Time-delay measurement of MgII broad line response for the highly-accreting quasar HE 0413-4031: Implications for the MgII-based radius-luminosity relation
We present the monitoring of the AGN continuum and MgII broad line emission
for the quasar HE 0413-4031 () based on the six-year monitoring by the
South African Large Telescope (SALT). We managed to estimate a time-delay of
days in the rest frame of the source using seven
different methods: interpolated cross-correlation function (ICCF), discrete
correlation function (DCF), -transformed DCF, JAVELIN, two estimators of
data regularity (Von Neumann, Bartels), and method. This time-delay is
below the value expected from the standard radius-luminosity relation. However,
based on the monochromatic luminosity of the source and the SED modelling, we
interpret this departure as the shortening of the time-delay due to the higher
accretion rate of the source, with the inferred Eddington ratio of .
The MgII line luminosity of HE 0413-4031 responds to the continuum variability
as , which is consistent with
the light-travel distance of the location of MgII emission at . Using the data of 10 other quasars, we confirm the
radius-luminosity relation for broad MgII line, which was previously determined
for broad H line for lower-redshift sources. In addition, we detect a
general departure of higher-accreting quasars from this relation in analogy to
H sample. After the accretion-rate correction of the light-travel
distance, the MgII-based radius-luminosity relation has a small scatter of only

Time delay measurement of Mg II line in CTS C30.10 with SALT
We report 6 yr monitoring of a distant bright quasar CTS C30.10 (z = 0.90052)
with the Southern African Large Telescope (SALT). We measured the rest-frame
time-lag of days between the continuum variations and the response
of the Mg II emission line, using the Javelin approach. More conservative
approach, based on five different methods, imply the time delay of
days. This time delay, combined with other available
measurements of Mg II line delay, mostly for lower redshift sources, shows that
the Mg II line reverberation implies a radius-luminosity relation very similar

Wavelength-resolved Reverberation Mapping of quasar CTSC30.10: Dissecting MgII and FeII emission regions
We present the results of the reverberation monitoring aimed at MgII broad
line and FeII pseudocontinuum for the luminous quasar CTS C30.10 (z = 0.90052)
with the Southern African Large Telescope covering the years 2012-2021. We
aimed at disentangling the MgII and UV FeII variability and the first
measurement of UV FeII time delay for a distant quasar. We used several methods
for time-delay measurements and determined both FeII and MgII time delays as
well as performed a wavelength-resolved time delay study for a combination of
MgII and FeII in the 2700 - 2900 \AA restframe wavelength range. We obtain the
time delay for MgII of days in the rest frame, while
for FeII we have two possible solutions of days and
in the rest frame. Combining this result with the old
measurement of FeII UV time delay for NGC 5548 we discuss for the first time
the radius-luminosity relation for UV FeII with the slope consistent with
within uncertainties. Since FeII time delay has a shorter time-delay component
but lines are narrower than MgII, we propose that the line delay measurement is
biased towards the BLR part facing the observer, with the bulk of the Fe II
emission may arise from the more distant BLR region, one that is shielded from

Wavelength-resolved reverberation mapping of intermediate redshift quasars HE 0413-4031 and HE 0435-4312: Dissecting Mg II, optical Fe II, and UV Fe II emission regions
We present the wavelength-resolved reverberation mapping (RM) of combined
MgII and UV FeII broad-line emissions for two intermediate redshifts
(z1), luminous quasars - HE 0413-4031 and HE 0435-4312, monitored by the
SALT and 1-m class telescopes between 2012-2022. Through this technique, we aim
to disentangle the Mg II and FeII emission regions and to build a
radius-luminosity relation for UV FeII emission, which has so far remained
unconstrained. Several methodologies have been applied to constrain the time
delays for total MgII and FeII emissions. In addition, this technique is
performed to quantify the inflow or outflow of broad-line region gas around the
supermassive black hole and to disentangle the emission/emitting regions from
lines produced in proximity to each other. The mean total FeII time delay is
nearly equal to the mean total Mg II time delay for HE 0435-4312 suggesting a
co-spatiality of their emissions. However, in HE 0413-4031, the mean FeII time
delay is found to be longer than the mean MgII time delay, suggesting that FeII
is produced at longer distances from the black hole. The UV Fe II R-L relation
is updated with these two quasars and compared with the optical FeII relation,
which suggests that the optical FeII region is located further than the UV FeII
by a factor of 1.7-1.9 i.e. . We
detected a weak pattern in the time delay vs. wavelength relation, suggesting
that the MgII broad-line originates a bit closer to the SMBH than the UV FeII,
however, the difference is not very significant. Comparison of MgII, UV, and
optical FeII R-L relations suggests that the difference may be larger for
lower-luminosity sources, possibly with the MgII emission originating further
from the SMBH. In the future, more RM data will be acquired to put better

