Fine structure of the 0.7 MeV resonance in the 230Th neutron--induced cross section
The fine structure of the 0.7 MeV resonance in the 230Th neutron-induced
cross section is investigated within the hybrid model. A very good agreement
with experimental data is obtained. It is suggested that fine structure of the
cross section quantify the changes of the intrinsic states of the nucleus
during the disintegration process.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figure
Threshold Resonant Structure of the 232Th Neutron-Induced Fission Cross Section
The structures observed in the sub-threshold neutron-induced fission of
^{232}Th were investigated employing a recent developed model. Theoretical
single-particle excitations of a phenomenological two-humped barrier are
determined by solving a system of coupled differential equations for the motion
along the optimal fission path. A rather good agreement with experimental data
was obtained using a small number of independent parameters. It is predicted
that the structure at 1.4 and 1.6 MeV is mainly dominated by spin 3/2 partial
cross-section with small admixture of spin 1/2, while the structure at 1.7 MeV
is given by a large partial cross section of spin 5/2.Comment: 17 pages 11 figure
Fine structure of alpha decay in odd nuclei
Using an alpha decay level scheme, an explanation for the fine structure in
odd nuclei is evidenced by taking into account the radial and rotational
couplings between the unpaired nucleon and the core of the decaying system. It
is stated that the experimental behavior of the alpha decay fine structure

Mandatory multidisciplinary approach for the evaluation of the lymph node status in rectal cancer
Colorectal cancer is the third most frequently reported malignancy and also the third leading cancer-related cause of death worldwide. Lymph node evaluation, both preoperatively and postoperatively, represents an important aspect of the diagnosis and therapeutic strategy in colorectal cancer, such that an accurate preoperative staging is required for a correct therapeutic strategy. Treatment of rectal cancer with positive lymph nodes, a very important predictive prognostic parameter, is currently based on neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy followed by total/ surgical mesorectal excision and adjuvant regimen.
Preoperative evaluation of the lymph node status in rectal cancer is based on endoscopic ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging, but their accuracy, specificity, and sensitivity still require improvement. Postoperative evaluation also presents points of debate, especially related to the role of sentinel lymph node mapping and their final implication, represented by detection of micrometastases and isolated tumor cells. The pathologic interpretation of tumor deposits represents other points in discussion. From a surgical perspective, extended lateral lymph node dissection vs. abstinence and (neo)adjuvant therapeutic approach represent another unresolved issue.
This review presents the major controversies existing today in the treatment and pathologic interpretation of the lymph nodes in rectal cancer, the role/ indication and value of the lateral pelvic lymph node dissection, and the postoperative interpretation of the value of the micrometastatic disease and tumor deposits

Report of the GDR working group on the R-parity violation
This report summarizes the work of the "R-parity violation group" of the
French Research Network (GDR) in Supersymmetry, concerning the physics of
supersymmetric models without conservation of R-parity at HERA, LEP, Tevatron
and LHC and limits on R-parity violating couplings from various processes. The
report includes a discussion of the recent searches at the HERA experiment,
prospects for new experiments, a review of the existing limits, and also
theoretically motivated alternatives to R-parity and a brief discussion on the

Optoelectronic and stability properties of quasi-2D alkylammonium based perovskites
Electronic and stability properties of quasi-2D alkylammonium perovskites are
investigated using density functional theory (DFT) calculations and validated
experimentally on selected classes of compounds. Our analysis is focused on
perovskite structures of formula (A)(A)PbX, with
large cations A = butyl-, pentyl-, hexylammonium (BA, PA, HXA), small cations
A = methylammonium, formamidinium, ethylammonium, guanidinium (MA,FA,EA,GA)
and halogens X = I, Br, Cl. The role of the halogen ions is outlined for the
band structure, stability and defect formation energies. Two opposing trends
are found for the absorption efficiency versus stability, the latter being
assessed with respect to possible degradation mechanisms. Experimental
validation is performed on quasi-2D perovskites based on pentylammonium
cations, namely: (PA)PbX and (PA)(MA)PbX, synthesized by
antisolvent-assisted vapor crystallization. Structural and optical analysis are
inline with the DFT based calculations. In addition, the thermogravimetric
analysis shows an enhanced stability of bromide and chloride based compounds,
in agreement with the theoretical predictions.Comment: 8 pages, 8 figure

Carbon nanotube forests as top electrode in electroacoustic resonators
We grow carbon nanotube forests on piezoelectric AlN films and fabricate and characterize nanotube-based solidly mounted bulk acoustic wave resonators employing the forests as the top electrode material. The devices show values for quality factor at anti-resonance of ∼430, and at resonance of ∼100. The effective coupling coefficient is of ∼6%, and the resonant frequencies are up to ∼800 MHz above those observed with metallic top electrodes. AlN promotes a strong catalyst-support interaction, which reduces Fe catalyst mobility, and thus enforces the growth of forests by the base growth mechanism.This work was partially supported by the European Commission through the project GRAFOL and the COST action IC1208 and by the Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad del Gobierno de España through project MAT2013-45957.This is the accepted manuscript. 238U(n, γ) reaction cross section measurement with C 6D6 detectors at the n-TOF CERN facility
