Globalization is the main trend for all the companies, which provides a good opportunity for companies to involve in the global market competition. Cross-border merger and acquisition (M&A) becomes one of the popular methods of foreign direct investment (FDI). China’s financial market has a great development especially in recent 10 years. Many Chinese companies grow fast and become stronger in the domestic market in these 10 years, so that more and more companies would like to involve in the overseas transactions to seek the new market. In the banking industry, although many Chinese banks begin to operate the cross-border M&A transactions, due to the limited experience and knowledge they are still freshmen in the global market. Generally, the main reason for companies to operate the M&A deals is to enhance shareholders’ wealth and promote companies’ development. By focusing on Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC)’s cross-border M&A deal, this dissertation will providing both academic and analytical views on both financial and non-financial side of M&A in banking industry. And based on the analysis of ICBC’s performance before and after the deal, some key issues of actuality and the trends of Chinese banks’ cross-border M&A activities would be discussed

CP3: Unifying Point Cloud Completion by Pretrain-Prompt-Predict Paradigm

Point cloud completion aims to predict complete shape from its partial observation. Current approaches mainly consist of generation and refinement stages in a coarse-to-fine style. However, the generation stage often lacks robustness to tackle different incomplete variations, while the refinement stage blindly recovers point clouds without the semantic awareness. To tackle these challenges, we unify point cloud Completion by a generic Pretrain-Prompt-Predict paradigm, namely CP3. Inspired by prompting approaches from NLP, we creatively reinterpret point cloud generation and refinement as the prompting and predicting stages, respectively. Then, we introduce a concise self-supervised pretraining stage before prompting. It can effectively increase robustness of point cloud generation, by an Incompletion-Of-Incompletion (IOI) pretext task. Moreover, we develop a novel Semantic Conditional Refinement (SCR) network at the predicting stage. It can discriminatively modulate multi-scale refinement with the guidance of semantics. Finally, extensive experiments demonstrate that our CP3 outperforms the state-of-the-art methods with a large margin

Explaining Consumers’ Intention to Use Omni-channel Shopping

Retail businesses are increasingly merging online and offline channels into integrated omni-channel services. However, without an in-depth understanding of why consumers oscillate between online and offline channels, the future of omni-channel retailing remains uncertain. This paper aims to promote a greater understanding of the demand and supply side factors that contribute to omni-channel use. We developed a research model drawing from UTAUT2 and the security, inconsistency, and service quality attributes of omni-channel contexts. We tested both the direct and moderated effects of the constructs on the intention to use omni-channel shopping services with a sample of 362 Chinese survey participants. The results show that besides UTAUT2 variables, perceived inconsistency, and perceived service quality show significant effects on consumers’ intention to use omni-channel services. Furthermore, our results show that age, gender, and online shopping frequency moderate the relationship between perceived service quality and use intention

Neutralization reaction in synthesis of carbon materials for supercapacitors

Abstract(#br)We have prepared nitrogen and oxygen enriched hierarchically porous carbon (NOHPC) based on a concept of neutralization reaction. The reactant of KOH and the reaction product of KCl mixed in soybean flour acts as chemical activators and porogens during carbonization, which play different roles to produce the hierarchical porous structure containing macropores, mesopores and micropores. After the investigation of the effect of the reaction pH and carbonization temperature on the structure, the optimized NOHPC with reaction pH at 11.5 and carbonization temperature at 900 °C has a large area (2404.3 m 2 g −1 ), with a high pore volume of 1.31 cm 3 g −1 , a nitrogen content (0.42%) and an oxygen content (32.1%). When assembling supercapacitors, NOHPC has a extremely large specific capacitance (381 F g −1 at 1 A g −1 ) and large energy density (20.78–15.42 Wh kg −1 ), and possesses good rate performance. Particularly, the symmetric supercapacitor assembled based on NOHPC-900-11.5 has a good cycle stability in the voltage range of 0–1.8 V in a two-electrode system with 1 M Na 2 SO 4 as the electrolyte. It is worth noting that when Tetraethylazanium tetrafluoroborate (TEATFB) in propylene carbonate and 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis[(trifluoromethyl)sulfonyl]imide (EMIMNTF 2 ) are selected as electrolyte, high energy densities of 31.4 Wh kg −1 and 71.6 Wh kg −1 are achieved. The above results indicate that NOHPC prepared based on neutralization reaction is superior energy storage materials. This work has universal significance in producing high performance porous carbons from biomass

Towards efficient photoinduced charge separation in carbon nanodots and TiO 2

In this work, photoinduced charge separation behaviors in non-long-chain-molecule-functionalized carbon nanodots (CDs) with visible intrinsic absorption (CDs-V) and TiO2 composites were investigated. Efficient photoinduced electron injection from CDs-V to TiO2 with a rate of 8.8 × 108 s−1 and efficiency of 91% was achieved in the CDs-V/TiO2 composites. The CDs-V/TiO2 composites exhibited excellent photocatalytic activity under visible light irradiation, superior to pure TiO2 and the CDs with the main absorption band in the ultraviolet region and TiO2 composites, which indicated that visible photoinduced electrons and holes in such CDs-V/TiO2 composites could be effectively separated. The incident photon-to-current conversion efficiency (IPCE) results for the CD-sensitized TiO2 solar cells also agreed with efficient photoinduced charge separation between CDs-V and the TiO2 electrode in the visible range. These results demonstrate that non-long-chain-molecule-functionlized CDs with a visible intrinsic absorption band could be appropriate candidates for photosensitizers and offer a new possibility for the development of a well performing CD-based photovoltaic system

The Impact of Self-awareness of Being Observed on Patient Content Generation: An Empirical Examination from a Quasi Experiment

Though recent research demonstrates the impact of patient generated content on patient outcomes and doctor performance, we still have a limited understanding about how patient content is generated in the first place. In this research, we examine how patients’ self-awareness of being observed by their own doctors in online healthcare platform influences patient generated content, including how much they generate and what they generate. Focusing on a leading online healthcare platform, we construct a panel dataset of patient generated content for a matched set of doctors. We find that patients’ self-awareness of being observed can increase the quantity of patient generated content. Specially, “being observed” leads to more subjective content, while it has no relationship with objective content. Our results also demonstrate that the mechanism of “being observed” benefits the review quantity at the cost of review quality. We also discuss contributions to user generated content and online healthcare
