Universities and research centers in Spain are subject to a national open access (OA) mandate and to their own OA institutional policies, if any, but compliance with these requirements has not been fully monitored yet. We studied the degree of OA archiving of publications of 28 universities within the period 2012-2014. Of these, 12 have an institutional OA mandate, 9 do not require but request or encourage OA of scholarly outputs, and 7 do not have a formal OA statement but are well known for their support of the OA movement. The potential OA rate was calculated according to the publisher open access policies indicated in Sherpa/Romeo directory. The universities showed an asymmetric distribution of 1% to 63% of articles archived in repositories that matched those indexed by the Web of Science in the same period, of which 1% to 35% were OA and the rest were closed access. For articles on work carried out with public funding and subject to the Spanish Science law, the percentage was similar or slightly higher. However, the analysis of potential OA showed that the figure could have reached 80% in some cases. This means that the real proportion of articles in OA is far below what it could potentially be

La publicaci贸n de los resultados directos de una investigaci贸n se entiende como el principal producto de la actividad investigadora. En este marco, la obtenci贸n de rankings e indicadores permite orientar las inversiones y otras decisiones sobre I+D+i. The publication of the direct results of an investigation is understood as the main product of the research activity. In this framework, obtaining rankings and indicators allows to guide investments and other R&D decisions. This study presents a analysis of the activity, impact, visibility and collaboration of Catholic universities in Spain, Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as an international ranking of these universities with Catholic identity and the main links of collaboration between these universities. With this, it is intended to promote the research of the community of these universities, as well as to facilitate the possibility of integrating into emerging or consolidated groups, foster relations between universities in common lines of research, and encourage patronage and public or private financing in developed research projects.Ibero-American Science and Technology Education Consortiu

Analysis of Scientific Production Over Consumption of Addictive Substances and Road Safety

The intake of psychoactive substances causes cognitive, behavioral and physiological changes that lead some people to develop lost of control with significant impact on their daily lives (Beco帽a and Cortes, 2011). The drugs cause important effects on psychomotor performance, which in the case of driving a vehicle, constitutes a risk factor for involvement in traffic accidents. The intervention in the field of substance abuse and driving is considered a priority in order to reduce road traffic accidents (脕lvarez and Gonz谩lez-Luque,2014). During the study period there has been an increase in productivity and citation in relation to addictive substances and road safety, with a large number of original researches and a low percentage of self-citations. Both universities and specialized research centres most productive are from countries with high gross domestic product and extensive research in the study of substance abuse
