    Perceived Leadership Style, Gender, and Job Satisfaction in County Jail Correctional Officers

    There is a considerable amount of research demonstrating important gender differences in job satisfaction and perceived leadership style. These critical relationships have not been sufficiently explored in correctional institutions, particularly as more women are entering corrections officer positions, and low job satisfaction can lead to risky and sometimes life-threatening consequences. The purpose of this ex post facto study was to investigate the relationship between correctional officers\u27 job satisfaction and their perception of transformational leadership style in their supervisor and to explore how the interaction between leadership style and gender affects job satisfaction. The theoretical framework of transformational leadership was used to examine the hypothesis that transformational leadership would foster overall job satisfaction. Data were collected from 86 participants from a population of 180 county jail correctional officers using the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire for leadership and the Job Diagnostic Survey for job satisfaction. A 2 x 2 ANOVA (male vs. female and transformational leadership vs. transactional leadership) was conducted. While the results were statistically non-significant, mean differences among the groups revealed an interaction effect, suggesting that women with a transformational leader have higher job satisfaction than do those with a transactional leader, while men with transactional leaders are more satisfied than are those with transformational leaders. It is suggested that future research utilize more rigorous sampling methods (e.g., stratified and cluster) to explore this potential interaction, and include qualitative interviews with officers to gain deeper insights into the meaning of leadership in the performance of these important, risk-filled jobs

    Stimulated Brillouin scattering modeling for high-resolution, time-domain distributed sensing.

    Starting from the standard three-wave SBS coupled equations, we derive a novel expression describing Brillouin interaction between a pulsed pump wave with a finite cw component, and a Stokes continuous wave counter-propagating along a single-mode optical fiber. The derived integral equation relates the time-domain Stokes beam amplification to the Brillouin frequency distribution. The proposed model permits an accurate description of the Brillouin interaction even for arbitrarily-shaped pump pulses, and can be efficiently employed for improving the accuracy and the resolution of SBS-based distributed sensors. The validity and the limits of the proposed model are numerically analyzed and discussed

    Perbandingan Perubahan Warna Resin Komposit Nanofiller dan Nanohybrid Setelah Perendaman Pada Susu Fermentasi

    This research was to determine the difference in the ratio of the color change of the nanofiller and nanohybrid composite resins after immersion in fermented milk. This study used nanofiller and nanohybrid composite resins in the form of tablets with a diameter of 10 mm and a thickness of 2 mm. 32 samples were divided into 2 groups, namely the nanofiller resin group and the nanohybrid resin group soaked in fermented milk for 7 days. The discoloration of nanofiller and nanohybrid composite resins was measured using a chromameter before and after immersion. The results of statistical analysis of the independent t-test showed that there was a difference between the color of the nanofiller resin and the nanohybrid, namely p = 0.015. The results of the analysis also showed a change in color between the nanofiller and nanohybrid composite resins before and after soaking the fermented milk for 7 days, namely p = 0.023 and p = 0.000. The conclusion of this study is that there are differences in the color change of nanofiller and nanohybrid composite resins in fermented milk immersion

    Latar Belakang: Penderita Tuberkulosis dengan status Basil Tahan Asam (BTA) positif dapat menularkan ke 10-15 orang lain setiap tahunnya, sehingga penemuan kasus penting dilaksanakan. Cakupan penemuan kasus tuberkulosis dengan BTA positif di Kabupaten Semarang tahun 2009 jauh di bawah cakupan nasional. Rendahnya disebabkan karena motivasi petugas yang kurang. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis faktor yang dapat menurunkan motivasi petugas TB dalam penemuan kasus di Kabupaten Semarang. Metode Penelitian: Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode kualitatif. Pengumpulan data primer dilakukan dengan wawancara mendalam, dan data sekunder dengan telaah dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian adalah petugas Tuberkulosis Paru di Puskesmas. Pemilihan subjek dilakukan secara purposive. Informan utama berjumlah 18 orang, terdiri dari 6orang perawat, 6 orang Analis dan 6 orang dokter kepala Puskesmas. Informan triangulasi adalah 6 orang petugas BP, dan satu orang Kasie P2M Dinkes Kabupaten Semarang. Analisis data dilakukan dengan content analysis.  Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa motivasi petugas rendah karena pekerjaannya merupakan penunjukkan pimpinan Puskesmas dan membutuhkan waktu yang lama serta berisiko tertular oleh penderita. Tanggung jawab dalam menyelesaikan pekerjaan kurang karena beban pekerjaan yang banyak, bekerja tanpa target dan motivasi. Petugas tidak mendapatkan kompensasi, membutuhkan dukungan dari pimpinan untuk mengeluarkan ide dan gagasan dalam penemuan kasus. Sarana transportasi untuk penemuan kasus tidak ada. Puskemas tidak memiliki rencana implementasi kebijakan program penemuan kasus, dan sistem supervisi terhadap cakupan penemuan kasus belum optimal. Kesimpulan: Disimpulkan bahwa motivasi petugas Tuberculosis Paru dalam penemuan kasus masih rendah, karena belum ada dukungan dan tanggung jawab masih kurang serta sistem kompensasi dan supervisi yang belum ada

