Compositional analysis of soybean event IND-ØØ41Ø-5

Soybean (Glycine max L.) is the world’s largest source of protein feed and the second largest source of vegetable oil. Water restriction is the main limiting factor to achieve maximum soybean yields. Therefore, development of varieties that maintain yield under environmental stresses is a major objective of soybean breeding programs. The HaHB4 (Helianthus annuus homeobox 4) gene from sunflower encodes for a transcription factor involved in the plant´s tolerance to environmental stress. The introduction of HaHB4 in soybean led to the development of event IND-ØØ41Ø-5 (HB4® soybean), which displayed higher yield in environments having low productivity potential, compared with the parental control variety. Compositional analyses of soybean event IND-ØØ41Ø-5 were conducted both in Argentina and the United Sates. A total of 44 components were analyzed in grain and 9 components in forage. Based on the results of these studies it was concluded that soybean event IND-ØØ41Ø-5 was compositionally equivalent to its non-transgenic parental control.Fil: Chiozza, Mariana V.. The Cosmology of Dark Energy Radiation

In this work, we quantify the cosmological signatures of dark energy radiation -- a novel description of dark energy, which proposes that the dynamical component of dark energy is comprised of a thermal bath of relativistic particles sourced by thermal friction from a slowly rolling scalar field. For a minimal model with particle production emerging from first principles, we find that the abundance of radiation sourced by dark energy can be as large as $\Omega_{\text{DER}} = 0.03$, exceeding the bounds on relic dark radiation by three orders of magnitude. Although the background and perturbative evolution of dark energy radiation is distinct from Quintessence, we find that current and near-future cosmic microwave background and supernova data will not distinguish these models of dark energy. We also find that our constraints on all models are dominated by their impact on the expansion rate of the Universe. Considering extensions that allow the dark radiation to populate neutrinos, axions, and dark photons, we evaluate the direct detection prospects of a thermal background comprised of these candidates consistent with cosmological constraints on dark energy radiation. Our study indicates that a resolution of $\sim 6 \, \text{meV}$ is required to achieve sensitivity to relativistic neutrinos compatible with dark energy radiation in a neutrino capture experiment on tritium. We also find that dark matter axion experiments lack sensitivity to a relativistic thermal axion background, even if enhanced by dark energy radiation, and dedicated search strategies are required to probe new parameter space. We derive constraints arising from a dark photon background from oscillations into visible photons, and find that several orders of magnitude of viable parameter space can be explored with planned experimental programs such as DM Radio and LADERA.Comment: 27 pages, 16 figures, 3 table

Retratos de Susana: do texto à pintura

From the notion about "what is Beauty", it is proposed to discuss a problematic theme that is the female harassment in the history of art and the ancient texts. Taking the story of Susana attributed to the prophet Daniel, is noticed that a profusion of plastic versions of this narrative, which usually represent a naked woman terrified by the male gaze, that violates and gets in the scene of what should be a quiet bath. The corpus analyzed comes from the text to the painting, with the main focus being the italian artist Artemisia Gentileschi (1593-1651/53), who points to important reflections of the contemporary context regarding the feminine view, being the same passage portrayed by several artists at different times. The aim is to contribute to the studies that think about the female authorship and the interference on the point of view, besides the relations between text, image and historical context.A partir da noção sobre “o que é Belo”, propõe-se discutir um tema problemático que é a violação feminina na história da arte e dos textos antigos. Tomando a história de Susana atribuída ao profeta Daniel, percebe-se uma profusão de versões plásticas dessa narrativa, que geralmente representam uma mulher nua aterrorizada pelo olhar masculino, que viola e adentra a cena do que deveria ser um tranquilo banho. O corpus analisado parte do texto para a pintura, tendo como principal foco a artista italiana Artemisia Gentileschi (1593-1651/53), que aponta para importantes reflexões do contexto contemporâneo no que se refere à visão feminina, sendo a mesma passagem retratada por diversos artistas homens em diferentes épocas. Pretende-se assim contribuir para os estudos que pensam a autoria feminina e a interferência sobre o ponto de vista, além das relações entre texto, imagem e contexto histórico

Nan Goldin: da Fotografia do Cotidiano à Visibilidade Drag Queen

Este trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar a biografia da fotógrafa americana Nan Goldin, a partir do recorte de sua produção datada entre as décadas de 1970 e 1990, em que ela fotografou a comunidade drag queen. A partir do cruzamento de informações vigentes em documentário (Série, 2004) e fontes relevantes (Guggenheim Museum, EUA; The Guardian, UK) a quem a fotógrafa concedeu entrevistas ou foi notícia, procura-se explorar nesse texto a importância de uma produção que se insere no âmbito de questões caras ao contexto contemporâneo, que é a temática de gênero. Com a perspectiva teórica adotada, baseada principalmente nos apontamentos de Barthes (1984), é possível compreender o corpus analisado como resultante de um olhar sensível para o aspecto humano, com impacto para a discussão e aceitação do grupo social

