Purification and electron cryomicroscopy of coronavirus particles.
Intact, enveloped coronavirus particles vary widely in size and contour, and are thus refractory to study by traditional structural means such as X-ray crystallography. Electron microscopy (EM) overcomes some problems associated with particle variability and has been an important tool for investigating coronavirus ultrastructure. However, EM sample preparation requires that the specimen be dried onto a carbon support film before imaging, collapsing internal particle structure in the case of coronaviruses. Moreover, conventional EM achieves image contrast by immersing the specimen briefly in heavy-metal-containing stain, which reveals some features while obscuring others. Electron cryomicroscopy (cryo-EM) instead employs a porous support film, to which the specimen is adsorbed and flash-frozen. Specimens preserved in vitreous ice over holes in the support film can then be imaged without additional staining. Cryo-EM, coupled with single-particle image analysis techniques, makes it possible to examine the size, structure and arrangement of coronavirus structural components in fully hydrated, native virions. Two virus purification procedures are described
Design of Preventive Measures for Degradation Phenomena in Surface Treatment
Bakalářská práce se zabývá studiem vlivu technologie žárově nanášených zinkových povlaků následně ošetřených krycím nátěrem, metalizací. Budou zkoumány faktory expozice povlakového systému ve venkovním prostředí C3. Práce obsahuje teoretický popis korozních jevů, úprav povrchů před aplikací povlaků, popis anorganických
a organických povlaků s vizuálním hodnocením na základě makroskopické dokumentace. Cílem práce je vytvoření katalogu vad, který by jednoznačně dokládal a následně identifikoval druh vady a její příčiny vzniku. Pro experimentální část práce byly dodány vzorky firmou IZOSTAV Industry s. r. o. s vizuálními vadami. Příprava vzorků probíhala v simulovaném režimu degradační zátěže povlakového systému.The Bachelor thesis is inquired into study of influence of technology of zinc dipped coating aftewards treated with covering painting, metalization. The factors of expositions of coating systems in outer environment C3 will be analyzed. The thesis contains theoretical description of corrosion effects, adjustments of surfaces before coating aplication, description of anorganic and organic coating with visual valuation based
on macroscopic documentation. The objective of this thesis is creation of defect catalogue, which would make conclusive evidence and consequently identify type of defect
and source of its origin. For experimental part of the thesis samples with visual defects
by IZOSTAV Industry s. r. o. were supplied. The preparation of sample taked place
in simulated regime of degradation load of coating system.345 - Katedra mechanické technologievýborn
Solution of the Problems of Heterogeneous Welds to Nuclear Power Plants
Diplomová práce se zabývá studiem heterogenních svarových spojů uhlíkových a korozivzdorných austenitických ocelí používaných v jaderném průmyslu. Práce obsahuje teoretický popis problematiky svařování heterogenních svarových spojů, svařitelnosti uhlíkových a vysokolegovaných ocelí a posuzuje současný stav používaných heterogenních svarových spojů v energetice.
The diploma thesis deals with the study of heterogeneous welded joints of carbon and stainless austenitic steels used in the nuclear industry. The work contains a theoretical description of the problem of welding heterogeneous welded joints, weldability of carbon and high-alloy steels and assesses the current state of heterogeneous welded joints used in power engineering.
In the experimental part was proposed a procedure for welding heterogeneous
and homogeneous joints of carbon and stainless austenitic steel pipes. The samples were made and evaluated on the basis of metallographic analysis and Vickers microhardness test. The aim of the work was to expand the existing knowledge about these heterogeneous welded joints in terms of weldability, service life and safety of their operation at nuclear power plants.345 - Katedra mechanické technologievýborn
CTAS data analysis program
The analysis program (AN) is specifically designed to produce graphic and tabular information to aid in the design and checkout of the Center TRACON Automation System (CTAS). To best reveal CTAS operation and possible problems, data are plotted in many different ways both in detail and summary form. AN has been designed to analyze both radar surveillance data and output data from CTAS. AN has been extensively used to debug and refine CTAS. It is also being used in the field to monitor and assess CTAS performance. AN is continuously refined to keep up with changing needs. The present version of AN grew out of analysis of Denver Center data. However, the AN software has been written to be adaptable to any other facility Center or TRACON. Presently, one can select Denver Stapleton, Denver International, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, and Dallas Love Field
The application of biomedical engineering techniques to the diagnosis and management of tropical diseases: A review
This paper reviews a number of biomedical engineering approaches to help aid in the detection and treatment of tropical diseases such as dengue, malaria, cholera, schistosomiasis, lymphatic filariasis, ebola, leprosy, leishmaniasis, and American trypanosomiasis (Chagas). Many different forms of non-invasive approaches such as ultrasound, echocardiography and electrocardiography, bioelectrical impedance, optical detection, simplified and rapid serological tests such as lab-on-chip and micro-/nano-fluidic platforms and medical support systems such as artificial intelligence clinical support systems are discussed. The paper also reviewed the novel clinical diagnosis and management systems using artificial intelligence and bioelectrical impedance techniques for dengue clinical applications
