino beam focused on a near and a far detector as it aims to determine the neutrino mass hierarchy and to make high-precision measurements of the PMNS matrix parameters, including the CP-violating phase. It will also stand ready to observe supernova neutrino bursts, and seeks to observe nucleon decay as a signature of a grand unified theory underlying the standard model. The DUNE far detector implements liquid argon time-projection chamber (LArTPC) technology, and combines the many tens-of-kiloton fiducial mass necessary for rare event searches with the sub-centimeter spatial resolution required to image those events with high precision. The addition of a photon detection system enhances physics capabilities for all DUNE physics drivers and opens prospects for further physics explorations. Given its size, the far detector will be implemented as a set of modules, with LArTPC designs that differ from one another as newer technologies arise. In the vertical drift LArTPC design, a horizontal cathode bisects the detector, creating two stacked drift volumes in which ionization charges drift towards anodes at either the top or bottom. The anodes are composed of perforated PCB layers with conductive strips, enabling reconstruction in 3D. Light-trap-style photon detection modules are placed both on the cryostat's side walls and on the central cathode where they are optically powered. This Technical Design Report describes in detail the technical implementations of each subsystem of this LArTPC that, together with the other far detector modules and the near detector, will enable DUNE to achieve its physics goals