    Women and municipal work: Maids of the Ramón Santamarina Hospital of Tandil, and the demand for their career (1999-2004)

    La demanda por la carrera laboral de las mucamas del Hospital municipal Ramón Santamarina de la ciudad de Tandil, reclamo que se extendió entre los años 1999 y 2004, es analizada en este trabajo, aproximación que busca indagar sobre las características de la organización del trabajo de este agrupamiento laboral que se encuadra en el sector de servicios del empleo público municipal. Este trabajo muestra cómo a partir de este reclamo gremial, las trabajadoras lograron, aunque sin proponérselo explícitamente, contestar o poner en tensión las definiciones estatales que entienden a estos trabajos como “no calificados”, noción que redunda en la desvalorización social y económica de las tareas de las mucamas en este espacio de trabajo altamente profesionalizado y jerárquico. El presente análisis se funda en cuatro entrevistas realizadas a trabajadoras mucamas, dirigentes sindicales y a la delegada de las mucamas en aquel contexto, como así también en documentos sindicales, como el mensuario del Sindicato de Municipales, y estatales como decretos del Poder Ejecutivo local, ordenanzas del Concejo Deliberante de la ciudad de Tandil y material del curso de formación profesional para mucama/ o para establecimientos de salud aprobado por la Dirección General de Cultura y Educación de la Provincia de Buenos en el año 2009.The demand for the career of the maids at the Ramón Santamarina Municipal Hospital in the city of Tandil, a claim that lasted between 1999 and 2004, is analyzed in this work, an approach that seeks to investigate the characteristics of the organization of the work of This labor group that falls within the municipal public employment services sector.     Development is an increase in abilities (skills) in more complex body structures and functions in a regular and predictable pattern, as a result of the maturation process. The purpose of this activity is to provide an overview of the detection of child development through training. The method used is to provide KPSP training (Pre-Development Screening Questionnaire) to teachers at Nurul Izzah Kindergarten in order to detect the development of students according to their age. The result of this activity is that 100% of teachers participate in developmental detection training using KPSP and the development of students who are carried out for developmental detection is in accordance with their age(100%).ABSTRAKPerkembangan merupakan bertambahnya kemampuan (skill) dalam struktur dan fungsi tubuh yang lebih kompleks dalam pola yang teratur dan dapat diramalkan, sebagai hasil dari proses pematangan. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah memberikan gambaran tentang deteksi perkembangan anak melalui pelatihan. Metode yang digunakan yaitu memberikan pelatihan KPSP (Kuesioner pra Skrining Perkembangan) kepada para guru di TK Nurul Izzah agar dapat mendeteksi perkembangan para siswa sesuai usianya.     The incidence of fever often increases the morbidity and mortality rates in children under five. Based on the survey results in March 2022, it showed that 87% of Nurul Izzah Kindergarten children had experienced fever accompanied by an increase in temperature above normal. Fever can cause hyperthermia. Hyperthermia is an increase in body temperature above normal (above 37.7oC). If hyperthermia is not treated properly, it can cause seizures which can hamper the development of the child. The purpose of this activity is to provide an overview of the treatment of hyperthermia with the tepid sponge procedure. The method used is to provide health education with the demonstration method of the tepid sponge procedure. The result of this activity is that 92% of participants can explain and demonstrate again about the Tepid Sponge procedure.ABSTRAKKejadian demam seringkali meningkatkan angka keasakitan dan angka kematian pada Balita. Berdasarkan hasil survey bulan Maret 2022, menunjukkan bahwa 87% anak-anak TK Nurul Izzah pernah mengalami demam disertai penigkatan suhu diatas normal. Demam dapat menyebabkan hipertermi. Hipertermi merupakan peningkatan suhu tubuh diatas normal (diatas 37,7oC). Jika hipertermi tidak ditangani secara baik dapat menyebabkan kejang yang akan mempengaruhi perkembangan anak. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah memberikan gambaran tentang penanganan hipertermi dengan prosedur tepid sponge . Metode yang digunakan adalah memberikan penyuluhan kesehatan dengan metode demonstrasi prosedut tepid sponge. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah peserta 92% dapat menjelaskan dan mendemonstrasikan kembali tentang prosedur Tepid Sponge .