Dengue GIS : construção de uma aplicação SIG Web com ferramentas de software livre para o monitoramento dos casos da dengue na cidade de Pedras de Fogo – PB

As diversas tecnologias se tornaram parte do cotidiano da grande maioria das pessoas, entre elas as geotecnologias, utilizando o geoprocessamento para o tratamento de dados geoespaciais. Com o surgimento dos Sistemas de Informação Geográficas (SIGs), possibilitou através dos SIGs Web, a propagação de informações geoespaciais, temos como exemplo o popular Google Maps. Desse modo, a informação geoespacial pode ser utilizada para solucionar diversos tipos de problemas socioambientais, sejam eles no campo da mobilidade urbana, no monitoramento de desmatamento e até mesmo epidemiológico, auxiliando nas tomadas de decisões, como é o caso do vírus da dengue, problema de saúde pública que acomete diversos países em todo o mundo. O trabalho teve o objetivo de criar uma aplicação SIG Web para o monitoramento dos casos da dengue na cidade de Pedras de Fogo-PB, servindo como ferramenta de ações da Vigilância Sanitária e Epidemiológica local, na obtenção de uma melhor visão acerca da dispersão do fenômeno na cidade. Metodologicamente, a criação do SIG web voltada ao local estudado, contou com três etapas: coleta dos dados, tratamento dos dados, disponibilização dos dados. A princípio era pretendido coletar os casos reportados no ano de 2019, porém houve um possível problema de subnotificação dos casos de dengue dentro do sistema de saúde do município. Pois, durante todo o ano de 2019 só foram notificados no sistema 8 casos. Então, foi necessário aumentar o intervalo de tempo a ser estudado, mudando para o período de maio de 2018 até junho de 2020, mas infelizmente permaneceu o possível problema de subnotificação, totalizando 18 notificações durante todo o período citado. Para a construção da aplicação como um todo, foram utilizadas as seguintes ferramentas durante as etapas metodológicas: QGIS versão 3.10.10, Geoserver versão 2.14.3, Mapbender versão 3.0.8.6 e Google Planilhas. O SIG Web forneceu a visualização de mapas e as estatísticas espaciais relacionadas aos casos de dengue reportados. Como resultado detectou-se subnotificações dos casos reportadas no município, ilustrando bem a precariedade das bases de dados do país, sobretudo em cidades interioranas, servindo de alerta para correção do problema por parte dos órgãos públicos. Verificou-se ainda o diferencial entre os bairros urbanos mais afetados pelo Aedes aegypti, comparando-se, também, com o menor número de casos no espaço rural do município, justamente porque são áreas mais antropizadas

Growth and Geometry Split in Light of the DES-Y3 Survey

We test the smooth dark energy paradigm using Dark Energy Survey (DES) Year 1 and Year 3 weak lensing and galaxy clustering data. Within the $\Lambda$CDM and $w$CDM model we separate the expansion and structure growth history by splitting $\Omega_\mathrm{m}$ (and $w$) into two meta-parameters that allow for different evolution of growth and geometry in the Universe. We consider three different combinations of priors on geometry from CMB, SNIa, BAO, BBN that differ in constraining power but have been designed such that the growth information comes solely from the DES weak lensing and galaxy clustering. For the DES-Y1 data we find no detectable tension between growth and geometry meta-parameters in both the $\Lambda$CDM and $w$CDM parameter space. This statement also holds for DES-Y3 cosmic shear and 3x2pt analyses. For the combination of DES-Y3 galaxy-galaxy lensing and galaxy clustering (2x2pt) we measure a tension between our growth and geometry meta-parameters of 2.6$\sigma$ in the $\Lambda$CDM and 4.48$\sigma$ in the $w$CDM model space, respectively. We attribute this tension to residual systematics in the DES-Y3 RedMagic galaxy sample rather than to new physics. Promising Practices and Unfinished Business: Fostering Equity and Excellence for Black and Latino Males

