The Early Debate on Poetry and the Poet: Jonson’s Humanism and Marston’s Cynicism during the Poetomachia
This TFG aims to analyse the two philosophical attitudes during the Poetomachia that partly contributed to the creation of two different understandings of the function of the poet and poetry. Ben Jonson supports Humanism and therefore, he advocates the ability of the poet to discern truth through his art and its didacticism. John Marston instead questions the poet’s divinity and denies the possibility of poetry being a didactic tool. Considering these two positions, these writers make an early contribution to the debate of the function of the poet and poetry

On the isodiametric and isominwidth inequalities for planar bisections
For a given planar convex body K, a bisection of K is a decomposition of K into two closed sets A,B so that A∩B is an injective continuous curve connecting exactly two boundary points of K. Consider a bisection of K
minimizing, over all bisections, the maximum diameter (resp., maximum width) of the sets in the decomposition.
In this note, we study some properties of these minimizing bisections and prove inequalities extending the classical isodiametric and isominwidth inequalities. Furthermore, we address the corresponding reverse optimization problems and establish inequalities similar to the reverse isodiametric and reverse isominwidth inequalities.Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades MTM2017-84851-C2-1-PJunta de Andalucía FQM-325Fundación Séneca 19901/GERM/15Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades PGC2018-094215-B-I0
There is Good Fishing in Troubled Waters. Use and Abuse Surrounding Employability as Seen from the Perspective of the Social Responsibility of Universities
MUC1 positive cutaneous metastasis with transepidermal elimination from a breast carcinoma
Breast cancer is the most common cause of cutaneous metastases from internal malignancies. Generally, the neoplastic cells are located in the dermis or hypodermis, while a finding of transepidermal elimination on cutaneous metastases is exceptional. In this report we present a patient with perforating cutaneous metastases from breast cancer with mucin 1 expression. Cutaneous, bone, lung, and hepatic lesions were detected two years after the diagnosis of the primary tumor.Fil: Luna, Amalia. Universidad Nacional de La Plata. Facultad de Ciencias Médicas. A Decision Tree and S-Transform Based Approach for Power Quality Disturbances Classification
In this paper, it is presented an automated
classification based on S-transform as feature extraction tool and Decision Tree as algorithm classifier. The signals generated according to mathematical models, including complex disturbances, have been used to design and test this approach, where noise is added to the signals from 40dB to 20dB.
Finally, several disturbances, simple and complex, have been considered to test the implemented system. Evaluation results verifying the accuracy of the proposed method are presented.IEE
Analysis of advanced European nuclear fuel cycle scenarios including transmutation and economic estimates
Four European fuel cycle scenarios involving transmutation options (in coherence with PATEROS and CPESFR EU projects) have been addressed from a point of view of resources utilization and economic estimates. Scenarios include: (i) the current fleet using Light Water Reactor (LWR) technology and open fuel cycle, (ii) full replacement of the initial fleet with Fast Reactors (FR) burning U?Pu MOX fuel, (iii) closed fuel cycle with Minor Actinide (MA) transmutation in a fraction of the FR fleet, and (iv) closed fuel cycle with MA transmutation in dedicated Accelerator Driven Systems (ADS). All scenarios consider an intermediate period of GEN-III+ LWR deployment and they extend for 200 years, looking for long term equilibrium mass flow achievement. The simulations were made using the TR_EVOL code, capable to assess the management of the nuclear mass streams in the scenario as well as economics for the estimation of the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) and other costs. Results reveal that all scenarios are feasible according to nuclear resources demand (natural and depleted U, and Pu). Additionally, we have found as expected that the FR scenario reduces considerably the Pu inventory in repositories compared to the reference scenario. The elimination of the LWR MA legacy requires a maximum of 55% fraction (i.e., a peak value of 44 FR units) of the FR fleet dedicated to transmutation (MA in MOX fuel, homogeneous transmutation) or an average of 28 units of ADS plants (i.e., a peak value of 51 ADS units). Regarding the economic analysis, the main usefulness of the provided economic results is for relative comparison of scenarios and breakdown of LCOE contributors rather than provision of absolute values, as technological readiness levels are low for most of the advanced fuel cycle stages. The obtained estimations show an increase of LCOE ? averaged over the whole period ? with respect to the reference open cycle scenario of 20% for Pu management scenario and around 35% for both transmutation scenarios. The main contribution to LCOE is the capital costs of new facilities, quantified between 60% and 69% depending on the scenario. An uncertainty analysis is provided around assumed low and high values of processes and technologies
Combining dissimilarities in a hyper reproducing kernel hilbert space for complex human cancer prediction
9 páginas, 3 tablas.-- This is an open access article distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution
License.DNA microarrays provide rich profiles that are used in cancer prediction considering the gene expression levels across a collection of related samples. Support Vector Machines (SVM) have been applied to the classification of cancer samples with encouraging results. However, they rely on Euclidean distances that fail to reflect accurately the proximities among sample profiles. Then, non-Euclidean dissimilarities provide additional information that should be considered to reduce the misclassification errors. In this paper, we incorporate in the -SVM algorithm a linear combination of non-Euclidean dissimilarities. The weights of the combination are learnt in a (Hyper Reproducing Kernel Hilbert Space) HRKHS using a Semidefinite Programming algorithm. This approach allows us to incorporate a smoothing term that penalizes the complexity of the family of distances and avoids overfitting. The experimental results suggest that the method proposed helps to reduce the misclassification errors in several human cancer problems. © 2009 Manuel Mart́n-Merino et al.Financial support from Grant S02EIA-07L01.Peer Reviewe
