    Get PDF
Despite the proven benefit of cryotherapy in the management of threshold retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), it was shown leading to ocular adverse effects. A male infant was born at 28 week of gestation with a birth weight of 1200 g. Serial examinations revealed worsening ROP in both eyes until he reached a high risk pre-threshold ROP in his right eye and threshold ROP in his left eye. Cryotherapy was performed for the threshold ROP in the left eye while the right eye was subjected to further observation. Subsequently, ROP in both eyes regressed without cicatrisation. The patient was followed-up over 8 years and refractions showed that the treated eye developed steadily increasing myopia while the untreated eye remained emmetropic. This case demonstrated the detrimental effect of cryotherapy to the treated eye leading to the progressive myopia as the child grew

Dengue fever (DF) is one of the major public health problems in Malaysia. The number of cases recorded is always fluctuating. The aim of the study is to identify the high-risk area for the occurrence of dengue disease. Spatial-temporal model was used by measuring three characteristics which are frequency, duration and intensity to define the severity and magnitude of outbreak transmission. This study examined a total of 386 registered dengue fever cases, geo-coded by address in Jempol district between January 2011 and December 2015. Even though case notification figures are subjected to bias, this information is available in the health services. It may lead to crucial conclusion, recommendations, and hypotheses. Public health officials can utilize the temporal risk indices to describe dengue relatively than relying on the traditional case incident figures

    Get PDF
In the development of a modular fixture design system, it is essential to have a modular fixture specific information measurement that can be integrated with a CAD system, in addition to the other considerations such as fixture configuration, interference checking, etc., which are also important to fixture designers. The initial conditions for modular fixture assembly are established together with geometric relationships between fixture components and the workpiece to be analyzed. Of particular focus is the design of alternative locating points and components, together with examples of the 3-D fixture designs. Examples of fixture design generated by the system are also provided to illustrate the development. This thesis describes a method to create the fixture element database and model the fixturing towers like assembly of modular fixture. The main purpose for this project is to get the optimum of the modular fixture based on assembly process in order to make the product productivity and can reduce time in assembly and saving costs. The result in this case shows that the fixtures can be applied in many assembly situation such as assembly of 3-pin plug, optical mouse and alarm clock

Buprenorphine/Naloxone (BNX) is a pharmacological treatment for opioid dependency. Since its introduction in Malaysia in 2006, no study has been carried out looking at the treatment practices. Permanent Magnet brushless DC motors are now competing with many other types of motors in the world industries application. However, for low and medium power applications, brushless DC motors are often the main option due to its recognized advantage such as having no commutator, more efficient, need less maintenance, smaller in size and can operate at higher speeds than conventional motors. The overall objective of this project is to produce an improved prototype BLDC motor with concentrated winding concept for an aircraft actuator application. Specifically, the aim is to extract the maximum power density and torque per kilograms by utilizing high switching frequencies, high pole numbers and minimizing magnetic material content. In this work, the research has focused on developing a procedure to design the BLDC motor by selecting several parameters and analysing their effects on the overall performance. Therefore, this research involved software and hardware methods which are broken down into field and circuit modeling, calculation of basic dimensions, magnetic circuit calculations, stator slot design, winding design, performance and loss calculation and lastly prototyping. Magnet software for finite element method (FEM) analysis and analysis programs based on standard software are used to optimize the overall performances. The proposed methods are verified by actual experimental result on the developed prototype. The performance of the prototyped machine is evaluated by using a high speed 150kw, 20,000 rpm test rig and data capturing equipment