The Relationships Between Somatic Constitution, Physical Fitness, School Achievements and Fish Products Consumption in Junior Male and Female High School Students
Easily digestible and low-calorie fish products are important components of a proper human diet. The main aim of the study was to assess the relationship between somatic constitution, physical fitness and school grades and the consumption of fish products by junior high school students . The research was carried out at Junior High Schools No. 8 and 9 in Rzeszów, in the school year 2014/2015. The mean age of examined girls was 13.96 ± 0.26, and boys - 13.97 ± 0.31 years. 118 students (58 girls and 60 boys) participated in the study. Basic somatic parameters were measured and tests concerning motor skills from the Eurofit test were performed. A short survey on the consumption of fish products by students was conducted and information on the results of junior high school final exams were obtained. The research showed that boys who have not consumed any fish products or had them rarely in their diet featured a taller body height. The opposite phenomenon was observed in the population of girls. In the group of boys, better exam results in selected subjects were achieved by those consuming fish less often, i.e. once a week or not at all. In the case of the females this phenomenon is only observed in relation to the exam in the school subject called Nature. The analysis of variance carried out in terms of the frequency of fish consumption showed that depending on the amount of fish products in the respondents' diet, the gender significantly differentiates the level of physical fitness of examined girls and boys (except for tapping)
A 3D model of tumour angiogenic microenvironment to monitor hypoxia effects on cell interactions and cancer stem cell selection
International audienceTumour microenvironment determines the fate of treatments. Reconstitution of tumour conditions is mandatory for alternative in vitro methods devoted to cancer development and the selection of therapeutic strategies. This work describes a 3D model of melanoma growth in its environment. Introducing means to mimic tumour angiogenesis, which turns on tumour progression, the model shows that melanoma tumour spheroids allow reconstitution of solid tumours with stromal cells. Angiogenesis evidenced the differential recruitment of endothelial cells (EC) from early progenitors (EEPCs) to mature ECs. Hypoxia was the key parameter that selected and stabilized melanoma cancer stem like cells (CSCs) phenotype based on aldehyde dehydrogenase expression as the best criterion. The 3D-tumour-model demonstrated the distinct reactivity of ECs toward tumour cells in terms of cellular cross-talk and humoral response. Intra-spheroid cell-to-cell membrane dye exchanges, mediated by intercellular interactions, uncovered the melanoma-to-EEPC cooperation. The resulting changes in tumour milieu were evidenced by the chemokinic composition and hypoxia-related variations in microRNA expression assessed in each cellular component of the spheroids. This method brings new tools to decipher the molecular mechanism of tumour-mediated cell recruitment and for in vitro assessment of therapeutic approaches
Triggering NETosis via protease-activated receptor (PAR)-2 signaling as a mechanism of hijacking neutrophils function for pathogen benefits.
Neutrophil-derived networks of DNA-composed extracellular fibers covered with antimicrobial molecules, referred to as neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs), are recognized as a physiological microbicidal mechanism of innate immunity. The formation of NETs is also classified as a model of a cell death called NETosis. Despite intensive research on the NETs formation in response to pathogens, the role of specific bacteria-derived virulence factors in this process, although postulated, is still poorly understood. The aim of our study was to determine the role of gingipains, cysteine proteases responsible for the virulence of P. gingivalis, on the NETosis process induced by this major periodontopathogen. We showed that NETosis triggered by P. gingivalis is gingipain dependent since in the stark contrast to the wild-type strain (W83) the gingipain-null mutant strain only slightly induced the NETs formation. Furthermore, the direct effect of proteases on NETosis was documented using purified gingipains. Notably, the induction of NETosis was dependent on the catalytic activity of gingipains, since proteolytically inactive forms of enzymes showed reduced ability to trigger the NETs formation. Mechanistically, gingipain-induced NETosis was dependent on proteolytic activation of protease-activated receptor-2 (PAR-2). Intriguingly, both P. gingivalis and purified Arg-specific gingipains (Rgp) induced NETs that not only lacked bactericidal activity but instead stimulated the growth of bacteria species otherwise susceptible to killing in NETs. This protection was executed by proteolysis of bactericidal components of NETs. Taken together, gingipains play a dual role in NETosis: they are the potent direct inducers of NETs formation but in the same time, their activity prevents P. gingivalis entrapment and subsequent killing. This may explain a paradox that despite the massive accumulation of neutrophils and NETs formation in periodontal pockets periodontal pathogens and associated pathobionts thrive in this environment
