AKER: A Design and Verification Framework for Safe andSecure SoC Access Control
Modern systems on a chip (SoCs) utilize heterogeneous architectures where
multiple IP cores have concurrent access to on-chip shared resources. In
security-critical applications, IP cores have different privilege levels for
accessing shared resources, which must be regulated by an access control
system. AKER is a design and verification framework for SoC access control.
AKER builds upon the Access Control Wrapper (ACW) -- a high performance and
easy-to-integrate hardware module that dynamically manages access to shared
resources. To build an SoC access control system, AKER distributes the ACWs
throughout the SoC, wrapping controller IP cores, and configuring the ACWs to
perform local access control. To ensure the access control system is
functioning correctly and securely, AKER provides a property-driven security
verification using MITRE common weakness enumerations. AKER verifies the SoC
access control at the IP level to ensure the absence of bugs in the
functionalities of the ACW module, at the firmware level to confirm the secure
operation of the ACW when integrated with a hardware root-of-trust (HRoT), and
at the system level to evaluate security threats due to the interactions among
shared resources. The performance, resource usage, and security of access
control systems implemented through AKER is experimentally evaluated on a
Xilinx UltraScale+ programmable SoC, it is integrated with the OpenTitan
hardware root-of-trust, and it is used to design an access control system for
the OpenPULP multicore architecture
Talking and reflecting: Exploring the cognition of a group of English language teachers from the Language Institute of a Colombian public university
This qualitative case study aimed to delve into the cognition of a group of English teachers; that
is, their set of beliefs, knowledge, thoughts, and practices (Borg, 2003). The study also aimed to
investigate the factors that exert influence on their cognition and the significance of participants'
reflections in cultivating self-awareness regarding their cognition. The research was conducted at
the Instituto de Lenguas Extranjeras (ILEX) within Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira. The
participant pool comprised six teachers selected to represent a diverse range of teaching
experience, qualifications, ages, and roles within the language institute. Data was collected
through semi-structured interviews and stimulated recall sessions, which were subsequently
subjected to content analysis. The findings shed light on the formation of participants' professional
identity, which was found to be molded mainly by the constituents of their practices, and
educational factors that exert influence on their cognition both formally and informally. Nuances of
participants’ empathy were also found as distinctive characteristics of their cognition. Finally,
participants’ involvement in the research process resulted in a valuable source of reflection.

In the content of this one article reference to the procedure is made of calibration of incubators; procedure for which a technical norm doesn't exist specifies and that the electrophysiology group designed in the frame of a project approved by COLCIENCIAS that has as principal aim credit a laboratory of calibration / test of medical equipment
Cycle Time Improvement by a Six Sigma Project for the Increase of New Business Accounts
This paper reports the application of a 6σ project about the reduction of the cycle time for acquiring a new credit account in a finance group. The methodology used in this project was the DMAI technique of 6σ. The paper documents the analysis and tasks performed by the management team that reduced cycle time from 49 days to 30 days which resulted in an expected annual savings of $300,000.00. Also an increased customer satisfaction and an increase of sales is expected
