Second harmonic Hamiltonian: Algebraic and Schrödinger approaches
We study in detail the behavior of the energy spectrum for the second harmonic generation (SHG) and a family of corresponding quasi-exactly solvable Schrödinger potentials labeled by a real parameter b. The eigenvalues of this system are obtained by the polynomial deformation of the Lie algebra representation space. We have found the bi-confluent Heun equation (BHE) corresponding to this system in a differential realization approach, by making use of the symmetries. By means of a b-transformation from this second-order equation to a Schrödinger one, we have found a family of quasi-exactly solvable potentials. For each invariant n-dimensional subspace of the second harmonic generation, there are either n potentials, each with one known solution, or one potential with n-known solutions. Well-known potentials like a sextic oscillator or that of a quantum dot appear among them
A Novel Thyristor-Based CSI Topology With Multilevel Current Waveform for Improved Drive Performance
Load-commutated inverters (LCIs), combined with wound-field synchronous machines (WFSMs), can be an excellent solution for high power drives, but their present technology suffers from important drawbacks related to low power factor, large torque pulsations, and poor starting performance. This paper presents a new LCI design intended to overcome the mentioned limitations. An SCR-based forced-commutation circuit is added to the common inverter topology to obtain a five-level waveform for the stator current. This leads to significantly reduced current harmonics and torque pulsations, in addition to bringing benefits in terms of lower additional losses. As a further advantage, the proposed design allows for a significant power factor enhancement. Finally, it enables the WFSM to be started with a much smoother torque compared to the traditional pulsed operating mode of conventional LCI drives. Simulation studies are conducted on a high-power drive scheme to show the aforementioned improvements. Also, a reduced-scale laboratory prototype of a WFSM drive system is tested to verify the feasibility of the proposed converter
The relationship between body image and marital adjustment in infertile women
Introduction: Body image is one of the most important issues in women's mental health and due to its relationship with physical, cognitive and emotional aspects of women’s life; it can predict their healthy or unhealthy behaviors. According to some research reports, women’s negative or positive body image can affect their marital relationships. Considering the impact of infertility on both body image and marital adjustment and the lack of evidence regarding the relationship of these two variables in infertility, this study aimed to investigate the relationship of body image with marital adjustment in infertile women in 2010 in Mashhad. Methods: This correlational study was carried out on 130 infertile women referred to Montaserie Infertility Research Center in Mashhad who were selected through convenient sampling. Research tools were consisted of valid and reliable demographic questionnaire including personal and infertility-related information, modified Younesi Body Image Questionnaire and Spanier marital adjustment scale (DAS) which were completed by subjects. Data analysis was carried out by SPSS software (version 15/5) using t-tests, one way ANOVA, and Spearman and Pearson correlation test. Results: 93/1% of women reported positive body image and 76/9% had high marital adjustment. There was a direct correlation between the overall score of body image with marital adjustment (P<0/001). There was also a direct correlation between the scores of body image subscales including body in loneliness (P= 0/001), real body (P=0/014), public image of body (P=0/016), spouse image of body (P<0/001) and spouse family image of body (P<0/001) with marital adjustment. However, this relationship was not observed between the subscale of ideal body and marital adjustment. Conclusion: The presence of a direct correlation between body image and marital adjustment could guide developing educational or counseling programs particularly for infertile women who suffer from marital disputes. Dysplasia epiphysealis hemimelica of the radial head: a rare case report
Background: Dysplasia epiphysealis hemimelica (DEH) is a rare benign overgrowth generally affecting the epiphyses and short bones of the lower limbs. DEH in the elbow joint is extremely rare, and to date, only three cases of DEH have been reported in the radial head. Case presentation: In this study, we report a case of DEH located in the radial head of the right elbow of a 10-year-old boy, which was presented with elbow pain and limited range of motion. In clinical examination, an asymmetrical enlargement was observed over the elbow. The lesion was resected surgically, and the patients symptoms resolved afterward. The histologic analysis of the lesion confirmed the diagnosis of DEH. Conclusion: This report highlights the role of DEH in the differential diagnosis of elbow pathologies, particularly its differentiation from osteochondroma. © 2021, The Author(s)
The effect of a parental education program on the mental health of parents and behavioral problems of their children with autism spectrum disorder
Objectives Early interventions can play an important role in alleviating or eliminating many of the major symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and enhancing new skills. Parental education can reduce the parents depression and stress and increase their empowerment. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of a parental education program the mental health of parents, behavioral problems of their children with ASD. Methods A group of 30 parents of children with ASD in Tehran, Iran were selected by a convenience sampling and were randomly divided into intervention and control groups. The parents in the intervention group received psychoeducational program according to Tonge et al.s (2006) method in 10 sessions each for 90 min in Tehran Psychiatric Institute. Data collection tools were the Family Assessment Device, the Childhood Autism Rating Scale, Billings and Mouses Coping Strategies Scale, and 28-item General Health Questionnaire. All participants were evaluated at three stages of pretest, posttest, and 3-month follow-up. Results The effect of parental education program on the clinical symptoms and its dimensions was significant at three measurement phases. In the 3-month follow-up duration, the results remained unchanged. There were a significant difference between the two study groups in general health, family function, coping strategies, and child behavior (F=4.859, P=0.023). Conclusion Parental education can improve the mental health of parents and reduce the behavioral problems of their ASD children. © 2020, Iran University of Medical Sciences. All rights reserved
Dietary intake and lifestyle behavior in different phenotypes of polycystic ovarian syndrome: a case-control study
Objective: To compare dietary intake and lifestyle behaviour in women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and healthy women.
Methods: 160 healthy women (partner with male infertility) were recruited to a control group; 168 women with PCOS (diagnosed on ultrasound) were recruited to a case study group for this cross-sectional comparative study. The case group was classified into three phenotypes based on presence or absence of menstrual disorder (M), hyperandrogenism (HA), and polycystic ovary according to sonography (PCO): HA+PCO (n=53), PCO+M (n=57) and M+HA+PCO (n=66). Dietary intake and lifestyle behaviour were measured using a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) and a lifestyle questionnaire (LQ).
Results: The mean energy (P<0.001) and fat intake (P<0.001) were greater in PCOS groups compared with the control group. The average energy and fat intake were greater in HA+M+PCO group after age and BMI adjustment compared with other phenotypes (P<0.001). In comparison with the control group, lifestyle scores were lower in the PCOS group in the fields of physical activity, weight and nutrition control after age and BMI adjustment (P<0.001). The average score of lifestyle in the fields of physical activity, weight and nutrition control, and psychological health was lower in the phenotype HA+M+PCO compared with other phenotypes (P<0.001).
Conclusions: Limited energy and fat intake is strongly recommended in Iranian women with PCOS especially in phenotype HA+M+PCO. Consultation on improvement of psychological health and the importance of weight and nutrition control, and appropriate physical activity in patients especially in HA+M+PCO is advocated.
