159 p.Las posibilidades de un país maderero, como lo es Chile, de incrementar sustancialmente sus exportaciones en el rubro muebles, están claramente demostradas en estudios comparativos realizados en otros países exportadores, por ejemplo, Taiwán, país importador de madera, exporta más de 2000 millones de dólares anuales. (INFOR, 2004) A nivel nacional, en los últimos años la industria manufacturera de muebles ha tenido un gran auge de exportaciones; este crecimiento ha generado necesidades inmediatas, entre las cuales se ha podido detectar: Falta de personal capacitado a nivel de trabajadores y profesionales, falta de diseños propios, problemas de calidad, tecnologías atrasadas, etc. (INFOR, 2004) La demanda por muebles continuará aumentando: El país sólo podrá hacer frente a esta demanda en la medida que tenga personal capacitado, una red de productores; pequeños, medianos y grandes, pueda ofrecer diseños, que siendo propios tengan acogida en el mercado internacional, además de un sistema de Calidad para la fabricación de muebles, donde se realicen cabalmente las uniones y se escoja apropiadamente los herrajes de acuerdo al diseño de éstos. La memoria desarrollada pretende en lo fundamental capacitar, transfiriendo al sector productivo, información sobre diseños, sistemas constructivos adecuados para el mercado interno y de exportación y el uso de maquinarias. De acuerdo a lo anterior esta memoria está destinada a la descripción de los principales aspectos del funcionamiento y el uso de maquinaria, sistemas de herrajes y diseño de muebles de línea plana; esto se consiguió adaptando experiencias extranjeras en general, a la realidad nacional, mediante bibliografía obtenida a través de medios digitales, como también por revisiones bibliográficas

Human Talent Management to Improve Customer Service by Travel Companies in Riobamba

This study attempts to put into practice the acquired knowledge in college readiness and daily living. Assuming that travel companies lack an efficient administrative organization and change needed in this era of knowledge and information, it is essential that human talent is motivated and that employees are clear about their obligations toward the company, allowing for the healthy development of human talent. That being said, it is important to prioritize a management plan for human talent in the tourism sector. This study aims to be a guide for improving the service and establishing strategies for good customer service. The research was accomplished by taking into account 12 travel companies in the city of Riobamba. The survey results showed that the success or failure of a company relies heavily on its workers as they perform their work efficiently and effectively if they work in an optimal work environment. Resumen El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como objetivo fundamental llevar a la práctica los conocimientos adquiridos en la preparación universitaria y el diario vivir. Partiendo que las operadoras de turismo carecen una de una organización administrativa eficiente y del cambio que las empresas están viviendo en esta la era del conocimiento y la información, hace que sea indispensable que el talento humano este motivado, que conozca de manera clara y detallada cuales son las obligaciones que tienen para con las empresas, permitiendo que el talento humano se desenvuelva correctamente. Dado esto es importante se aplique de manera prioritaria un plan de gestión del talento humano en las operadoras de turismo, el mismo que busca ser una guía para perfeccionar el servicio, además de establecer estrategias que permitan siempre el buen desempeño del servicio al cliente. La investigación se la realizó tomando en cuenta 12 operadoras de turismo existentes en la ciudad de Riobamba, después de la aplicación de las encuestas se procedió a la tabulación para después concluir con los resultados. Para finalizar cabe indicar que el éxito o fracaso de una empresa depende en gran medida de sus trabajadores, ya que ellos realizarán su trabajo de manera eficiente, eficaz y efectiva si se desenvuelven en un ambiente de trabajo óptimo. Gender Violence in the University: The Role of Higher Education Institutions in its Prevention

Talking about gender-based violence and sexual harassment at the Ecuadorian university has been considered by many as an uncomfortable subject, and for some years it has been silenced. It is only recently that this situation has become an essential topic to investigate, so that currently several universities have struggled to explore through studies the problems of gender violence, discrimination and sexual harassment in the university context. In this sense, the present study has tried to develop a review of all the investigations that have been carried out to identify cases or situations of gender violence in universities at international, national and local level, as well as to determine the role of education institutions superior in the prevention and eradication of this problem. Resumen Hablar de violencia de género y acoso sexual en la universidad ecuatoriana ha sido considerado por muchos como un tema incómodo por lo que durante algunos años ha permanecido silenciado. No es sino hace poco que esta situación se ha vuelto una temática imprescindible de investigar, por lo que actualmente varias universidades se han esforzado en explorar a través de estudios los problemas de violencia de género, discriminación y acoso sexual en el contexto universitario. En este sentido, el presente estudio ha pretendido desarrollar una revisión de todas las investigaciones que se han realizado para identificar los casos o situaciones de violencia de género en universidades a nivel internacional, nacional y local, así como determinar el rol de las instituciones de educación superior en la prevención y erradicación de esta problemática. Enhanced diffusion due to active swimmers at a solid surface

We consider two systems of active swimmers moving close to a solid surface, one being a living population of wild-type \textit{E. coli} and the other being an assembly of self-propelled Au-Pt rods. In both situations, we have identified two different types of motion at the surface and evaluated the fraction of the population that displayed ballistic trajectories (active swimmers) with respect to those showing random-like behavior. We studied the effect of this complex swimming activity on the diffusivity of passive tracers also present at the surface. We found that the tracer diffusivity is enhanced with respect to standard Brownian motion and increases linearly with the activity of the fluid, defined as the product of the fraction of active swimmers and their mean velocity. Fossil remains of South American tapirs are often fragmentary and scarce compared with those of other mammals that entered South America during the "Great American Biotic Interchange". Here, we review and add to the Pleistocene tapir remains from the Tarija Valley (Bolivia), and provide a taxonomic re-evaluation of Tapirus tarijensis. T. tarijensis was a large-sized animal, approximating the size of the living Malaysian T. indicus and the extinct North American T. haysii. The geographical distribution of Pleistocene records of Tapirus in South America indicates that T. tarijensis was the only known species inhabiting the Tarija Valley during this time.Facultad de Ciencias Naturales y Muse

A two-sphere model for bacteria swimming near solid surfaces

We present a simple model for bacteria like \emph{Escherichia coli} swimming near solid surfaces. It consists of two spheres of different radii connected by a dragless rod. The effect of the flagella is taken into account by imposing a force on the tail sphere and opposite torques exerted by the rod over the spheres. The hydrodynamic forces and torques on the spheres are computed by considering separately the interaction of a single sphere with the surface and with the flow produced by the other sphere. Numerically, we solve the linear system which contains the geometrical constraints and the force-free and torque-free conditions. The dynamics of this swimmer near a solid boundary is very rich, showing three different behaviors depending on the initial conditions: (1) swimming in circles in contact with the wall, (2) swimming in circles at a finite distance from the wall, and (3) swimming away from it. Furthermore, the order of magnitude of the radius of curvature for the circular motion is in the range $8-50\,\mu$m, close to values observed experimentally.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figure

Generic flow profiles induced by a beating cilium

We describe a multipole expansion for the low Reynolds number fluid flows generated by a localized source embedded in a plane with a no-slip boundary condition. It contains 3 independent terms that fall quadratically with the distance and 6 terms that fall with the third power. Within this framework we discuss the flows induced by a beating cilium described in different ways: a small particle circling on an elliptical trajectory, a thin rod and a general ciliary beating pattern. We identify the flow modes present based on the symmetry properties of the ciliary beat.Comment: 12 pages, 6 figures, to appear in EPJ