Boston Public Schools (BPS) commissioned companion studies as part of its efforts to address achievement gaps for Black and Latino males. The first study revealed the increasing diversity of Black and Latino males and stark opportunity gaps throughout the system that contribute in large part to wide attainment gaps for these students. We hypothesized that in schools doing comparatively better with Black or Latino males than their counterparts, educators would be strategically and comprehensively implementing evidence-based cultural, structural, and instructional practices tailored to meet their the needs and aspirations of these students. Through qualitative case studies of four schools, we identified several cross-cutting themes that provide the district and school leaders with some positive news about effective practices found in all good schools: strong school cultures, professional collaboration, differentiated instruction, and, in the elementary schools, family engagement. While we observed pockets of best practices specific to Black and Latino male education, we also brought to light unfinished business, in that none of the four case study schools had an intentional and comprehensive schoolwide approach to educating Black and Latino males. This lack of intentionality resulted in a paucity of evidence that the school administration and faculty as a whole: (a) know and value students' cultural and linguistic backgrounds; (b) adopt explicit and responsive approaches to race and gender; and (c) develop and implement a comprehensive approach to culturally responsive curriculum and instruction. We posit that lack of knowledge, intentionality, and coherence impedes further progress in educating Black and Latino males, and has implications for educators in schools, for staff members in community partner organizations, and for family members of BPS students

BANCO MUNDIAL E UNICEF NA DISCUSSÃO DA POLÍTICA GLOBAL DE EDUCAÇÃO: COMO ESSAS ORGANIZAÇÕES INTERNACIONAIS CONQUISTARAM RELEVÂNCIA NO DEBATE EDUCACIONAL?

This article aims to assess the influence of the World Bank and the UNICEF in promoting a global education policy. Constructivism (Finnermore, 1996) as a theoretical basis has enabled to evaluate how international actors transform interests and generate norms, influencing the behaviour of national States. The World Bank, through credit offers, has expanded its influence on countries’ political decisions and has institutionalised its political, economic, social, and intellectual agenda for them. UNICEF has played an important humanitarian role in the development and promotion of children's and women's rights, the operational effectiveness of its activities is questioned. The purpose of education for World Bank is technical: education should train practical value skills with economic value; whilst the purpose of education for UNICEF is cultural: it should awake identity and character with political value.O objetivo do artigo é avaliar a influência do Banco Mundial e do UNICEF na promoção de uma política global de educação. O construtivismo (Finnemore, 1996) como base teórica permitiu avaliar como atores internacionais transformam interesses e geram normas, influenciando o comportamento dos Estados nacionais. É debatida a dimensão supranacional em que regras de políticas educacionais atuam para além das relações entre Estados. O Banco Mundial, via oferta de crédito, ampliou sua influência nas decisões políticas dos países e institucionalizou sua agenda política, econômica, social e intelectual para os mesmos. O UNICEF desenvolveu importante papel humanitário no desenvolvimento e promoção dos direitos das crianças e das mulheres, mas questiona-se a eficácia operacional de suas atividades. O propósito da educação para o Banco Mundial é técnica: treinar habilidades de valor prático com valor econômico, enquanto para o UNICEF, o propósito é cultural: despertar a identidade e o caráter com valor político

Advocacia preventiva e compliance no cenário empresarial brasileiro

The present work seeks to demonstrate the importance of preventive advocacy in companies to prevent conflicts that could be harmful to their functioning. The study is relevant to professionals with legal knowledge prior to the emergence of the problem, as they are able to deduce the best alternatives for solving the conflict. Another main objective is also to identify how Compliance (verb in English “to comply”, which means to comply, satisfy or perform an imposed action) rules and dictates can minimize corporate illicit acts and strengthen corporate instruments in decision-making, through the use of the deductive method centered on bibliographical research, establishing a theoretical approach in the strict sense. For this purpose, works related to authors from other areas of knowledge will be studied, such as: Administration areas; Business Law; Civil right; Civil Procedural Law; among others, since the theme needs an interdisciplinary approach, seeking a broader debate in its initial elaboration until reaching a particular debate.  O presente trabalho busca demostrar a importância da advocacia preventiva nas empresas para impedir que ocorram conflitos que possam ser prejudiciais ao funcionamento destas. O estudo é relevante aos profissionais com conhecimento jurídico antecedente ao surgimento do problema, pois estes são capazes de deduzir as melhores alternativas de solução do conflito, e também identificar como as normas e ditames de Compliance (verbo em inglês “to comply”, que significa cumprir, satisfazer ou realizar uma ação imposta) podem minimizar os atos ilícitos empresariais e fortalecer os instrumentos corporativos na tomada de decisão, através da utilização do método dedutivo centrado na pesquisa bibliográfica, estabelecendo uma abordagem teórica em sentido estrito. Para esse desiderato, serão estudadas obras relativas a autores de outras áreas do conhecimento, tais como: áreas de Administração; Direito Empresarial; Direito Civil; Direito Processual Civil; entre outros, visto que o tema necessita de uma abordagem interdisciplinar, buscando um debate mais amplo na sua elaboração inicial até chegar a um debate particular
