    BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE CAPABILITIES' EFFECTS ON PERFORMANCE IN A COMPETITIVE ENVIRONMENT STUDYING ON-SITE AT THE TOUCHES FOUNDATION FOR ART AND INNOVATION

    Abstract This study aims to determine how the touches Foundation for Innovation and the Arts' competitive performance was impacted by its business intelligence capabilities. All 63 members of the touches Foundation for Innovation and the Arts make up the study community. The study's methodology was based on a scoring descriptive approach that identified two aspects-the first of which was business intelligence capabilities-and three other dimensions. These are (business intelligence techniques, business intelligence structure, and business intelligence culture) and competitive performance after four dimensions (cost, quality, flexibility. access) According to the study's findings, the Touches Foundation for Innovation and the Arts employees had an average degree of business intelligence across all of its aspects. The study's findings also indicated that the Touches Foundation for Innovation and the Arts employees' level of performance in a competitive environment was average additionally, the findings of the regression equation have demonstrated that there are statistically significant disparities between competitive performance and business intelligence skills across all dimensions. The study's conclusion included a number of recommendations, including educating the company's leadership and workers about the importance of acquiring business intelligence skills in order to enhance the operation of the company and take advantage of future business prospects

    Approaches and Solutions to Hospital Emergency Department Overcrowding Including Failure Mode and Effect Analysis as a Risk Assessment Technique of Real-time Locating System

    Emergency Departments (ED) are highly dynamic environments comprising complex multi-dimensional patient-care processes. In recent decades, there has been increased pressure to improve ED services, while taking into account various aspects such as clinical quality, operational efficiency, and cost performance. Overcrowding has become a major barrier to receiving a proper and timely emergency care in many acute hospitals throughout the world. Patients often face long waiting times to be seen and treated. Those who require admission may even wait longer. The scope of this research is to focus on ED factors that lead to overcrowding and their management. Technology is being cited as one of the management tools, specifically the utilization of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) for tracking patients as their journey progresses through an ED. Like any technology, RFID has potential and pitfalls. The author chose to use Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) as a tool to explore the possible failures of RFID technology as it is utilized in one of the ED in Riyadh Military Hospital (RMH). This particular ED has been used as a case study to explore those failures and, with the use of FMEA, propose a set of recommendations to address those failures and improve the design and implementation of RFID. The experience of RMH-ED was explored through interviews and a survey in which 100 participants took part. The survey touched upon various aspects of this experience. This was due to the various roles of the surveyed staff who were involved with this technology. These roles ranged from front line clinical staff to administrative staff, management staff and technical support staff. Data analysis showed convincing evidence of the positive impact RFID had on managing ED overcrowding. However, and as expected, there are some pitfalls and failures that FMEA helped identifying and suggested potential solutions to them. RFID is a small link in the chain of other technological innovations and solutions. It is by no means capable of solving the problems associated with ED overcrowding by itself. Most of the search carried out by the author identified large variation in approaches to dealing with the issue of ED overcrowding. Those ranged from applying more human resources to altering the pathways of managing patients journey through healthcare system to applying more intermediate layers of management to ease the pressure of the Emergency departments. Other approaches included some aspects of technology such as development of early warning systems that have not been widely adopted and remained as isolated efforts

    1,3,4-Thiadiazole and 1,2,4-triazole-3(4 H )-thione bearing salicylate moiety: synthesis and evaluation as anti- Candida albicans

    Dramatically increased occurrence of both superficial and invasive fungal infections has been observed. Candida albicans appear to be the main etiological agent of invasive fungal infections. The anti-C. albicans activity of thiosemicarbazide, 1,3,4-Thiadiazole, and 1,2,4-triazole-3(4H)-thione compounds (compounds 3-23) were investigated. The MIC values of thiadiazole and triazole derivatives 10-23 were in the range of 0.08-0.17 µmol mL-1, while that of fluconazole was 0.052 µmol mL-1. Compound 11 (5-(2-(4-chlorobenzyloxy)phenyl)-N-allyl-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-amine) and compound 18 (5-(2-(4-chlorobenzyloxy)phenyl)-4-allyl-2H-1,2,4-triazole-3(4H)-thione) were found to be the most active compounds, with MIC values of 0.08 µmol mL-1. The newly synthesized thiadiazole and triazole compounds (compounds 10-23) showed promising anti-Candida activity. The allyl substituent-bearing compounds 11 and 18 exhibited significant anti-Candida albicans activity and showed a binding mode as well as the fluconazole x-ray structure

    Design, synthesis and molecular modeling study of substituted indoline-2- ones and spiro[indole-heterocycles] with potential activity against Gram-positive bacteria

    Longstanding and firsthand infectious diseases are challenging community health threats. A new series of isatin derivatives bearing β-hydroxy ketone, chalcone, or spiro-heterocycle moiety, was synthesized in a good yield. Chemical structures of the synthesized compounds were elucidated using spectroscopic techniques and elemental analysis. Antibacterial activities of the compounds were then evaluated in vitro and by in silico modeling. The compounds were more active against Gram-positive bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus (MIC = 0.026–0.226 mmol L–1) and Bacillus subtilis (MIC = 0.348–1.723 mmol L–1) than against Gram-negative bacteria (MIC = 0.817–7.393 mmol L–1). Only 3-hydroxy-3-(2-(2,5-dimethylthiophen-3-yl)-2-oxoethyl)indolin-2-one (1b) was found as active as imipenem against S. aureus (MIC = 0.026 mmol L–1). In silico docking of the compounds in the binding sites of a homology modeled structure of S. aureus histidine kinase-Walk allowed us to shed light on the binding mode of these novel inhibitors. The highest antibacterial activity of 1b is consistent with its highest docking score values against S. aureus histidine kinase

    THERAPEUTIC POTENTIAL AND IN VITRO ANTHELMINTIC ACTIVITY OF RIDGE GOURD FRUIT

    Objective: The objective of the study was to evaluate the therapeutic potential and in vitro anthelmintic activity of ridge gourd fruit (Luffa acutangula) against Indian earthworms. Methods: For anthelmintic activity against Indian earthworms (Pheretima posthuma, Ascaridia galli, and Raillietina spiralis), various different extracts concentration of L. acutangula fruit have been taken. Five concentrations as 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 mg/ml of various extracts were tested and results were expressed in terms of time for paralysis and time for the death of worms. Albendazole (20 mg/ml) was used as reference standard and water (0.5%) as a control group. Results: Preliminary phytochemical screening of the different extracts of ridge gourd fruit was shown to produce anthelmintic activities. In the present study, it was observed that all the extracts of ridge gourd fruit have exhibited a positive response to a certain degree of anthelmintic activity. Ethyl acetate extract exhibited more potent activity at the lower concentration of 10 mg/mL against A. galli (Roundworm). The anthelmintic activity of L. acutangula fruit extract has, therefore, been demonstrated

    The Reading Perception Of Medical Staff About The Use Of Prehospital Ultrasound

    This study was a focus on the use of pre-hospital ultrasound in Saudi Arabia. Generally, ultrasound is used in a high frequency by health care providers in different countries within hospitals or pre-hospital. The main point of using the ultrasound was to reduce the time of diagnosis at the hospital and decrease the rate of mortality and morbidity. The study was a cross-sectional study and was used to assess the perception of medical staff about the use of pre-hospital ultrasound. This survey study had 130 participants, and 80 of them were agreed to involve in this study. It was conducted in King Abdulaziz Hospital of National Guards, Al Ahsa and College of Applied Medical Sciences, King Saud Bin Abdul Aziz University for Health Sciences, Al Ahsa Campus, Saudi Arabia. ATLAST ti 8 was used for systematic literature review and SPSS v23 obviously for data analysis. This was a new and novel study as the Pre-hospital ultrasound was not used before in the pre-hospital. On the other hand, the findings showed that the participants displayed a high level of interest in improving their knowledge and skills of using ultrasound during its application in the pre-hospital setting. It was also recommended to have more research in future on the subject

    DESIGN IMPROVEMENT OF THE VERTICAL AXIS WIND TURBINE WITH APPLIED FLAPS THROUGH CFD ANALYSIS

    This research aims to optimise VAWT power generation capabilities through the design alteration of blades by the addition of flaps. The application is aimed to be applied in the United Arab Emirates, specifically at Abu Dhabi University campus in Al Ain to replace a margin of the consumed electrical energy (15%) powered by the typical nonrenewable energy means. To study the effects of design alteration, relevant design parameters on the aerodynamic properties of the wind turbine, a typical standard design with standard dimensions were considered and used as a benchmark for comparison. Two aerodynamic simulation software were adopted, namely ANSYS FLUENT and QBlade, while the designs were drawn through AutoCAD. As per the simulation results, the addition of flaps resulted in an overall increase of 3.11% in power generation. The simulation results were then scaled up using dynamic similarity to obtain a total power consumption of 6 kW for each turbine suggesting that the newly built Al Ain campus would require 43 turbines to cover 15% of the total electricity consumption in a year. The building of a control system for active pitch control was not feasible due to increased complexity

    Enhancement flame flashback resistance against CIVB and BLF in swirl burners

    Swirl combustors have proven as effective flame stabilisers over a wide range of operation conditions thanks to the formation of well-known swirl coherent structures. However, employment of swirl combustors to work on lean premixed combustion modes while introducing alternative fuels such as high hydrogen blends result in many combustion instabilities. Under these conditions, flame flashback has been considered as one of the major instability problems that have the potential of causing considerable damages of the combustion systems hardware in addition to the significant increase in pollutant levels. Combustion Induced Vortex Breakdown (CIVB) is considered a very particular mode of flashback mechanism in swirling flows as this type of flashback occurs even when the fresh mixture’s velocity is higher than the flame speed, consequence of the interaction between swirl structures and swirl burner geometries. Improvements of burner geometries and manipulation of swirl flows can produce good resistance against this type of flashback. However, increase flame flashback resistance against CIVB can lead to an increase in the propensity of another flashback mechanism, Boundary Layer Flashback (BLF). Thus this paper presents an experimental and numerical approach that allows the increase in CIVB resistance by using diffusive air injection and simultaneously avoid BLF by changing the wall boundary layer characteristics using microsurface grids as a liner for the nozzle wall. Results show that using those two techniques together has promising potentials regarding wider stable operation for swirl combustors, enabling them to burn a great variety of fuel blends safely

    Application of NMI-TfCl-mediated amide bond formation in the synthesis of biologically relevant oxadiazole derivatives employing less basic (hetero)aryl amines

    We herein report a modified methodology for the synthesis of some oxadiazoles linked to amides under mild conditions. The developed protocol using NMI-TfCl has been found to be effective and tolerant for the amide bond formation reaction of a series of electronically deactivating and sterically challenging amines.
